This is an old post and I'm curious, were you able to fix this problem ? I'm 32 yrs old male, and have the exact same problem. Only diff is that my pain is very faint/low... and I can feel the pain only when I stretch my neck up. ENT said nothing to worry, but this is the 2nd time i'm having this pain in last 3 weeks, ... it lasts about 4 days both times. I have NO SWALLOWING DIFFICULTY, no pain felt when touched, no swelling, no visible oddness on my tounge/neck... just this faint pen on the left front side of the neck when I stretch it up. What could it be ??
yeah im having these same symptoms, they only started a few days ago but ive always had good health so its really strange. im kinda worried as it seems this thing can get worse and no-one seems to know what it is... its really annoying and i dont know if i should go to the doctor cause there really seems to be no point. if anyone gets any info on this please help.

I found this site trying to figure out the same pain in my neck on the left side that has been described here.... here is what I found for me - The pain started and was at full strength in about one hour. I first thought it was a gland problem. I then concluded I had something like a sore tendon in the spot most all of you are describing. I was able to locate the muscle group that was on the outside of my jaw that seemed to connect to that tendon and messaged the area/tendon for quite a while. The pain seemed to move from the inside of my neck to the muscle group at my jaw line. I took two Tylenol and began to feel the pain lessen. I went to bed. I had very little pain this morning. Hope this helps.
I am experiencing the same thing. I am not going to a doctor but am going to try anti biotics. I'll let everyone know if they work.
I have the same problem in my neck. In researching this topic, I have found other sites and people who have the same symptoms and turns out a bacterial infection. I am going to the dr this week. Wishing you all the best.
I have exactly the same pains. Not in the throat but in the right side below the jaw, when I touch the muscles there they feel sore. Went to a doctor, gave me a chest xray for some reason. Everything normal. It hurts when I move my neck but when I drink it hurts even with no movement. Don't know if this is related but have been having a terrible time breathing for the past 9 months. Can barely sleep. Could be my stomach acid problem.
this just started happening to me 2 days ago...lyk ryt after i was choking on my drink.its been getting worse, but i dont know wat it is. I need it to get better before tuesday, which is wrestling championships for cities.help?
I have some of the similar symptoms as most of you. Even though the doctor found nothing for you all I believe you all have something and should not stop addressing it. My soreness is about an inch below the jaw and about 1 inch to the left from center. I feel bones running horizontally at the top (biggest bone) of my front neck.. (they kind of feel like rib cage bones) The sore, which has been present for over 2 months, is located just on top of that top bone - to the left - there is a bump - which is not present on the other side. I just pressed it, wiggled it, and I feel normal now, but for how long? Will it get worst to the point that when I do that it will not help? It just helped this time for about 2 minutes. When I press it, it is a minor pain. I am guessing I am at the early stages of something that I don't want! 2 months is a long time to have this soreness, only at 24. I have been bothered and exposed to smells lately. Some of them, strong tobacco smells and other grouse smells like cat litter and sometimes the landfill that is closeby. Maybe some others can relate here. At if we cannot pin point the problem, at least maybe we can relate on what is causing this. Not many in here explained anything about there environment which may have caused this. I have looked on the net about lymph Nodes, but still not sure if thats where it is.. PLEASe help me at least figure out where this is located! Please help!
Also, When I swallow with my neck tilted up, it feels more sore than tilted down, which hardly feels sore.
My mother also likes to have chemical air sprays in different rooms. They don't smell bad, but some of them smell not the greatest. Wondering if that could have caused it also. Maybe women are secretly killing us with there love for smells!?
I also have achiness in the front left of my neck (especially when tired) Not throat pain. I have had a little bit of behind the left ear pain at times. I've had an achy headache alot lately too. I'm not a doctor but very interested in health. I am a medical transcriptionist. I was given the biker name Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Anyway...my husband was diagnosed with Bells Palsy about a month ago. It is suspected that Bells Palsy is triggered by the HSV-I (herpes simplex virus) which almost all of us have dormant in our bodies. Stress can trigger it to activate and then if your immune system is compromised, Bells Palsy can occur, especially in diabetes (of which my husband is) My neck pain began soon after his Bells. I am thinking there may be a connection but not sure. I am also thinking that I should get my thyroid checked since I exercise like a maniac and still am gaining weight, but of course I am in perimenopause age now. Just some thoughts.
So I believe the best explanation I've found is that "People with thyroid diseases such as hyperthyroidism or goiter are likely to suffer from front neck pain."
"Medically speaking, front neck pain may not be a serious condition as it seems but its symptoms are many a times, unbearable. This is because, while consuming food or drinking water, the patient may experience radiating pain from the neck. Front neck pain can be an indication of underlying condition such as goiter."
Thyroid Problems
"Our neck contains a thyroid gland that produces hormones that help to maintain normal metabolic rate. This thyroid gland is basically situated in the front portion of the neck and so if anything wrong with the functioning of the thyroid gland, it is bound to manifest in the form of front neck pain."
I'm thinking that if your Thyroid, Hormones and/or Endocrine system in general are acting up, probably those are the days you're gonna have more pain. Things that may cause these systems to act up could be foods you've eaten (I'd say especially of they have hormones - which most meat does), if your Iodine levels are low, or maybe even just stress. Note: this is just my assessment from analyzing the research. I'm not a doctor.
Here's the website where I got all of the above, quoted info.
I also read that this thyroid and lymph node swelling can cause a swelling which can manifest in the form of ear and jaw pain.
Hope this helps!

Also, standard blood tests do not always reveal hormonal or metabolic inefficiencies or imbalances. My thyroid was running at hypo due to other hormonal imbalances I was having. Both my family doctor and my obgyn did blood tests and said my thyroid was fine. Then I found a doctor who is a specialist at helping people regain "Well-being and balance", an MD who now practices alternative med. Anywho, he did some other, more intricate blood work on me, and found I had certain deficiencies that were making my T cells imbalanced. SO though the standard blood tests didn't show it, my body was in fact acting hypothyroid.
The endocrine system is a hairy and finicky beast! :-D

Like the rest of you, I have the same pain, not in the throat but in the front of my neck on the left side next to the adam's apple area. It does feel like it spreads further left sometimes so that the pain is steady from the adam's apple area over to the space under my left ear. It is worse when I swallow or move my head to the side a certain way. Sometimes it is completely gone. I am a violinist and I thought for a while that this was caused by the violin under my chin, but even when I don't play for a few days, it is there and even worse sometimes. Is there a possibility that my thyroid gland is whacky? Have any of you asked the doctor about thyroid problems or had a diagnosis about a disfunctional thyroid. I do take thyroid pills. I can't really go to the doctor about this now because I have no medical insurance so please let me know what you all think. Thanks
