Hi I stumbled upon this after trying to find out what is wrong with me. I am having severe pain in my right flank, bloating, gas and nausea. I have been to the ER and doctor and they both think I am crazy. I am happy to see that I am not the only one in this pain. I am determined to find out what is wrong with me and fix it!

WOW...I am glad to have found this thread.  I too have developed pain in my upper right quadrant and around to my back since having my gallbladder out 3 months ago.  I recently went to see a gastroenterologist who walked into the exam room and barely listened to what I had to say before he told me I had Costochondoritis, inflammation of the cartilage in my ribcage and sternum.  He then ranted about me being "FAT" and told me I would never feel good as long as I am Fat, as if it's my fault I am in pain and I deserve it.  He put me on an Ibuprofin 800 regimen for a month.  It has been 4 days and I have noticed no change in the pain I have under my upper right ribcage.  It is a stabbing pain that hurts 24-7.  I don't want to live with this pain for the rest of my life, however long or short it may be.  Ideas??

I am so sorry to hear of your problems why is it doctors do not listen to the patient ..and also try to exsplain things to exspect after an op

.......you must give it time for your gallbladder op to heal inside your body ........and settle down it is a painful op and eaisier when it was with keyhole surgery ..but still surgery ..with pain ....

mine was not I have a large scare to prove mine was done ...take it easy also as you need to try to rest after the shock to your body...perhaps you have been overdoing it ....painreliver is not the answer !!!though you may find it helpful .....nature has to take its course ,,,,scar tissue will accour (adhesions) sorry to say and they do not bother some folk at all ........Take Care God Bless Good Luck Margaret UK

I've heard in some postsurgical adhesion problems they now used 'banding' of the adhesions to remove the adhesions, this is suppose to prevent further adhesions as well......might want to google 'banding of adhesions' and see what info comes up.

Had my gallbladder out in 1999 and kept having pain like I never had it removed. It has recently gotten better in the last few years. I believe it's sphincter of oddi but haven't been checked for it. Google it it may help.

I am so glad I found this thread.  I have been having pain on the right side of my rib cage since I have had my gallbladder surgery 2 1/2 years ago.  The pain has gotten worse and now I have blotting.  I can feel a mass in the area of the pain.  I had a CAT scan and was told by my doctor I was FOS.  I will now go back to the doctor and express my concerns again since I know this is not a phatom pain.

I also had my gall bladder removed, a year ago, since then, i get a lot of pain just above my belly button, and it is so tender to touch, i get very bloated and look like i am 7 months pregnant at times, which is crazy as i am 51 years old and had a hysterectomy 9 years ago. the pain i experience seems to move over to the right further sometimes, i also have terrible indegestion with almost everything i eat, i have days when i just can not go to toilet for number 2's, and when i finally go its so hard and dry, other days i have extreme diahreah, sorry about the spelling, and i will go about 3 times in a day, i also get reflux which is really awful.

I have had ultra sounds, and an MRI, and both come back clear, i just dont know what to do anymore, i am so fed up with the pain every day, i am tired all the time, and have had to buy a size bigger in all my clothes, which is very depressing too, my husband keeps urging me to go back to my gp, but what is the point? i also can not stand the thought of another MRI, as i am very claustrophobic, and it took all my willpower not to panic during the last one, please any advice or help would be so apreciated, it astounds me on how many people are suffering with the same symptoms i am getting, after all, werent we all told before the surgery that we would all be back to normal after a few weeks, and there were no known side effects to the surgery, what a load of c**p (sorry) but if i had known before hand how much i would be suffering, i am sure i would have thought twice about having the surgery, and suffered the pain and sickness i used to get, because as far as i can see, i really am no better off.

thanks for reading, and my sympathies really go out to you all who are suffering like i am.

Check out the Wurn Technique. Do a search for clear passage which is physical therapy that breaks up the scar tissue through massage instead of surgery.

I have been having the same issue. I had a cat scan and they found nothing and last week I had an endoscopy and they found nothing, so the doctor thinks it is my gallbladder surger scar tissue and wants me to go have a steroid injection. I am a little apprehensive about this because I am sure they hurt and I am concerned that it won't help. Has anyone else been told to have an injection?

I have also had the same problem for over 5 years after surgery. I also had liver cancer and had the liver re-section. I am only 49 years old. I have been in remission for over 5 years and happy to be alive. If you want the pain to stop, don't eat any fatty foods, fruits or soft drinks. Raw fruits are hard on your digestive system and will always cause. I can go sometimes 4-5 months without pain than i mess up and eat to much sweets or eat out. No fries at all or hamberger meat it is to fatty
