Hi guys, in simple the answer to your problem (acne on back of head etc) is to find the cause, sure one can find lotions shampoos to make the problem disappear for a time, but in fact the problem is still there... to cure your pimples you must find what is causing them, remove the cause and they will simply go away... Most of the time it will be an allergic reaction from with in, if the pimples are sore and begin as small lumps usually this is a sign that the cause is from with in, pimples are the bodies way of releasing toxins that the body's organs aren’t in a healthy enough state to deal with...most people have allergies to something, usually alcohol is the main one (beer mostly), the reason for this is not so much the alcohol but the yeast in beer or the preservatives, these same substances can be found in breads and packet foods... If the pimples are more surface and not so painful yet still annoying, easy to pop so to speak, then you will need to change your hair products... Health is not so hard, simply eat and drink unprocessed goods (vegies, fruits, nuts, lean meats) and do away with fast junk food (chips, soft drinks, chocolate, packet foods, processed meats etc)... drink at least 2 litres of water every day and do at least 30 minutes of exercise, try to get 20 minutes of sunlight, get proper sleep, and eat healthy.. The Body is like a machine/motor, if you don’t service and treat it with respect it will break down eventually.. If you put soft drinks in your fuel tank then your car will stop.. Isn’t rocket science.. We have more skin problems and health issues these days cause we have introduced all this fast processed food... are bodies respond to how we treat them... taking a pain killer cause you have a headache only treats the symptom not the cause, one needs to find the cause, by eliminating problems with drugs you only cause the body to react another way causing more problems and eventually as you age such things as cancer and alike diseases become apparent. Treat your body with respect, good health and you’ll be amazed at how things will heal and allergies will disappear...

Try switching hair care products. I used to have this problem and found that my shampoo, conditioner, etc was causing the problem. My scalp would also itch so bad it drove me crazy.
I now only use salon hair care products. Very rarely do I have have a zit on my scalp.
This may not be your problem but it would sure be worth a try.

Oh my god! That is TOO funny! I don't think it's beer because I don't drink that often. But if that will get you to cut down on your drinking, your barber was a good man.
I also have horrible pimples and dandruff - nobody has mentioned this part of it. The dandruff has been cured by the Anti-dandruff medicated shampoo 2 % from the dermatologist. There is hair loss at levels which has tapered off on the shampoo somewhat. The dandruff was also in my eyebrows and would come off in large single flakes! Yuck! The doc also gave me antifungal/ hydrocortizone comb cream for my face, which worked wonderfully. He also has me on Olux (sp?) a steriod for my scalp. My painful itchy zits are just getting worse though with that stuff and I'm going OCD on scratching my head! I KNOW stress plays a big roll.
There's also acne all over my back and chest. I just got the Proactive regimin - and it works for my face very well. But I'm on antibiotics for a sinus infection so there shouldn't be any acne anywhere, and it's still everywhere else.
I think the idea of antibacterial soap for shampoo probably works because it might have Triclosan in it. Acne washes and antibacterial hand soap often have that in it. So far from what I've read, I think the common link for me is YEAST/ humid weather and stress/ bad eating habits. So you can get rid of yeast overgrowth with meds but unless you change your lifestyle and eating habits, it will return. I suggest purging your guts with a herbal colon cleansing system you can buy at GNC or wherever - and get the kind that has the replenishing "good" bacteria and yeast capsules. Then changing your eating habits - apparently, Atkins/ South Beach diet or vegetarian version of low-carb style. We'll see...

I also have been getting these since I was about 16. I always thought it was football helmets, then after my days were over I still got them. I wear a hat and get them, I don't wear one and still get them. I also keep my hair short (shaved with clippers w/o gaurd) and it seems to help. When it is time for a hair cut they seem to be worse. Regular head and shoulders does not seem to work for me. I take a shower in the morning and at night and it doesn't help. I have used soap on my head and it seems to help some. I wish everyone luck.
thanks for the help, i think exercising sounds about right (helps clear the scalp). exercise and sleep and not stressing sounds like the natural triple threat, ill try that
I have the smae problem, the only thing is, that mine are painful all the time and give me a terrible headache all over in the day time, and night I had my husband pop it and it didnt hurt as much, but now I think its infected. Its gross. and it wont go away.

its a staph infection... rub antibiotic ointment on it about three times a day.
in some cases there is a swollen lymph node on the back of your neck that is a definate indicator of a staph infection. when treating with anti biotics, DON'T PICK OR POP THE BUMPS!!!!!! it will only make it worse as there is bacteria under your fingernails...
get better :-)

Hi every1, like every1 here i have the exact same problem... 3yrs ago i've seen 2 different skin doctors, spent hundreds of dollar in vain to get rid of those maudit pimples on my head. i've them for over 7yrs now btw i'm 24. 1 yrs ago i did some research on the net n searched for people who r in the same situation n tried their solution but it couldn't get better (i've stop taking dairy products, use H&S shampoo, 30mins exercise everyday, stayed in a much clean environment)
i know this might seem crazy but wat i tried apparently is working little by little, even slowly i dnt care at least its working... i guess about 90% of my pimples r gone. I TOOK MARIJUANA AND ITS WORKING FOR ME. i did lot of research on that plant and found lot of things that was never been told to me by any1. How far can you go to get rid of those pimples on your head????????? i'll try 2 post this on every forum i go and plz to so, it can be of great help for sm1 with the same prob.

