I had the ablation surgery and a tubal ligation (I opted to have my tubes tied rather than clamped) in 2007. It is now 2016 and I'm having severe period like abdominal cramps. Up until now, I have been thrilled with the procedure. My periods have stopped completely and have yet to return, The pre-menstrual symptoms had slmost vanished. Prior to the surgery I had horrific cramps and extremely heavy periods. After reading these posts, I will be discussing a partial hysterectomy with my doctor. I am curious to find out what my uterus looks like and what is causing the pain. I have a very high tolerance of pain, and in fact had my first child without any pain medication whatsoever. (My second and third child's births were out of the norm. I was in labor with my third child for over 24 hrs). Thank you all for your posts and letting me know there is more to this. Now I know I need to seek medical attention before it gets worse, The pain I'm experiencing now is very similar to the pain of my periodontal the worst day. Thank you again, By the way, I live in Marin County, If any of you know of s good OB/GYN in the area, I would love to know. Thank you!

I am in the same boat as you.
Now that I read these posts I am getting nervous. Did anyone have true success?

Has anyone found a doctor that knows what this is? I have had this procedure done less then a year and I don't know how long I can take this pain.

Does everyone's pain go away after their "period" time? I am curious as the worst pain I have had since my ablation started last Monday a week and half ago and hasn't quit. I had a CT scan done that showed a excessive amount of fluid in my uterine cavity. So I am wondering if this is the cause or if something else is going on. I am going to the doctor again tomorrow but really would like some relief. Just wondered if anyone has had pain that has last this long.

My pain subsides after my period. I had my ablation almost 3 years ago. I now feel the pulling cramps. On my right side that go in waves and my lower back feels like I'm in labor, good luck.....

Hi! Wondering if the contraceptive pill worked for you? I haven't heard anyone else talking of trying this route. Thanks :)

I had an ablation a few months ago. I had it because I was having very heavy periods and severe pain on my right side. I have had painful periods for the last few years to the point that I usually end up in bed for at least half a day everytime. I have 7 year old twins so its not easy to carry on. Before the ablation my OB said that it may not solve the pain part.. Just the bleeding. That is the case. I hardly bleed at all now which is great.. However I still get horrific pain and horrible hormonal imbalances. I have tried taking ibuprofen starting a day or 2 before hand to try and get on top of it and nothing helps. I am 44 and literally had enough. I did have an ultrasound earlier in the year which showed everything was ok. Its always on the right side.. Right down low and radiates down to my right knee and all across my back. I think I am going to have to have a hysterectomy. I can't keep living like this.

I myself am currently experiencing the same thing. I had the procedure completed three years ago, and haven't had a period since.....last month. However, it was such a small amount, it was seriously nothing to speak of and I had zero pain. Fast forward to yesterday, I was in a meeting with the CEO of my company, as well as the entire finance department. Needless to say it was important. Anyways, I almost walked out because I couldn't take the pain of "period cramps", and I also called into work today because they kept me up all night. This is extremely worse than anything I've felt prior to the ablation. #Help

I had the procedure Endometrial Ablation done April 2015, due to having very heavy periods and my blood count was very bad, dropping down to a 6 and I was anemia real bad.... I didn't have a cycle in may after the procedure however come June 2015 I had one and every month after that I had one up UNTIL March 1st and March 28th, I had two periods that month and that was my last period; April, May, June, July, August, NO period BUT on August 12 I had severe cramping really bad for several long hours.. When I got home all I could do was sit in a tub of hot water and I took some pamprin...... today is Monday, not so bad.

I am sorry we are all going through this. I am going to see another OBGYN next week to discuss options. I feel like my other OBGYN just doesn't seem to get it. She kind of makes me feel like she wants to just say "Suck it up" We shouldn't have to be in this much pain.. So much that we can't function. Before the ablation i had bad pain anyway and really heavy periods. She told me then that it may not sort out the pain unless it was related to heavy bleeding and clots. Well the heavy bleeding stopped but not the pain. I am ready for a hysterectomy. I just can't keep doing this.
