im a female and i started smoking pot when i was 15. i weighed 67 kgs. i sat on my bum all day ate and did nothing while smoking and in about a year i weighed 51kgs. smoking made me loose a LOT of weight. as soon as i quit about a year ago i gained about 10kgs and it SU**S :-(
You definitely won't gain weight from QUITTING pot. Have you ever even been high? Have you ever tasted the pure deliciousness that is eating food while baked?
You have definitely missed out
You have definitely missed out
That's where you're wrong. Stopping pot will make you gain weight, as many people have said before. The only people who say 'I thought you get munchies and eat all day' ect ect, they're not pot smokers. I've been smoking weed everyday for 3 years now and i'm going to try my hardest to quit because I think i'm underweight.
Pot speeds up your metabolism. I was a heavy pot smoker for over 15 years...and while on the pot I was quite thin. Its been 5 years since I quit and I have gained about 30lbs. Whilst I dont like the weight gain - I feel much better for having quit. I can think clearly. I can remember what I was doing at any time in the last week or month. I am confident in public situations and work in a job that has me dealing with the public a lot. I can control my emotions. I dream. I dont have bags under my eyes. I no longer have pains in my lungs and chest. I can exercise without huffing and puffing. Im generally much healthier despite the weight gain. Im going to live a lot longer for having quit than I would if i had kept smoking the pot. I also quit cigarettes 4 years ago.
If someone quits pot....be prepared for some weight gain. Also be prepared to live a better quality of life.....and longer.

i quit smokin weed to join the army and in the three years following ive gone from 150 to 200 lbs. and when i smoked pot(alot) i ate what ever and did whatever. now i exercise 2x a day and watch what i eat and still i got frikkin fat.
Its weird , you would think that you would put weight on while you're smoking because you're just sitting round doing nothing , munching on unhealthy foods, but i quit smoking weed about 4 years ago , and i weighed 12 and a half stone , 4 years down the line i weigh close to 15 stone and go jogging regurly. i cant seem to control my eating habits or stopping gaining weight its ridiculous. I have lost some weight from jogging but then i just put it back on. i want to get back down to twelve and a half. Im gonna really go for it this year with the exercise and try control then eating.
It's been about 45 days since quitting smoking weed (smoked daily, 20 bong rips a day, for about 4 years). I used to weigh 135 lbs with 10% body fat. Since i quit, i've been working out 3 times a week (something i never did 45 days ago) but i still gained weight. I'm at 145 lbs. with 15% body fat. i guess my bad eating habits are catching up, but it's strange that those years of lethargic activity coupled with those bong rips never led me to gain any weight but now exercising and weed-free has led me to gain weight. it's pretty frustrating.
Hi all,
I have smoked dope daily for 10-12+ years (im trying to be modest). I have finally quit, about 3 months ago now. I know some of you will say that 3 months is not quitting, but the longest I have not smoked is about 2 weeks and i've realised its now or never. I am a 30year old woman. Since hanging up the "green" I have put on approx 18 pounds and counting. Does it really stuff with your metabolism or is just all in the head? I appreciate "guest" from 12/27/09 - 23:32 as I do feel alot better in myself, I just don't want to feel bad about being overweight now. Replace one problem with another............... ( ya's know what I mean).
Can you guy's and gal's help me as I figure we are on the same wavelength?????????

Hi,
I have been smoking weed for 5 years and I was eating after every blunt and every few bowls. I haven't missed a day in all that time. One thing I can say is that it has most definetly affected my weight. I am a 27yr old female and 6ft and I weigh 145 right now. I used to weigh 175. I just recently decided to to stop smoking a few days ago and already my face is clearer, and my body feels alot healthier. I am sure I will be putting my weight on again. I just really want to look sexy again. I miss my curves. Right now my legs don't touch all the way up. I look like I starve myself.

i think it may be different for everyone. but i was a heavy pot smoker for 2 years and lost a lot of weight even though i wasn't exercising or eating less. i'm sure i was eating worse. now in the 3 months since i've quit i've gained 20+ pounds. then again it could also be a boredom thing. you know eating to fill the emptiness from not smoking.
So over the past month or so I was smoking around 6 grams a day to myself. I finally decided to quit and get clean about 11 days ago. I went from weighing 145 to 128 in that small amount of time. Maybe that may not be the case for you, but stopping is definatly making me loe weight :-)
dude pot is the best thing on earth i smoke every day pot makes u gain weight if you eat but if you dont eat and get stoned u loose weight trust me my bestfriend used to be a wrestler how do u think he dropped weight? lol but pot makes your skin saggy...
I struggle with eating disorders myself and it's been pretty hard for me not to got back to smoking weed. It's been just over a month now and in that month I have gained 7lbs. I'm freaking out some what as you can imagine!! I'm eating a exercising exactly the same as I did before I quit smoking.
When you smoke pot every day for a while the 'munchies' tend to dissipate unless you get some super ream bud! You get high because your body rinses up the sugar in your body, that combined with the appetite suppressant that is tabbcoo, you've got a pretty good way of keeping ur weight down without trying! but of course that means once you quit your screwed.
I'm hoping it doesn't take long for my body to readjust. I've started to exercise more now and to find some spicy food to speed up my metabolism but nouts working so far...
I'm being observed very closely so fasting and restricting are out of the question... and I can't start smoking again... urg!
anyways! giving up weed is good, im alot more motivated and am able to leave my front door now so it's worth it i guess. I think you've just gotta do one thing at a time. stop smoking then stop eating... ha!

This is very interesting. I have never heard of people losing weight from smoking weed. I smoked weed everyday multiple times a day for the last 4 years. About 4 Months ago I started smoking once every week...then once every two weeks....and when I started Graduate school I decided it was time to just stop for a while and see what happens. I stopped smoking entirely for over a month now and if anything ive lost a few pounds. I did not experience any strange eating habits though. No stomach aches, no lack of appetite either...I guess I just lucked out? or is this going to hit me like a brick wall in a month or so? eep.1
well i will say it does speed up your metabolism. i smoked from the age of 12 till i was 21 [i quit cause i was going to start school] i've gone from 125 to 145lbs. i couldn't believe it!