Well, I heard it was too much Iodine in the diet. I started getting them and I think I traced it to Centrum vitamins that I take. Well, when I stop taking them for about 4-5 days in a row, the bumps pretty much dry up and would disappear. Then when I start taking them again, they reappear, and sometimes with a vengeance lol.
i have had this problem for years. My doc gave me benzaclin and its works great
is called Folliculitis keloidalis and it is very hard to get rid off. I went to skin especialist and he gave me medicine and I'e been taking it for about two years but it only helps it calm down but not go away. I tried proactive solution and it kinda works. just your back of the head with non-oily soap twice a day to help the acne calm down. by the way is not because alcohol, or oily food or anything is due to irritation. try not to touch.
I have had a problem with zits on the back of my head for many years. I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a shampoo in a red bottle that was mixed at the pharmacy that did not work and later I tried a topical cream and that also didn't work. I gave up for several years and just recently went to another doctor who prescribed “Doxycycline Hyclate” which has worked wonders. In the first two days I noticed an immediate change and they have gone away to the point that they are not noticeable. I do however need to take the medicine for a whole month.
Bad news is the doctor did say they may come back.
Hope this helps someone...

I've used Head and Shoulders for several days in a row and that calms it down quite a bit. I doubt it's tied to exercise since I do so nearly every day. My guess is that it may be stress related or lack of sleep. Anyway this shampoo (which I don't use all the time) has solved it for me.
Hi there everyone. I was reading all that was typed and kept coming to this one thoght that might help. Get rid of all the chemicals that we are using!
For years I have dyed, done the leave in thing and sclupting stuff. These things are full of bad ingredients! I wouldn't be surprised if it was causing these symptoms. Of course who eats good? Who get's enough sleep? Your body was made to deal with small amounts of poisions and survive but a daily regeme of toxins can only do a build up of damage. I had dyed my hair lighter and thought that my scalp was sensitive because of that! I know that was the start for me because there wasn't any other incident.
The alcohol idea is understandable as a lot of these conditioners and shampoos have it in there. So you do not have to consume it to have it dry your skin out. And if you drank a lot you probably wouldn't recall.
I have currently switched all my cleaning products over to the natural sources. Sodium Laurel Sulfate is in just about everything -even lotions! Google your ingredients folks it's free~ This can cause dermatitis like symptoms so I have cut it out. I think that it is a good idea to clean and disinfect your hair brushes as well as don't scratch these zits with your dirty nails! Nails are filthy!!
Anyway there are so many nasty ingriedients in the products we use. We are sorta opening pandoras box here because there are so many ingredients that can be left out and don't do anything for you. There is a book on Green Cleaning that shared with me that since the '30's we made our own cleaners and soaps n stuff. After the World War's people saw an opportunity to make money with these same toxins that where created and used to kill people!! Crazy!!!! and NO I am not some freak! But truely I am a poor speller! LOL!
Anyway the ingredients added did not make things cleaner but instead created "toxic homes" look it up for yourselves! The point that I am making here is this- People don't take things off the market until it kills, mames or really hurts a lot of people. Take for example the cleaning products, no one know's what's in them they are a propriatry blend and if there is a problem you call poison control and they litigate what you should do. If there is a serious problem it somehow get's taken off the shelf and we never read or watch it on the news? Hmmm. This is disturbing!
I think that it may take a bit to get rid of. You can't just expect that it's gonna go away over night. I hope but that bump cream could have some really strong ingredients as well. Look if you can not eat it in it's entirety and have complications why the heck would you wear it on your skin. This sounds especially weird to because think of this when I bend my head over to put the leave ins and other junk I will dabb the ends of my long hair and then take up into the roots and around my ears are little crazy hairs that fly away and stick out. So what do I do I rub in this junk and am essentially pushing it into my skin my scalp! Then I tipically rubb my hands all over because some of the junk is volumizing and wipe my hands off literally in my hair. Then I go wash all this c**p off that slimes my hands!!! LOL are ya feeling me?? All that c**p dies to my scalp and then is even harder to get off later I'm sure because I had a hard time getting it off when I initially applied it! Anyway that's my two cents about the matter and hopefully it helps.
By the way one question to ease my sanity? Do all of you twirel your hair, rub your hands in your hair frequently?
My next theory is that the oils are being spread and pushed to clogging along with all the c**p that is already on the hair and scalp??? Ok my hand hurts instead of my head! LOL! Keep your sence of humor people will like you better. Hang in there everyone so sorry we're in the same boat. But there is land in our future.
Thanks,
One bad spelling, zit hunting, freaky, natural momma LOL!!!!

In my experience, alcohol consumption causes bumps. I have to drink a considerable amount of beer for a several days and then they show up. If I slow down/stop for a period, they go away. They are an indicator that something I'm doing to/putting in my body is out of whack. For me, the cause is the beer. For others of you it may be something else you consume. I think 'band aid' type products (such as 'bump' creams or whatever) are ok in the short term, but they are only treating the symptom. You need systemic solutions for permanent results. For me, I know the cause is beer. The solution is to back off my consumption of it.
