it is ok to change the bloody bandaid and replace it with a fresh one, especially if it is stinky! ;-)
My husband had gallbladder surgery one month ago. He is still has pain, especially when he bends over. He cannot eat anything he wants. Still has to stay away from greasy foods, etc.
I am worried that his pain is not getting much better and will have an effect on his being able to go back to work.
Whoever said gallbladder surgery is a "snap" is definitely wrong.
Has anyone else out there had surgery over a month ago, and how do they feel now?

I had the surgery two weeks ago and feel so much worse. I have alot of pain in my back and have diarrhea. I am having some discomfort when I breathe in. I am so upset and would like to talk with others who have gone through this.
I just had the surgery on THursday (4/23/2009) and am feeling sore, but can already see me feeling better. I did notice a 5 - 7 lbs weight gain following the surgery. The day of the surgery i weighed myself and the day after i was heavier?
Anyone ever run into that?

i have just had my gallbladder out 0n the 7th of may i still feel sick dont feel any better atall scince i had suegery
It takes awhile to feel better. I had mine out April 10 and started feeling better then pain returned to right upper back and burning in stomach just as before surgery. I have been walking, drinking LOTS of water, trying to eat but have no appetite. It is not an instant recuperation as many believe.
:-( I had mine way back in 2005 , i went in on friday morning out on friday afternoon , and back to work on that monday with staples in ,now them little things hurt ,i felt heavy but to find out it was all gas from the surgery ,they blow you up like a ballon and a lot of the gas gets trapped in your body so i had to eat a ton of gas-x my shoulders hurts but i was deflating ,and the pains you feel where your gallbladder is what they call fantom pains . like my brother had to have his leg cut off right below the knee cap but he still gets craps in is calf. but if your still sick like before they took it out ,check with your doctor cause it could be your appendix . I was a EMT for years . remember after a week and you dont feel better call the doctor. so everyone hang in there and get feeling better .

I just had gallbladder surgery 3 days ago on April 19th and I have to say it was a piece of cake. I arrived at the hospital at 6am and left it at 10am and never had any pain just felt sore. Last night I ate some chicken, green beans and a sweet potato and it all sat well in my stomach. I do feel a bit swollen at my belly button area but I figure that should be expected. I am 56 and in pretty good shape and was stunned that I had gallstones since I don't eat fatty foods but hey stuff happens. I've had 2 back surgery for disk problems and I didn't have any pain from those surgeries, maybe I just have a high tolerance for pain.
i'm 27 and I just had my gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago on May 18th and I just saw my surgeon today for the follow up. He pulled my white strips off for me. They should be on there at least three weeks. I felt the same way as everyone on here when I first had my surgery. My stomach was bloated and it was very hard for me to walk and sit. About after a week I was able to walk normal again and i'm getting stronger everyday. I'm still not able to fit into my pants for some reason but I weigh about the same. I went back to my regular diet and drinking so everything is about normal beside wearing pants...it sux. does anyone know how long this will last or is it just my belly fat?
I had it done yesterday. After the surgery the gas they put in your system feels awfaul. My back was hurting more than the wounds. I went home and felt better. At night I had to take the painkillers cause my back and wounds were hurting all together! Today my back does not hurt anymore but my bellybotton does- its like Ive done 1000 sit ups. I still can not walk or sit up straight. My eating has been oK. Lets see waht happens in the next days.
I had my gallbladder taken out in December 2009,i have recntly noticed a lump foring on the right hand side of my incision fro where i had keyhole,i am constantly suffering a bloated tummy where i look 9mnths pregnant,i have a lot of tummy pain to,but i am not having any pain where the lump is forming,i am really worried about as i had it done 7mnths ago,plz can any1 tell me what this lump could be its not painful but really worrying, thank you for your help.
I had my surgery December 20th 09,i am quite a slim person but my tummy looks huge, the lump on the side of the incision is the size of a tennis ball, surely after 7mnths it should all be healed up,the pain in my tummy is unbearable,i have made an appointment for 3pm this afternoon with my own doctor,i will let you all know the outcome, fingers crossed its not fluid or anything to drastic, some people recover differently to other peeps,i think im just u lucky that is hasnt healed properly :-(.
The lumps might be hernias, your doctor can tell you that. I had my surgery in April and as I have regained wgt lost I find my stomach is larger than I would expect. I have read about this following GB surgery but do not know the cause. To the poster who just had the surgery, you will have pain for awhile, it is expected. Take your pain meds as needed. Post op pain eases within a week or two, it is the chronic long term pain that has most people looking for answers.
Arriba, thanks for the info! I was a bit concern about the pain since is not only the incision. I guess the gas is the cause for the internal disconfort. I can walk well now. Have to rest at times but Im almost back to normal except that internal disconfort. About the stomach being larger, I don't know yet (my surgety was done 6days ago) it seems a little bit inflamated but very little. I hope it goes back to normal!!
