Hi I had a ablation in 2010 no period or pain for 2 years. Then for the next year I had pain no bleeding then bleeding no pain on and off. With in the last 2 years I've been getting mostly symptoms period pain and bleeding same time every month. I'm getting same symptoms this past fortnight as I was before the ablation like pelvic pain back and abdominal pain all excruciating. I'm seeing my gp tomorrow

I had the thermal ablation procedure done yesterday. when I left the hospital, on my way home the medicine must have worn off because I had extreme cramping. I can only compare it to contractions. it lasted for 3 hours! I threw up 5 times and was extremely nauseas and light headed. That may be because I'm a lightweight when it comes to pain meds but the pain was unreal! I was in bed in tears. I had my first child with no pain meds at all and that's exactly how it felt (minus the pushing) after a few hours, ibuprofen and a nap, the pain faded. Today I feel 100% better, but being curious about my side effects, I stumbled on this post and read all of your comments and cant help but to feel discouraged about the future. I had 3 friends highly recommend the ablation, but all have gotten it done fairly recently, so they may begin to suffer these side effects. I was so desperate to do something about my horrible heavy periods and do it fast as our insurance changes next month, that I failed to do proper research. I am beginning to regret that

I had the procedure done 3 years ago, twould yeas after my last child aND a tubal. I suffered from horrific menstrual cramps and heavy perods since I was 11 years old. After the ablation, my period was completely gone but stayed "bloated" since. I have been experiencing the same even more painful cramps as well. Two months ago I really thought my uterus was going to come out!!! I had a regular annual and my doctor said everything was normal. I don't feel normal and I am glad that I am not going crazy and others are feeling the same symptoms. Ibuprofen 800 does absolutely nothing for my pain and the bloat is annoying. I have a sonogram scheduled for Thursday and whether or not it comes out normal, I am going to start looking into having a hysterectomy. I am done suffering! Praying everyone who has posted gets complete healing.

I am a bit shocked by the negative stories regarding ablations. I had one in June 2013 and at first things seemed good. Unfortunately my OBGYN is no longer in practice where I live and this morning I made an appointment with a new practice that I hope will listen. I am now experiencing such intense pain/pressure and other issues that I am desperate for answers. I refuse to accept phantom pain and I will NOT take prescription meds. That is not acceptable. There is nothing phantom about this situation and something is not right. I need some answers. I am healthy, active and strong willed but the way things are now after the ablation is challenging.

Hi, I had a Novasure in August.. No periods until January.. But the pain every month is excruciating, like pain I've never ever experienced before! I've had an ultrasound scan, nothing to show. My dr has now prescribed tramadol and the contraceptive pill, after already being on naproxen and codeine. If it happens again this month, I'm ensuring they'll refer me back to a gynaecologist.
I was also sterilised 2015, didn't have any problems with pain between these procedures though.
Good luck

I had a laproscopy ablation done 1 month ago. I am still having bleeding and last week feel that I had a full period and the cramps were worse than they every were prior to my surgery and endometriosis, My lower back pain is continual and cramps on my lower right side on regular since the surgery. I was told that it could be stenosis of the uterus lining shedding. Does anyone know about this, experienced it?

This is exactly the pains that I have been having. I read that even a teaspoon of blood on the cervix will cause this amount of pain. I too went to the hospital and they did an ultra sound and a ct scan. The ct scan (which is what you need) showed a thick lining of the uterus. I had to have a d & C. The pain was so bad that even morphine was not strong enough. He did the procedure without putting me to sleep My pain is relieved but not gone. After the drugs all wore off, I am still having some cramping. I am seeing him tomorrow. We are trying to avoid a hysterectomy . At this point I want it all gone.

Hi. I know you wrote about your ablation over a year ago but I would like to hear how you are doing today especially since you mentioned switching to a different doctor. I too am having similar pain. They feel like labor pains and 800mg of ibuprofen doesn't help at all. Luckily it only lasts 2 days. I too have the very dark "blood" but it doesn't come out. I see it when I wipe after peeing. Anyway, I hope you are tons better a year later and I would love to hear if you found some resolution.

Hi. I am going through the same thing in your story you wrote. It's almost 3 am and I've been up since 12:30 am and can't sleep b/c of horrible pain. I like to ask you, what did you end up doing? My doctor recommended hesterractomy or getting on the birth control pill. I have light bleeding, brown color. This has been going on now for 3 months. Thank you

I gett exactly the same thing. It has been 8 year since I have had the ablation done and now for the past 13 months I am experiencing a period pain from hell. I dont know where to go or what to do next. My doctor that performed the surgery is now retired and no one seems to understand what its all about or how to help. Its aweful
