Good day , to all of you with this problem. I myself have had a little bit of irritation between my thighs.

Weight does have  a role in this issue , but its not the main issue.

Friction and sweating is , as well as shaving .

One thing you need to stop doing , is pickin on any pimple , blackhead or scab that form. Because this will creat more bactria and you will damage your skin even more , leaving possible scars . Which will leave you self concious about wearing shorts or even sexual intorcorse . But thats just natrule to feel imbarriesed by this issue. DONT BE, as a batter of fact try  letting that part of the area free more, stop sitting around alot because the fabric of your clothing is an issue as well sense you have sensitive skin. This is why you have the issue .  Start wearing Clothing that doesn't make you sweat and doens't irritate your thighs. Even when you walk if your thighs are rubbing against each other , This will make the problem worse, This is why you need to wear something preventing the skin from rubbing against one another, and if your over weight and can't help the skin from rubbing against one another, u will need to wear clothing that helps from sweating , jeans will not help. over-allStop sitting around the computer so much ,and if you work with computers, make sure you wear  underwear that prevent sweating and cloths  and also use something to put under yur tooshi and thighs , this will give barriers.

Swear clothing that doesn't make you sweat between your tighs

stop shaving in that area for a while and if you must shave - use a sepreat razor and disinfect that area befor and after shaving. Also make sure that area is smooth with anti-inflamitory lotion.

Stop picking at the infected area , dont touch it with your fingers because your hands have plenty of bactria that will make things worse.

If you continue having problems , Go to your doctor . But first try and see if this helps. It takes a good Month to know if the area is improving or getting worse after you start making these changes. Good luck

I have also had this since puberty..even when i was not overweight. It has scared me severly. It is called hidradenitis suppurativa. I have been to more than ten dermatologist and no luck with anything they gave me. Creams, keflex any antibiotic you can think of..those just causes yeast infections or you cant go out in the sun while taking the meds. As for the scarring they say go see a plastic surgeon..yeah cause that is affordable..NOT!!Since I was unaware that it could spread buy using washcloths or scrubbie pads in the area and then wash other places on your body other places on my body with it, I also got them on my breast and under my arms. Change your loofa at least once a month or soak it in bleach. So embarrassing and very hard to hide. Wearing a bathing suit is out of the question unless it has a long skirt to hide my legs. Luckily I married a man who loves me and does not look at it as gross and I let him know when I have one surfacing down there because i dont want them to ooze open while sex. Sorry not trying to be nasty but it does happen and anyone with this condition knows it can. It is very painful and does make you depressed..very much so. I have had them so bad that I could not walk at times. I did try a sulfur soap from the health food store and it does seem to help. It dries the pores temporarily but it ALWAYS comes back. There is no cure. I have had this problem over 20 years. It sucks but I have done all I can. Things like talcum powder and deoderant make it worse..trust me..it helps if i put ice on them sometimes to numb the pain..the only thing you can do is wait till it pops for relief..SUCKS!!!!

Try waxing the area. I too had the problem after puberty and since I started waxing a few years ago, I noticed that the boils or pimples were not forming anymore. Hope this helps. I know how you feel. But never let this affect your self esteem.

I have the same problem. You should seek medical advice. If you are overweight, have this condition, and irregular menstrual cycle contact your GYN. I am a registered nurse who suffers from PCOS and this skin condition is one of the many problems associated with the syndrome. Weight loss, healthy eating, and following up with your MD is the only way to help yourself.

Thank you SO MUCH to those who posted about Hidradenitis suppurativa and ties to PCOS! That is valuable info that makes a lot of sense with my body. In general, thanks everyone for your advice and solidarity.

I have had these problems for a while, and they have gotten worse since I gained weight. A couple of tips:

Intimacy wise, whatever, you're still hot. Don't let it spoil the feeling for you. This person would not be up in your business if you weren't attractive to them. I only ever had one partner comment on my thigh scars, and that person proved to be an all-around jerk anyway. I honestly have left on a band-aid over a really bad bump during hook-ups. It's not an ideal look, but it kept my skin protected. (I find that a little acne cream or anti-bacterial ointment + a Tough Strips stay-put band-aid is the best combo for a variety of situations.) If nothing else, a quick "This is a skin irritation issue I have that flares up occasionally, but it's not an STI, nothing to worry about" comment gets it out of the way.

The reality of human bodies is that they are all different. We all have scars, textures, shapes, whatever. Your partner probably also has something about their body that they would change if they magically could. But the immediate, varied real-ness of human bodies is what makes em interesting to explore.

