I am a 34 y.o. female and have just self-diagnosed with PR after seeing two doctors who were stumped by my rash. I do have a dermatologist appt in a few days to confirm this, but about 3 weeks ago I developed a small, scaly round path on the back of my thigh. It itched and I thought maybe I had poison ivy or eczema. Then I started to panic that I had ringworm (the patch had grown large and oval and had a rasied outer ring) so I began incessantly washing my hands and body with soap and hot water. About this same time (two weeks after I first noticed the scaly patch) I suddenly started getting all these other little bumps along my arms and legs. After seeing the doctor, who ruled out ringworm, but couldn't identify the rash, I finally found examples of PR online and realized that's what I have! I seem to be one of the minority who get it on their extremities rather than trunk (back and stomach) and I am definitely in the extreme itchiness group. I think I may have made that worse by all the washing with harsh soap though which probably dried out my skin. Now I am using a moisturizing oatmeal lotion, antihistamines, cortisone cream and prednisone for the itchyness. My arms are less affected than my legs which I think may be becaues they get more sun. I'm definitely planning to head to the tanning booth for a little UV light to see if that helps. I will check back in here in a couple weeks to let you know how it all goes, but from everything I have read there IS hope and just knowing that this is not contagious and will go away in a few more weeks is a huge relief. Good luck to all of you!

I'm 16 years old and I got PR about 3 weeks ago or so. My doctor told me it would completely disappear on its own after at most 2 months, and when I go to another appointment in mid February, it should be gone! I luckly have a milder case that is only on my torso and not my arms and legs, and isn't that bright red. I know this is posted like a year after everyone else but I still wanted to comment lol. Oh and also, avoid scratching them as much as possible! This prevents scarring.
I had pityriasus rosea for about 3 months. The itch cream the docotor gave me didn't work, nothing seemed to work. But i found the cure to it :D. The cure is aloe vera. I used the jelly type material inside an aloe vera plant, and immediately my severe itching had suddenly disappeared. The red bumps all over my chest started to fade within a few days. Be sure to sleep on your side with yours hands away from the affected area or you'll scratch it in your sleep and mess things up. So yea don't let any doctor tell you there isn't a cure, because i know for a fact aloe vera cured mine. Spread the word!
Yes, the aloe vera plant also worked for me. Broke open a leaf and spread it all over my chest last fall. Gone in a matter of days. Have it again this year on my arms and just started aloe vera again today and it is already starting to work. Give it a try. Cant hurt! I have fought this every year for forty years. I am 63 and have had this almost every year since my early 20's. Aloe vera is the best treatment that I have tried.
I had pityriasus rosea for about a month. I had it mainly on my torso. My case was no where near as bad as others that I have read about and was gone fairly quickly. In my experience the best cure was sun light and smoking marijuana
hi im 13 i got pr really bad in september went away after 6 weeks ish but i had it really bad got to the piont were even wearing a baggy shirt made it itchy ive always had dryskins but its november now and there are still scars and marks were i hade it makes PE awkward but i think its coming back it sucks i just hope thAt it will go away this time but bfore it stuck to my torso made bras really uncomfy but now its like on my hips weird
I've had pr for about 4 months, my general practicioner diagnosed it, and after googling it, seems about right. Luckily I only have mild itching, but it's not getting any better. It started as one spot on my stomach, then it covered my back, and now its spread a bit to my chest. I will say, the places that I have the rash that were in the sun (my upper back), the rash went away after a minor sunburn. I don't want to resort to a tanning booth, now that it's too cold to lay out, so I'm trying to wait it out. My honeymoon is in 2 months, so fingers crossed it goes away! I will have to try the aloe vera though. Sidenote, I've had skin cancer, so tanning booths are not an option for me :(
