Been dealing with constant stomach noises for over 3 years now. Started in 9th grade hasn’t gone away. I quit school when it started happening I’ve been to multple specialist but they haven’t helped, I’ve taken hundreds of medications that haven’t helped. I literally just sit home every single day and never leave the house, I deny hanging out with my friends, girls etc. this has made me super depressed, I see no future in my life with this problem, but I’ve been pretty strong mentally. This is such a simple problem that must have no fix. On top of the constant stomach noises I get hungry all the time so if there’s no food when I go somewhere I have to deal with stomach growls from food and Thai f*****g weird problem. Would say it gets better but it doesn’t.

I have the same problem. It started somewhere before high school (like 12-13yo probably). It completely killed my social life same as many others mentioned in this thread. Attending church became the biggest nightmare since the kids standing behind me used to at me. So did exam halls, cinema etc.

I do think this has something to do with adolescents and anxiety- just not sure if anxiety triggers this condition or starts due to it.
I hoped it’ll go away when I grow up...

Now I’m 27 and still the same (Did talk to my parents, doctor etc - they had the generic diet, its all ok its normal kind of response). Only good thing is - when you get older and be around older people, they are a bit more mature and prob won’t laugh at you - some might cough as if something is wrong if they are new to you. Meeting new people is still terrifying.

Never had a girlfriend in my life.I’m doing well in my career, most of the time I sit in front of computers... but still there are those meetings, flights etc with same problem.
Having no social life and plenty of time to think about life I’ve turned into  a Thanos/Joker/Agent Smith/Grinch like character. I can now easily relate with villains. I have started hating most of humanity, all it’s wrong doings and how f*cked up the systems humans are in and how it fu*ks up everything around them. If an asteroid comes at earth with a doomsday label on I’ll be one of those exited few - I’ve nothing to lose despite having money. This is where I am right now living for 15 years with this condition and still going.

Sending my love for my brother/sister that ended their post here with a “GG”.If life is a game we are playing it in one of the hard modes... good luck.

i used to have a similar issue, but the stomach growling/anal growling wasnt as big of an issue for me but i got frequent diarrhea and gas. Especially if i ate butter- but no other dairy products gave me issues. It was weird. I ended up doing Whole30 with my problens pretty much went away. I couldnt tell you which foods caused it because during the post Whole30 phase where you reintroduce foods systematically to see what may give you a negative reaction, i didnt have any negative reactions.

I used to have the exact same problem as you did! I’m currently a junior now and have felt something that has really helped me. These same growls and such used to happen to mee all the time during the second half of my sophomore year. I would try to leave school bc if it and my grades decreased due to all the anxiety from it. Junior year I was having such a hard time focusing that I started using Vyvanse. Vyvanse has helped me tremendously! I learned that if u have your focus off of the growers it helps majorly. Although Vyvanse is a treatment for adhd I use it for this too. It allows me to not focus on these groweks but rather concentrate on work and such. i recommend to try Vyvanse if your still having these troubles and if it helps u let me know!

I completely agree I used to have the same problem but once I started taking Vyvanse (for ADHD) those problems went away since I was thinking about my work rather than my stomach.

Okay, so I am pretty sure you cant burp. I and many other people have and had this problem. It causes gurgles in you throath and your butt area. In reddit there is a forum called no/burp where everyone with this can help each other. I actually learned to burp by doing shaker excersice(you will learn about it in the forum), I no longer have gurgles, I can burp, and the butt noises are not that common anymore for me. Hope you get better.

Hi, I currently face this problem, but i have found a way to counter it. Everyone is different so I’m not sure it will work on you, but I think it might be due to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). So, as a result, I bought a gas medication called Gas-X (the pills) and I’ve been following a low fiber diet (Search up low-fodmap diet) and instead of eating one big meal at once, I would eat small portions of meals (two small meals and at least 3-4 snacks) with the least fiber as possible. Before the small meal I would swallow a Gas-X pill and then after the meal take another one. I’ve been taking at most 4 daily (two with each meal) and it’s not unhealthy to take these daily (according to online). It’s been helping so far. If I feel my stomach start trouble, I try to poo it out in the bathroom before a big test or a quiet class and it usually helps. Good luck and remember everyone’s different so not sure if this will help but it’s what I’ve been doing so far.

This is sooo crazy! I LITERALLY THOUGHT I WAS ALONE. So I have the same issue, the same anxiety. I am currently a third year college student. This issue started to occur when i was maybe a sophomore in high school. But it would just get worse and worse. I too hate quiet classroom. One of my English courses has silent reading days, It was the absolute worst. I also still watch the clock during classes and dread going because of it. I hope someone will have an answer for it one day!!

I know this feeling.
I also had difficult time going to school and being embarrassed because of growling sounds coming from my stomach. To get rid of this problem, I started eating every morning before going to school, but that didn't solve my problem. Then I forced myself to have bowel movements early in the morning and it was a nightmare. Sometimes, I would be almost an hour on the toilet seat. In order to have BM, I ate dried plums, drank coffee, tea and sodas. It was very difficult, and helped me only for a bit. Finally, the one thing that helped me the most was the dietary change. By including more veggies and fruits and cutting out much of dairy products, my stomach went back to normal.
Also, check if you are intolerant to certain type of foods because that's very likely.

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THE GROWLING
I had the growling everyday for a year and I hated when the classroom got quiet because I was so afraid it was going to happen. I went to the doctor and got tested for Celiac Disease. Trust me its either CELIAC DISEASE or you are lactose intolerant. Everyone is talking about Anxiety on this form and this does play a key role. People can have the gene for Celiac Disease and when you go through a stressful experience in your life or you are just an anxious person, the gene can turn on. This is what happened to me Sophomore year. I went gluten free and I haven't had the growling in years. However, since Celiac is an Autoimmune disease, stress can make the symptoms a million times worse. So....to the people that are on this form who said that its just anxiety, that is not 100 percent true. Yes if you are anxious about it, it will just make the growling worse.
THESE ARE THE STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE
1. Go to the doctors and ask for a blood test to check for celiac disease
2. If they say you have it, then you need to go 100% gluten free (it took me about a year to feel completely better and this is because your intestines are torn apart and need to heal) and in addition, you need to make sure that if you are an anxious person, you need to learn how to control this. Since Celiac is an Autoimmune disease stress makes the symptoms flare up
3. If you do not have it....still try going gluten free for about 2 months just in case you are gluten intolerant
4. If that doesn't work, try going lactose free or get a breath test for lactose intolerance
Best of luck to everyone! Know that you are not alone