On swimming, I am so glad I am not the only one. I have another skin/hair problem in this same area. Earlier today I saw some adorable suits at the store, and winced. That said, like hell I'm gonna let this keep me out of the water. I get surf shorts and wear them over my suit. You could try men's trunks, even. I tell people I go swimming with stuff like "I want to move around and be active, not worry about whether my butt is hanging out" or I joke about how I'm so modest that I would wear a 1920s suit with the long legs if I could find one. They get over it. For the most part, other people do not think half as hard about what we're wearing as we do.

Again, thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and information. And don't worry, friends, this is only a couple of little parts of you and you are still the bomb!

Has your Dr. tested you for Lichen Sclerosis? Had boils and blackheads since puberty with no help from Doctors. Finally got so bad in my 50's pain during sex so bad tried one more Doctor and had biopsy prove I had this auto-imune syndrome. Clobetasol steroid cream helps some but also zinc diaper cream for the itch. At least with this diagnosis I know it was not my weight or cleanness that was the cause. Good luck ladies.

Hidradenitis suppurativa From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Hidradenitis suppurativa Classification and external resources ICD-10 L73.2 ICD-9 705.83 DiseasesDB 5892 eMedicine emerg/259 med/2717 derm/892 MeSH D017497 Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a skin disease that most commonly affects areas bearing apocrine sweat glands or sebaceous glands, such as the underarms, under the breasts, inner thighs, groin and buttocks.[1] The non-contagious disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses, epidermoid cysts, sebaceous cysts, pilonidal cyst or multilocalised infections, which can be as large as baseballs or as small as a pea. It can also start as a single abscess and once it pops, can make tracts of many more abscesses. These cysts can be extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation, culminating in incision and drainage of pus, often leaving open wounds that will not heal. For unknown reasons, people with hidradenitis develop plugging or clogging of their apocrine glands.[2] HS causes chronic scarring and pus formation of the underarms (axilla) and groin/inner thigh areas. The simple procedure of incision and drainage provides some relief from severe, often debilitating, pressure and pain. Flare-ups may be triggered by perspiration, hormonal changes (such as monthly cycles in women), humidity and heat, and friction from clothing. Persistent lesions may lead to scarring and the formation of sinus tracts, or tunnels connecting the abscesses or infections under the skin.[citation needed] At this stage, complete healing is usually not possible, and progression varies from person to person, with some experiencing remission anywhere from months to years at a time, while others may worsen and require multiple surgeries in order to live comfortably. Wound dehiscence, a premature "bursting" open of a wound, often complicates the healing process.[citation needed] Occurrences of bacterial infections and cellulitis (deep tissue inflammation) may occur at these sites. Hidradenitis suppurativa pain and depression can be difficult to manage.[3] HS often goes undiagnosed for years because patients are too ashamed to speak with anyone.[3] When patients see a physician or medical practitioner, the disease is frequently misdiagnosed or patients are prescribed ineffective treatments that can be temporary and sometimes even harmful.[citation needed] There is currently no known cure nor any consistently effective treatment. Carbon dioxide laser surgery is currently considered the last resort for those who have advanced to its highest stage, where the affected areas are excised, and the skin is grafted. Surgery does not always alleviate the condition, and may be very expensive.[citation needed] Several articles and clinics consider this disease as widely misdiagnosed, due to the misunderstanding of the causes and progression of the disease.[4] HS is not caused by poor hygiene.[citation needed] HS is often called an orphan illness due to little current research being conducted on the topic. Its incidence rate is not well established, but has been estimated as being between 1:24 (4.1%) and 1:600 (0.2%).[5]

When I first got a boil on my inner thigh 10 years ago, I went to the doctor to see if it had to be lancet. The doctor gave me an antibody to take and told me to sit in some Epsom salt. She said the surface was not hard on top and this would take care of it. It took care of it for the most part, but my bump didn't completely go flat. It was not until recent that my boyfriend asked to see it. He had a similar problem on his back. He told me that my boil probably had a blackhead. He was so right. He told me if I could get rid of the blackhead that would resolve my problem. WE DID. For the first time 15 years later my bump is flat. The blackhead has been the problem all of these years and I didn't know it. Talk to your doctor about this if you have an blackhead (may be called the core). As long as you have that blackhead you will never get rid of your boils.

This made me so happy to see others having this problem. I've never known anyone else with it. I've had it ever since I was about 12, I'm 17 now, & I'm on the bigger side. I've heard multiple different stories about it. Could be sweat, someone even said something about cancer? I just thought I was alone. Yes, I've been sexually active and was very self concious about it. Wouldnt let the lights be on or anything. I've done research before but this is the first time I've ever actually heard about someone else having it! Thanks guys.
