Random itching all over my body

Hi all
I'm 22 and female, and for quite a long time I have been suffering from itching all over my body, mainly during the night. It will occur almost every single night and it is so irritating that I can never sleep!
The only allergy I know of is of a certain body wash that I once used...but that was a few years ago and quickly stopped using it. I have had the itching for as many years as I can remember, but it has always been extremely rare and only seems to occur at night, just when I'm trying to sleep. (Typical.) However, last year when I moved house, I suffered from it slightly more often (roughly every few weeks?). And in March this year, my boyfriend and I moved into a flat together, and since then, I have had it very nearly every single night. I have tried sleeping tablets (just the over-the-counter type) but with no luck. Doesn't matter how tired I am.
I have used the same body wash and shampoo for years and like i said, it used to pretty much never occur, so I ruled out allergies to that. The same applies to washing powder for my clothes etc, and my diet has always been the same.
It only seems to occur at night, and it's mainly on my legs, but it does occur all over (from head to toe!). I haven't ever had any kind of rashes or visible problems. I sometimes apply moisturiser, which can help a little but not always. I try to avoid scratching at all costs!
Erm what else...my boyfriend has never seemed to suffer from it (we share a bed). One thing I've heard that can cause itching is mould, and there is a little of it in my bedroom. However, when we moved in, we slept in a different room, and also, why would I have itched last year when I lived in a different house??
ARGH every night is almost guarunteed to result in no sleep at all...it's getting me down so much and I feel so exhausted. Funnily enough though....I usually find I can sleep during the daytime! I try to avoid it so I won't mess up my sleeping pattern, but it's the only time the itching isn't too bad.

I had this and went to my doctor he ran tests and all was negative. I was on predizone which helped greatly, unfortunately you can only be on it for a short time. As soon as I got off predizone the itch came back driving me nuts. I went back to my doctor and asked for sleeping pills to help me get past the itchiness. The doctor did not like this but he heard me out on the same issue for so long that he gave me a low dose of a Zipiclone. A sleeping pill which in the morning you would feel refreshed rather then drowsy. Only took 2 straight nights of taking this pill and the itch was gone for good. I believe my itch at night was due to stress which didn't give my body a good night sleep. Good luck hope you find your source of help.

You have hpv virus. This particular strain attacks the nurves and attaches it self slowly. One cell at a time. You can't see it it because it's not like the rest of the other hpv viruses. It has infected the central nervous system of your genitals, that's why you itch all over. There is a cure but believe me it can be extremely painful do to the fact that it attaches itself to the nerve endings.

-A quick and easy check for scabies is black/dark dots or marks on your body that steadily appear. Also you would be itching day and night.. So for those of you losing your mind over having scabies because you have a slight itch don't you worry, itching only occurs at the area of infestation (which does spread). The solution to scavies however, as said, is correct
Just thought I'd make sure this wasn't making people lose their minds over a stress itch or iron deficiency
This is the beginning stages of leprecy and you need to an ER now
Chemical bath and skin graft!!
That's ridiculous. And misspelled.
Blood test for what exactly I've suffered from this for almost 6 years hives and everything
Scabies cause a rash, is VERY contagious, and would have been noticed by someone during this prolong period.
It is true that iching can be cancer.in the brest and lungs.telling people this vould save a life.
Absolutely true in my daughter's case. Started with random awful itching.
What kind of blood test for itching
Amen!! Yes indeed
Omg I have had the same thing happening to me for years! And I also find I can sleep during the day but night time is hell. I do itch during the day as well but not so severe. I'm worried it may be my kidneys or liver. I don't seem to have dry skin so I don't think it's that.
