I have many of these same symptoms as countless people have described in this thread. If you are caucasian, male OR female, and are primarily of English, Celtic, Northern Europen/Scandanavian descent - you should consider investigating Hereditary HemoChromatosis, PolyCythemia, and Tumors either in Pituitary or Adrenal glands. Also check Liver for Cirrhosis and collateral diseases/disorders. I hope this is helpful.

Hi everyone, I might have the SOLUTION for you! I hope by sharing my story you will be able to solve your health problem, too. I have experienced the same as you all described, already since age 15, and I'm 48 now! All these years nobody was ever able to diagnose this. I found out by accident that by taking gluten out of my diet, I haven't had an 'attack' anymore! I give health advice for a living and I was just very curious how it would be to live without gluten. I wanted to be able to advice my customers on how it is to live gluten free. And voila, interestingly enough I haven't had an attack ever since. Only sometimes it happens, but when I trace back there is always gluten involved, even the tiniest amounts could trigger it (when on a package it says 'could contain 'traces of gluten'). Even if I can help one person with this advice, I'm happy. I know it is extremely annoying especially because the 'attacks' are very unpredictable.

I am 65. I have had these symtoms for about 3 years. The first time was the worse and really bad. I was on a cruise and they thought I was having a heart attach because the pains in my chest were so bad. Since then I have had a milder form about every 6 months. But recently it has become more frequent.
I take buscopan, a antihistamine and panadol as soon as I get first symtoms which is usually itchy palms.
This seems to reduce the symtoms and they only last about half an hour. Then I feel very tired.
I have made an appointment to go to the Doctor next week because I am sick of it but I wonder if it is worth it as it seems as if the Doctors do not have a clue what it is.

Please look into "histamine intolerance" not all doc's are aware of it. All my symptoms match up and related to the items listed as histamine triggers.

Interesting to hear that, as I suspect that's what's causing my episodes as well. I've had a few bouts with this as well, and the one constant each time has been Aleve. In every case I'd been taking an Aleve in the morning for a few days in a row. I'm steering clear now and have not had any further incidents!

I have had these same episodes several times over the last year. They come after different times of the day, sometimes I've eaten, sometimes I haven't. Sometimes it is worse than others but i never have any warning until the itching hands and feet and stomachache start. When that starts I know I have only about 10-15 minutes and I will be lying on the bathroom floor sweating profusely and vomiting with diarrhea soon to follow. Mine usually last about 3-4 hours and I am just drained after. It is so horrible.

I do have a symptom though that I haven't seen mentioned. In addition to my body getting red and blotchy, my face seems to get puffy and the whites of my eyes also get red.

These are the symptoms I get:
- Itchy palms and bottoms of feet. Have discovered the itchier they are the worse the episode is
- Vomiting or dry heaves
- Stomach cramps
- Diarrhea
- Profuse sweating
- Body turns red and blotchy and itchy at times, although not as itchy as hands and feet
- Face gets puffy or at least my eyes do
- Whites of my eyes turn red
- Very drained and tired after
- Once sweating stops I get the chills
- Lasts approximately 3-4 hours

Has anyone else noticed the fuffy face and red eyes?

I really want to know what I'm allergic or reacting to so that I can stay away from it. But it sounds as if going to the doctor may be a waste of time and money. Not sure what to do at this point.

I just experienced what you described, I had flushing and what felt like a hot flash from shoulders to top of head. Very strange experience. At first I thought it to be an allergic reaction.

I have all these same symptoms. I am 34 and have been dealing with this for almost a year. These reactions happen after my period. I think its hormonal as well. I don't have ins and have only been to doc once. Got checked for mastocytosis it was negative. Maybe its thyroid related? I have to get Insurance before I get any other testing.

Hello,
I too have theses same episodes and the whites of my eyes become blood shot during but clear up once the episode is done. I also notice that the itchier the hands and bottoms of my feet the worse the episode is. I have not vomited during these episodes but I do have extreme nausea. I have diarrhea that can not wait, it's immediate. Stomach cramps, I feel warm and try to keep an icepack on the head chest, and back of neck. I get very lightheaded and feel like I'm going to pass out. My episodes last as along as the diarrhea does. But never more than an hour.

My most recent episode included all this but I became itchy in other places including my groin, behind my knees, lower back, ears, back of neck and head. My hands turned red and swelled and I had red blotches on the tops of my feet. I had redness around my eyes (on the skin) and around my lips. This episode sent me to the emergency room, where I was given a steroid, Benadryl, and Pepcid. My symptoms started to clear quickly after receiving these meds.

I am in the process of getting tested for Carcinoid syndrome and should have my results back this week. But the allergist I saw strongly believes that I may have idiopathic anaphylaxis. So she prescribed zyrtec 10mg tabs 2 times a day, and that at the very start of any symptoms to take 2 Benadryl ASAP. I also now carry an Epi-pen should an episode become more severe.

UPDATE
My results came back negative for Carcinoid syndrome. Moving forward my diagnosis is Idiopathic Anaphylaxis. I will meet again with my allergist in 3 weeks. But continuing with the zyrtec, Benadryl, and Epi-pens
