BACK IN AUGUST 2005 I HAD PNEUMONIA AND WAS HOSPITALISED FOR 2 WEEKS. JUST LIKE OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH MY CHEST EVEN THOUGH MY DOCTOR SAID MY XRAYS ARE FINE. I GET PAIN IN MY RIGHT LUNG ON COLD MORNINGS AND STILL GET BREATHLESS. EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME

I will be praying for you. God loves you!
I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago I thought I had recovered but a few days ago I started to have severe pain in my back and chest when inhaling. I still have a cough Should I be concerned?
Dear Quietly depressed, You need to eat REAL food -- your breakfast shouldn't consist of only coffee and lunch salad sandwich. Then take walks for exercise. Don't bother with gyms.
Sue yes and no... always be concerned about your health. The pain in your back could be pleurisy (inflammation of the outer membrane and tissue of the lungs. ...usually goes away in a week) but it could be more serious. if you symptoms worsen or if they stay for longer than a week. Ifc you haven't seen your Doctor about it already...please do so. with pneumonia, it could be nothing...or it could be everything. Wegeners is rare, but it does happen more often than is reported. Many die from pulmonary Embolism or stroke or blood clot to the heart or kidney failure and with Doctors being resistant to test for wegeners many people die without a proper diagnosis. make sure you see your Dr. right away and let him take a few xrays.
8 months later? might be time to find another Dr. at least have an "anca" blood test done. they are inexpensive and will give your dr. a heads up if it's positive.
you want to move around, but you do not want to do it to the point you weaken yourself. pleurisy shouldn't last more than a week... if it does then something else is going on. My pulmonologist told this me this after he had called my chest pain pleurisy for three months... turns out i have a blood clot in my spine. they could have dissolved the clot or removed it and i would have been better off in the long run. the blood clots were caused by wegeners granulomatosis. please if it's been longer than a week and pleurisy continues see another Doctor.
Oh dear mama....Just being through so much has made you fearful, weaker and of course depressed..But you know what, sharing this in public is very honest step towards lifting the bad feelings about yourself. You should know that only God knows why we go through such hard periods of our lifes...Your sons will always need you no matter the way you look or feel..Just try to drop a kilo every month and you will see that for one year you will be 15 kl. Less. Then your depression will start going away until kilos start dropping faster..It's just only your mind that puts you in this dark hole. You should fight depression any way you can and talk to your sons constantly about their life...What is their goal for the future, how is the situation with girls, go out and buy them some nice clothes and something nice for you as well...After all, we all go through these stages of life, but we ate still nit done on earth...Keep you heart light and sleep good hours as well as laugh..You will change at some point and see that life is still out there waiting for you to grab!!!!Much love to you dear:)
Hi, I have pnemonia and am still healing I was in hospital for 3 weeks and in the high dependency ward for 6 of those days, do I guess my pnemonia was fairly bad. I have been out of hospital for 3 weeks now and ever since I have developed a rash like acne all over my face, I have never had pimples before, and I am 38. I am also no longer on any medication, has any body else had this happen?
I've had a cough since March, then a sinus infection even though using a nasal irrigator and finally had to have antibiotics.  They helped for a week or so and the cough came back.  It became worse and worse until I found myself up at night, coughing terribly.  Finally, last week, my husband talked me into going to the doc.  I found out from an X-Ray I have 3 broken ribs and pneumonia.  I also have Lyme Disease so my immune system hasn't been the greatest for about 6 years. My doctor, knowing I have lyme and knowing how bad steroids are for me, gave me a Nebulizer which has the little vials which I can use several times a day to open up the lungs but he also put me on liquid steroids that go into the Nebulizer.  So it doesn't go into my system.  I've been on it a week and haven't gained any weight (I know a lot of people are worried about that and I was too) and I'm beginning to feel human again.  It's only been a week, I've still got a lot of lung pain (the broken ribs don't even hurt) and I'm very weak.  Thankfully, I take pain meds for my lyme and they have helped a lot with the lung pain.  My main reason for writing is to let everyone know there is another way to take steroids besides pills.  The Nebulizer will be something i can use in the future to keep this from happening again as I've read some people get pneumonia more than once. Thanks for reading this. SandyM
i am 13, i had Pneumonia when i was round about 9. got it on christmas day sadly. eversince i have had very sharp sudden pains in my chest/lungs. it has seemed to have gotten worse over the past few weeks! good luck to anyone trying to find out what causes this or how to cure it as it is highly painful
My suggestion would be not to wait too long as it might turn into pneumonia again. Since allergies are really bad right now here in the south, I've noticed I'm again getting a cough. My lung and ribs are still sore but nothing like it was a couple of weeks ago.Did you get a Nebulizer the last time? I still use mine (not with the steroids anymore but with the inhalation solution). My Naturopathic doctor also said I could put a few drops of colloidal silver in it. I think that is helping me not get sick again. There is good silver and bad silver. The one I like the best is called Mesosilver.I pray you will feel better soon!
Hi all, sorry to hear about so many cases of pneumonia.  I was in hospital four weeks ago with pneumonia and I am doing really well, I also have damaged two discs from coughing. I have slight pain if I sneeze or do excessive movements like push ups or the like. Interesting that a few people mention exercise is good for the pain. I'm very excited to be going back to my gym (crossfit) tomorrow. I was on two lots of antibiotics for 12 days and general over he counter pain killers for the pain. I would reccomend everyone get onto a chiropractor that offers therapies like kinesiology, NET therapy. This is is the reason I have made such a quick recovery.  These people not only work with bones but their treatment is a more holistic aproach, an absolute god send. How you eat also has a huge impact on your recovery also, someone else mentioned eating more of the right foods and I totally agree. I eat paleo as much as possible. Good luck to everyone, I hope you all get well soon.
Just to add to the list. I was diagnosed with pneumonia over 9 weeks ago in both lungs. I havehad 2 chest x-rays. a lung capacity test and an ultra sound on all of my organs. I was given 4 pills at the start and am now on my secon puffer.  So, no medication to speak of. I start physio on my back tomorrow to try andloosenupmy lungs. When I went to bed, the wheezing and noises from my chest were out of this world.  It kept me awake. For the 9 plus weeks,I am averaging 3-4 hours per night of sleep. It is wearing me down which is  ot good. The wheezing has mostly gone but, now the cough has started which is worse at night. This still has me getting 3-4 hours of sleep per night. The mucas is now being discharged but,it scares me tosee how much there is. About three wekks ago, I started making a herbal tea but, I do not knowif this helps.  The sad thing is getting doctors concerned enough. Still waiting fortest results. I am 59 and getting frustrated. By the way, I try tostay up until my eyelids are so tired. Go to bed around 11 p.m. and arise at 3 a.m. due to thecoughing..have a cup of tea and go online until 4 or 4:30 a.m. and then try for 1-2 hors of sleep..not much fun.
