hello, I to have just recently discovered this problem on the back of my neck, and recently sides. I to have long hair, I drink beer frequently, and i live a sedentary lifestyle. However i wanted to quickly denounce the one comment made about fat content having anything to do with it. I am about 5'7'' and weigh a mere 115 pounds. If i lost weight, I would die.

Anyway, something I found interesting is that it seems to react like a skin infection with the ways people have used to treat it, and a few people seemed to indicate that they had never once experienced this until they went to a barber. And also interesting enough, think about the locations that this shows up: the back of the neck and around the ears. Well that is exactly where the barber would be shaping using his clippers. I have yet to hear about this on the top of the head or anywhere else. My guess is that whatever method they are using to clean the electric clippers is no longer effective, and we now hav some sort of new disease similar to the Human papillomavirus (warts) or herpes in the ways it infects and effects the skin. And the barbers are unkowingly rubbing these petree dishes on every single customers neck. You know that blue liquid they keep the equipment in to sterilize?  If any bacteria was resistant to it, then that means that blue liquid would be contaminating in stead of cleaning every single piece of equipment. Because the first pairs of clippers contracts the bacteria or virus from the first person who ever had it, and then they dunk it in the liquid afterwards for "cleaning" contaminating every other clipper and spreading it further

I'm sorry to say but this also seems to be like herpes in the sence that one you got it, you got it. (nothing stated here is absolute fact, it is a rough observation based on this thread)

Hey not sure if anyone still pays attention to this but I had an issue with it after I shaved my head this past summer. once I switched to head and shoulders for itchy  scalp and they've cleared up for the most part but I still get them every so often and they hurt like non other and always leave a scar if I or my fiance pops them. I think I'm going to try that bump stopper 2 stuff to see if that helps as well.

doctors when they have no clue prescribe antibiotics,  always follow up antibiotics with probiotics and try to avoid the anti ones as much as possible, long term effects are not good

Even though this is somewhat painful, hot compress also works for me. Every night I spend like 30 minutes putting a hot damp wash cloth on my ance problem areas (this includes in the hair). I put it in the microwave for one minute and then put it on my face on hair or where ever I get ance until the wash cloth gets cold. I put it back in the microwave and move on to another area.

After reading this whole thread it seems there are many people with same problem out there. I have had the same problem since years, getting pimples on head, especially with longer hair and itching. I have been using Head and shoulders since almost a decade now for dandruff and have had this problem. It has also been pushing me to keep my hairs short, like 1-2 inches.

But what has helped me a bit is, what I found while being in drogery store, a hair tonic, i.e. SEBORIN from SCHWARZKOPF. It moistures the hair a bit apart from other things. I use it every morning after taking shower.

The problem has not gone 100% but I notice that the pimples and itching has reduced to a significant level when using this tonic regularly.

Well,, I dont know to what extend it might can work to anybody else, but just wanted to mention in case it helps anybody.

I had the same issues. The comment about exercising is silly with regards to sweating. It's a coincidence.

My pimples would come and go at will and I couldn't figure it out for about 6 years. I've recently found what helps me. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. So, here is what worked for me:

1. I changed my milk from regular milk to almond milk.

2. I stopped eating chicken lunch meat and now eat turkey.

3. I started taking milk thistle

As for #1, I think that many people have mentioned the milk issue so I won't rehash it. As for #2, apparently I have fluoroderma and I wouldn't have believed it until I made changes in what I eat and my water supply.

Fluroderma should be explored as a possible cause to acne. I moved to an area where fluoride isn't in the water supply and stopped eating chicken lunch meat. How does chicken lunch meat have fluoride in it you ask? It's riddled with it because of the way it's made. Check out this link:

Also, I stopped drinking Special K protein shakes because they have fluoride in them as well. Basically, if you have fluoroderma, anything with fluoride may affect you. Some people have a higher sensitivity to it when compared with other people. While the milk change did help, I literally noticed a change in the acne by the next day when I stopped eating the chicken. I don't know if the milk thistle has helped but it hasn't hurt so I'll keep taking it.
