I hav the same problem as everyone else in here. Unfortunately for me, it has been happening my entire life. I ran cross country since I was in third grade and every time I ran, I would get "gym balls," which is the terminology for what everyone is talking about. I'm 22 now, and even if I go out and shoot basketball, my junk shrinks. Of course it all returns to proper size, but it does shrink so bad that it actually hurts. The blood theory is plausible, but I'm still looking for a legitimate and studied rational for why this happens.

Hey Guys,

its just natural. How are you supposed to rune with stuff dangling in the way? Nature nver intended man to wear underwear, so the retractional issue was created. It is also the alternative way of securing good penile circulation other than trough erection.

Cheers

This "penis retraction" happened to me just now. I had an erection in the middle of the night. It woke me up. For no reason, my penis began to shrink, to the point where it almost "disappeared".

I don't remember this happening, at least not this severe.

My health is not so good recently. I got a case of nasty flu back in April. It took me 2.5 months to fully recover.

Since then, my libido is not as strong as before. If it matters, I am 40.

I read about other posters having dryness in their eyes. For the past week, my eyes have been itchy and dry. I was also very dehydrated yesterday (seems to be a common theme) and may not have replenished all my fluids.

I was so scared that I couldn't go back to sleep. It's not back to normal after the incident 3 h ago, but my penis has "grown" back just a little bit.

I don't know if this is both psychological (stress, new job, crazy boss, I call him Chairman Mao) and physical (age, less exercise than last year, dehydration).

Hey I just started jogging and have been having the same problem as all of you. Recently I came to a logical so called "cure". While working out purposely think about stuff that turns you on instead of the strenuous workout. This way while your working out your heart will have to pump blood to your penis. Also from time to time I suggest you kind of fling your penis during your jog or workout to make sure its loose and not tight or shriveled. Finally if all that fails maybe we are all just over working ourselves and should ease up on the training. Also hydrotherapy can do wonders if you think you have an inflamation.

Hope this helps.

We're quite in the million suffering from this penile shrinkage and until it affects your penis, you won't understand the feelings of victims. I'm not a doctor but a sufferer who is also seeking to know a way out. It's the heart that pumps oxygenated blood to all organs of the body and so blood flow into the penile veins plays a very important role on the penis size. If the heart is functioning well and in the absence of phlebitis (inflammation of vein), everything else goes well, but if the heart is not pumping at its optimum, there's bound to be some hitches along the way. So, please check with your doctor the condition of your heart to determine the cause of your penile shrinkage. I'm 39 and i've been diagnosed with bradycardia (an abnormally slow heartbeat), and i guess this is the cause of my penis shrinkage. When my heartbeat is normal, and with a balanced psychological frame of mind, my penis size will be normal. I also visit the gym quite often and i used to tread the mill quite lengthily. Although it's quite normal for the penis to shrink in size after a lengthy exercise that involves a lot of perspiration, it should soon regain its normal semi-firmness after the exercise as the heart returns to its normal process of pumping blood to all body organs when the body is at rest. If the body is at rest and the penis is flaccid, check the condition of the heart first.

Just to add a few lines; We tend to not always drink enough water on a daily basis and we always over look the effects of dehydration on our veins. Some of us have body systems that dehydrate faster than others. For some of you who complain of penis shrinkage after exercising i'll suggest you always drink enough water to keep your body hydrated. Your body will obviously shrink if fluid is drained out of your body and is same with your penis. Your body dehydrates more when exercising and also when asleep for some people. What most of you must have failed to notice is that you get out of bed so tired and probably weak. One common reason for that phenomenon is dehydration. One is normally supposed to wake up feeling refreshed and energized; but when tired and weak after sleep, it's an indication that your system isn't in order and dehydration shouldn't be ruled out. Sometimes you're half asleep and you feel like there's an internal force pulling the veins of your body or something like that. That's just dehydration taking place within your system and once you get up and drink enough water, you feel yourself comfortably getting to rest and if you listen keenly to your inner body, you'll feel some tingling sensations; telling you that the shrunken veins are reviving.

