BACK IN AUGUST 2005 I HAD PNEUMONIA AND WAS HOSPITALISED FOR 2 WEEKS. JUST LIKE OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH MY CHEST EVEN THOUGH MY DOCTOR SAID MY XRAYS ARE FINE. I GET PAIN IN MY RIGHT LUNG ON COLD MORNINGS AND STILL GET BREATHLESS. EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME

Remember just pray and ask God for Direction. God will give you strength. I will pray for you.
I had Atypical Pheumonia 3 1/2 years ago and was admitted to hospital as I couldn't breathe and had severe pains on the left side of my back.  Still even now I get pains in the same place, normally at night, when it's cold or if I catch a cold virus.  At first I kept going back to the doctors, who eventually sent me for an xray.  It came up clear but the pain is still there.  I worry that the Pneumonia will come back or that there is permanent damage to my left lung.  I wish I knew how to cure this.  There doesn't seem to be a lot of answers on here.

I have the same situation as you although I'm going thru it now. I think the pneumonia is healing but there is a sharp pain in my right ribs. Doc didn't seem worried about it but man does it hurt. When I cough or sneeze I feel it throughout my chest and stomach. Did yours slowly heal and then it come back, or do you still have it all the time? It really sucks!
It takes upto 6 years for your lungs to fully heal after pneumonia, i wouldn't worry too much tbh. I tend to get a bit of pain the day after drinking alcohol and if i have been exposed to the cold!
Taking a short dose of Prednisone will not make u gain weight!!! It helps with the inflamation!!! Take your freakin meds as prescribed!! No wonder ur not getting better!!
Hi guys...jumped in to do some research as everytime I wear my contact lenses I feel that they dehydrate me and experience pain around my lungs the next few days. I too suffered pneumonia, scarring of the lungs and had the lung capacity of an 80 year old. I was diagnosed at 30 and I am now 36. I tried everything...absolutely everything. I was on a steriod medication for 6 years and the only thing that assisted me heal and make a full recovery was "Salt Therapy"...I now utilise is as a top up as per need (every 3 weeks) as apposed to twice a week. Best money spent.
I don't have much hope for doctors anymore after my experience with pneumonia. And after hearing your stories, it has just reinforced my concerns. I hlunch at I thougwas was back pain for two weeks. I went to the doctor, and was actually asked after I explained my symptoms " and what would you like me to do?". I'm sorry, but that is what I'm paying $75 for you to tell me. After seeing 3 doctors, who were not able to diagnose it, I ended up being hardly able to move, vomiting constantly, and my partner could even hear the fluid in my lungs as I breathed. A 2 year old could have diagnosed me at this point, and it was only them when I received antibiotics. I continued to throw up for the next week and they were still hesitant to give me iv due to the " risk of secondwry infection. The whole experience was very traumatic, and probably extenstuff and worsened the pneumonia which could have been dealt with the first time I saw the doctor. Btw my X-ray also came up clear.
take the prednisone me too thought it would make me look like a blowfish but it only temporary and it works wonders It does make you feel like a new person but you must rest and no active stuff til there are no more symptons People were commonly getting pneumonia and even collapsed lungs after the H1N1 virus so hang in there Anita

SALT THERAPY I swear buy it...I suffered for 7 years and it was only thing that allowed me to heal! I suffered terribly..only last night I saw a picture of myself when I was on my highest does of prednisone and my lord....I am so glad I have recovered..it has now been 18 months steroid free....I cant stress enough, if any of you have lung complications, get onto SALT THERAPY!
yes you are becoming quickly antibiotic resistant. They need to culture the pneumonia somehow and find the best way to treat it instead of fooling around with so many antibiotics. That is just making you more antibiotic resistant. Short term prednisone should not make you heavier. what's 2 0r 3 pounds compared to your life. Pneumonia is nothing to play around with. I have pneumonia right now too. And the z pack isn't doing it. The pred may help you beat it. I would try it if I were you. By the way I had symptoms for 4 months before I demanded an xray whch showed nothing but the nausea was killing me. The doc wanted to do an upper endoscopy can you belief it. I went to ER they found it deep in lower lung by cat scan.
Try Seattle Sutton's Diet... great with people who want to lose weight the right way and extremely safe for diabetics, heart patients etc... I feel the best I have ever felt in my life on this diet and am sick the least as well ! As for the Menopause, stay away from any "HOT" beverages as this will cause "HOT FLASHES" and limit your alcohol, chocolate and caffeine intake and this helps solve all of that. Also, go see a pulmonologist and if that does not work, try a good acupuncturist, physical therapy on your chest wall should help substantially. You must strengthen not only your exterior muscle groups around your chest area but also do strengthening breathing exercises as well. Good Luck :)
Usually prednisone should not be given in the presence of infection as it can decrease your immune system. However it will help with inflammation. How about a pump as opposed to oral meds? Ask your doc!
I could have written your post. My son is also 14 and is still experiencing chest pain. He also had an EKG and lungs sound ok. Did you ever find out what was causing the pain? Did is stop?
