Random itching all over my body

Hi all I'm 22 and female, and for quite a long time I have been suffering from itching all over my body, mainly during the night. It will occur almost every single night and it is so irritating that I can never sleep! The only allergy I know of is of a certain body wash that I once used...but that was a few years ago and quickly stopped using it. I have had the itching for as many years as I can remember, but it has always been extremely rare and only seems to occur at night, just when I'm trying to sleep. (Typical.) However, last year when I moved house, I suffered from it slightly more often (roughly every few weeks?). And in March this year, my boyfriend and I moved into a flat together, and since then, I have had it very nearly every single night. I have tried sleeping tablets (just the over-the-counter type) but with no luck. Doesn't matter how tired I am. I have used the same body wash and shampoo for years and like i said, it used to pretty much never occur, so I ruled out allergies to that. The same applies to washing powder for my clothes etc, and my diet has always been the same. It only seems to occur at night, and it's mainly on my legs, but it does occur all over (from head to toe!). I haven't ever had any kind of rashes or visible problems. I sometimes apply moisturiser, which can help a little but not always. I try to avoid scratching at all costs! Erm what else...my boyfriend has never seemed to suffer from it (we share a bed). One thing I've heard that can cause itching is mould, and there is a little of it in my bedroom. However, when we moved in, we slept in a different room, and also, why would I have itched last year when I lived in a different house?? ARGH every night is almost guarunteed to result in no sleep at all...it's getting me down so much and I feel so exhausted. Funnily enough though....I usually find I can sleep during the daytime! I try to avoid it so I won't mess up my sleeping pattern, but it's the only time the itching isn't too bad.

Got the same itching problem, its not so severe during the day but could not sleep in the nights. I am also a diabetic. If some one had the same problem and have come out of it now. do share your details
hello sir, I've the same and I took antihistamin for half month it worked after week it returned again! I really really feel so annoying as it's three months and half now? please advise and how long I've to take this pills in case half month was not much? I highly appreciate your advises :)
Get some Benadryl take it at night... This will take the itch away at night so you can sleep... I have had this problem for years and years... So times I won't have no problem at all other night it itches sad bad it drives me crazy. I take Benadryl those nights then it does not seem to bother me for another 4 or 5 days.. Try it and see if it works... If it does then you have some kind of skin problem like me..
Did you end up finding up what was wrong ? What about candida ?
Started itching a few days ago it's getting worst everyday weping up a lot of red bumps popping up.
...it was not scabies. ive had it before too..and my whole family got it. if your scabies went on longer your boyfriend would have gotten it.
Have you gotten it fixed now
Saying it's a minor issues means you haven't dealt with it. I have been itching since 18 years old... so twenty years I've dealt with this miserable feeling and doctors cannot figure it out... try living with wanting to rip your skin off 24-7
love what you said about liberals lol and good advice see a doctor
Do you still think gluten free is the way to go? I see this is a year old post. I'm desperate to find an answer
Sounds serious. If you like I can give you a hot squirt of my man cream to help soothe the itching.
I also became itchy. The allergist said take an antihistamine and it worked for 4 years. 20mg at night of reactine. I skipped the drug for 2 days because i was driving and I was fine. Then I had popcorn. and became my normal super itchy, can't sleep without reactine. Now I avoid corn and have NO symptoms, same stress (Doctors are quick to tell you to reduce stress), (NOTE: Corn is in everything, google "Corn Allergen List" , and every type of it causing itching to a degree). Also, skin is not dry.
it could be chronic systemic inflammation in the body that is just your body's way of dealing with perceived toxins like too much sugar, or whatever it might deem to be alien like gluten, sugar, dairy. Every person's body is different, however, so just because my body has a difficult time processing sugar doesn't mean that your body will be the same. you have to figure out for yourself what foods give you energy and which foods take it away. It could also be dry skin maybe you are not getting enough water or too much caffeine even stress will dry you out. good luck. I get itchy too at night, and so I take a shower and put on lotion right after to help dry skin that usually helps.
Yes not a doctor should not assume.