26 yo with same problem here, since im a kid. running, hard workout, "adrenaline pumping"
kind of stress, sleeping a 2-4h night or a 12h night sometimes will do it, even being hungry
without eating for a several hours. both my penis and balls shrink tiny when that occurs,
yet my erected size is good (slightly above average according to studies on average length
and girth) we gotta find out what causes that! Not only is it embarrassing when it occurs,
but if it becomes frequent i think it might be bad for your genitals (restricted blood flow
implies lack of oxygen, nutrients, etc)

For the sake of finding out why it would be useful if the poeple who dont understand what we
are talking about stop claiming this is normnal. We understand that it is normal to get some
shrinkage while fighting Brock Lesnar, but we are talking about an overeaction. For those
who experience it, perhaps we could try to find out what we have in common %-)

as someone said above, i also sweat profusely during exercise. could an adrenaline rush
somehow restrict our unnecessary blood flow more than the average Joe? also as said above,
im a naturally muscular guy with big legs. could these muscles drain the blood out? im not
medicating it but i have to watch my cholesterol as it tends to get high, anybody else?
fast/slow heartbeat? I personally have a fast pulse for my level of conditionning, but
someone before said he has the opposite. Otherwise i think im very healthy, generally
energetic, driven, etc I also have a whole world of fantacies, that makes me constantly
thinking about them and made me go through rants of overmasturbation in the past, though not
b4 i was like 16yo.

surprisingly dry eyes came 2-3 times in the thread. i also have dry eyes. if the shrinkage
was an endocrinian (hormonal) problem I would say we should look at "estrogen dominance",
its getting more recognition in the medical community and has been linked to dry eys,
lowered testosterone and atrophied genitals. Could it also cause the genitals' size to vary
considerably, sometimes several times throughout the day?

still chances are that its not an homonal problem, but rather strictly a blood
flow/cardiovascular problem.

i have googled that before and found possible things to look at, like zinc or nitric oxyde
deficiency, too much cGMP break down, penis suspension tendon overworking, etc. some say
l-arginine might increase blood flow enough to compensate.

A few people also refered to thinking too much, which i never thought could have a link. But
i also think all the time, way too much (I'm doing a phd in science now, and even when im
having sex im often intensely thinking about all sorts of arousing scenarios). could the
brain really take too much blood away from genitals? sounds crazy but?

My #1 guess right now is some sort of asymptomatic hypovolemia. A lot of people in this
thread have said they are typically pretty active, even more so when they were young. So how
many were getting the suggested amounts of water? half of it? Because combine low water
intake, high physical activity, intellectual work, sweating on the high side, etc and it is
totally conceivable to me that on the long run the body adjust by reducing its "normal"
amount of fluid. If your amount of blood is even slightly below average you would most
likely feel the effect of exercising on your current flacid size more rapidly than others.
I've had boners where i had the feeling i was constantly feeling im filling it up, and some
where i just didnt seem to fully fill it (and many good ones, thankfully). The only time i
have noctural erections is when i drink a shitload of water before bed. For some reason,
whenever i drink several beers and quickly after bring a cute lady home my penis is making
me proud. Every now and then i get very tired and my cognitive abilities are down, then i
drink 10-20L/day of water for a few weeks and i totally 'wake up'. hypovolemia/chronic
dehydration could certainly explain the tiredness/worn out feeling expressed by some in this
thread. Could it also explain the dry eyes? And how does one go about increasing blood
amount, drinking massive amounts of water for me seems to only fix the problem temporarily.

Anyway I liked to see that some people are just starting to get this, it tells me that this
is probably not something i was born with. The guy getting worse by using viagra is also a
cool experiment, i hope he comes back with more infos. Could the more frequent sex decrease
his testosterone, of make him sweat more than he used to and hence decrease his fluid
levels? or?

Hopefully more people come back, say if they experience any of the symptoms i wrote above or
add some hypothesis, or consult a medical specialist and tell us what he said, etc

I think we penis shrinkage sufferers are overlooking the fact that we might be overexercising our body and losing more useful body nutrients faster than replenishing. I only started having this problem when i started exercising heavily and i started exercising heavily because i was overweight and for fear that my excess weight could seriously exaggerate my bradycardia. I believe my overexercising has drained the most vital nutrient out of my body. I remember i once lay down and really felt a draining sensation on the downside of my penis toward the balls and going right through into my stomach. What a strange feeling! and sometimes i have this feeling on my arms, it's like the fluid in my body is being drained inward. I try to counterbalance the effect by eating more fruits and drinking liters of water and eating well everyday. That seems to work but then i'll just get obese. I also have dry eyes as someone just mentioned above. I used to have a terrible type of dry and chocking cough that starts coming up right from the stomach as i can really feel it. Nightmares are common.

It is common for doctors to give you that "all in your head" B.S. when the real answer is "I'm not learned enough to have an opinion on this issue and should probably refer you to someone smarter/more specialized than me, but me ego is too fragile to simply admit I don't know enough to answer your question." That all in your head or you're probably depressed jazz when you clearly explain a physical condition is a bad doctor's way of brushing you off because he is too damn lazy to research an issue he doesn't have an easy answer for. 60% of doctors are not much more than con men from my experiences. I've got nothing but respect for a doc who will say "I don't know" and follow that up with he will have to do some reading up to find a possible answer. Here--take this bottle of antibiotics. I have no idea what is wrong with you, but here are some pills to shoot in the dark with...wow, med school prepared you to tackle the world.

I know that a degree of shrinkage is normal, but the victims here are quite aware and quite clear of the fact that 95% of the other men getting undressed in the locker room don't look like they went skinny dipping in freezing water--it goes beyond shrinkage and to an almost freakish state. I've had my penis get shorter in the pool. This is different and way more severe. After running/exercise, it is not uncommon for mine to get significantly shorter and the diameter below the head to shink/contract drastically too.

Might be something to the hydration theory. That is worth addressing. I also suspect nutrition and/or hormones play a role as well.

Guys- I have constant painful shrinkage and there's literally only one culprit that causes it- hypersensitive temperature sensors. Our bodies think that they are colder than they actually are, which pulls the testes up into the "warmer" body. When we are nervous or excited similiar bodily activities take place.

Try it for yourself. Put a heating pad directly on your balls. I've had one on mine for about 30 min now. Before I put it on my balls were like a non-bitchy wife that is- totally nonexistent. Now they're hanging down to the chair i'm sitting in.

There are also some physiological issues that could be at play. I have 4 herniated discs in my back and thatstress on my posture seems to affect the "hanging" of the bat and balls. Also, I'm a big framed buy, 6 foot 235 pounds, my shoulders are just shy of being as wide as a volkswagon so it might seem like there's some stress and pulling on the penis and balls.

Let me know if you guys need anymore info. It's basically worthless talking to a doctor about this because not only do they seem to not understand but it's just an over active normal bodily function- not really a disease.

Try the heating pad and also try some lotion to keep the skin soft and pliable. You can even try massaging it a little in the shower. Stretch the skin gnetly.

But yea, if you want to email me and talk about your balls I'm all ears. Wow, never thought I'd write that in my lifetime.

hey guys its the 26 yo from above with the hypovolemia theory. just reporting back. "hypersensitive temperature sensors" well yes but also stress sensors, etc. we are not cars, so i beilieve that if our sensors are hypersensitive, there is an underlying reason that need to be adressed.. so are we all on the large/muscular side? the more infos we gather the best we will be. btw i also popped one of my disc, i kind of deserved it from my activities but my really tight psoas did not help. it still pulls me into excessive lordosis. i should google it but i think the penis/scrotum is actually attached fairly inside the body, so that a change in the dynamic of the hips region could perhaps explain our shrinkage (?) i mean if our genitals are already pulled inward because of posture (say by 40%) then a normal reaction to cold/stress/running/workouts etc of say 40% shrinkage would appear like 67%.

in regards to chronic dehydration/hypovolemia i have been pounding water and electrolytes for some time now and i can say that it is not perfect but it seems to have improved. i will continue and report later when i feel my other symptoms are chronic dehydration seem to be gone. I also started taking lots of zinc, making sure i avoid calcium and phytates before and after. as a chronically dehydrated who drank milk almost every meal, i think my zinc is probably low. my previous rants of excessive masturbation most likely did not help (as sperm contains a lot of zinc). but although zinc has been associated with hypogonadism and is required for good testosterone production and fertility, im not convince that it has anything to do with shrinking ballsacks. I'll report later about my rehydration work

"if you want to email me and talk about your balls I'm all ears" hahah

I just recently started working out last week, and this also happens to me all the time. I used to work out vigorously 2-3 years ago and never had this problem before, but everytime I do these days, my penis always shrinks into my body after I do my cardio (it goes away after about 5 minutes of just loosening up my body before I start weights). I'm not really that embaressed because it only lasts for about 5-10 minutes and it only happens when I work out, but it's really uncomfortable and it hurts a bit, so I have to wait for a while before I can start working out again, which I hate to do because it lowers my heart-beats and I try to keep it at a certain number the entire time at the gym.

I'm relatively sure it has to do with blood flow to that area, being that you are using the blood else where. The more you exercise your body, especially your heart the more that problem will fix itself. You heart is likely to weak to pump blood to every part of your body while you are straining your legs. Repeated cardio should help this, the Olympian runners extensively exercise their hearts to be able to withstand the amount of stress on their bodies. It is a good idea to relax your penis afterward, if it stays in that state for to long the tendons and nerves shrink and you lose length. People that under go some prostate cancer treatments suffer from shrunken penis' and if they don't rectify the shrinkage they lose length, so I'm assuming the same would happen for just about any male. It is suggested that people suffering from this problem should invest in a penis pump to help fill the penile shaft with blood and prevent permanent tendon shrinkage. As I said before though, even while flaccid the penis requires a certain amount of blood to retain mass, and if your heart is to tired to effectively pump blood the every part of your body you will loose mass in that area, so remember to not over do it while running and strengthen your heart with proper breathing and steady exercise.

Some good news for us penis shrinkage sufferers, though this is not a doctor's advice. There are parasites like worms in our body that tend to siphon our nutrients and some of us may even have evil parasites like the tape worm or some other dangerous types. Consequently, we may tend to suffer from diseases caused by the effects of these parasites on our body and sometimes doctors may not be able to detect the presence of such parasites if symptoms are not traditional or typical of the parasite. I'll advise you guys to consult with your doctor and let them prescribe a worm medicine for you. With me i didn't consult with a doctor before taking worm medicine. I actually wanted to consult with a doctor before taking any worm medicine but i'm in China where the langauge is a problem for me and i also thought that worm medicine is a common over the counter (OTC) therapy. So i just walked into a medicine store and asked for worm medicine and i guessed they tried to explain to me that it was out of stock. I said i guessed because my chinese isn't that so perfect and again, they might have been assuming that i was asking for the normally common type of worm medicine often bought from their drugstore since i had no presription. But then, the assistant spoke some chinese to me which i partially understood to mean there's another type of worm medicine, which i asked her to bring. I bought it and she asked me to drink just two tablets which is the dose for a year. I took it home and drank it as she told me before i later discovered it was ZENTEL ALBENDAZOLE; which is used to cure tape worms. But then it has worked not only for my penis shrinkage but for body itches, nightmares (eating in a dream) and it's something hard to explain whether i had tape worms or some other types of worm or what actually. So please, you may want to do some blood test about worms before taking any worm medicine. That way your doctor will be sure of what kind of worm medicine you need. I hope this will be of help to someone.
