I find this weird. I just had the flu about a week ago and I though that this pain on the right side of my neck was just the after math, but now I'm starting to wonder. Some of you say you've had it for years and I can't even imagine..........<<< having this pain for years! When I wake up it's usually not there, but it slowly comes back everyday. Though when I look up is when the pain is worse, it seems better when I look down. I did notice I have some pain in the right ear as well and some in the right side of my jaw. I don't seem to have a cough though.

So many of you say it could be different things but have the same exact symptoms. That worries me a little. I sometimes hear how doctors take a long time to find the right thing that's wrong. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this. At least now I know I should see my doctor as soon as I can.

Hope this pain goes away for all of us!

I have an answer! It could be a lymphnode that means you need to eat:

Chicken Noodle Soup

Drink lots of fluids

And see a healthcare professional for a prescription of a type of Penicillin.
Also, take over the counter medication for the pain while drinking fluids, the soup and taking penicillin to beat down the condition. You should be cured within 2-4 days. Axos, over and out.

I have a clue.  I have had this 3 times on my left side and thought it was related to my root canal in left jaw.  I thought I cured it each time by alkalizing my body and thus reducing inflammation and knocking out infection.  It didn't last very long and I was relieved to get rid of it.

The recently, I had it return in the same location and I started the same self treatment and the most bizarre thing happened, it switched to my right side the next day!  This has some good news, mainly that the source is not my teeth and jaw, that is a destination.  The bad news, however, is that I am doing and have done everything I know to reduce inflammation and boost my immune system and nothing is working.

It has been about 2 weeks now on my right side and it's getting to me.  So I just found this forum.  Has anyone have any news or updates?

The one thing I used to do that I am going to start right now is yoga.  I always feel back cracking adjustments when I used to do it so I will try right now since I'm thinking it may be related to nerves.

I share many if not all the symptoms expressed here. The best way to describe my discomfort or pain is the sensation of someone taking their index finger and pressing it against the side of my throat and it does hurt when I swallow. I do have GERD, but not sure if what I'm feeling is attributed to that or some other disorder. And these throat symtoms I have had for many years. There is no swelling or lumps present. It isn't bad enough to seek medical advise or help, but it is annoying.

The same thing is going on with me and I have no idea what it is. I thought it might be TMJ but it feels too close to my throat.

I've had this constant general pain like a headache in the back of my neck, and then recently in the last week, the pain has moved to the left side of my neck over my throat, and right now, I'm getting a really bad headache on the left side of my head because of it. It all started 2 months ago. I thought it was because I slept on the floor 2 months ago, but this feels like a muscle or node problem, like I might have an infection? I plan on making a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I hope I can survive by tomorrow. I feel like it's gotten severely worse the last 2-3 days....

the past two weeks i've been having the same symptoms...as you.. doesnt feel like a sore throat..feels deep back there but no lump...i've researched a little but the only diagnosis that i saw that looked similar was cancer of the larynx..early signs and symptoms include persistent hoarseness or sore throat and sharp ear pain...late signs are blood in sputum and difficulty swallowing

It is usually either a bacterial or viral infection that causes pain on one side of your neck/throat.  I have it right now, as I often do when the weather changes, along with aches and chills.  My head aches from my jaw to my ear.  I'm going to sleep and drink lots of fluids, and if it continues visit the doctor for antibiotics or anti-viral medications.  I don't usually have to go all the way to the doctor, just take it easy and give my body the chance to fight whatever it's getting.  If you want more information, Google "Sore Throat One Side."

I am just getting on to see if I can find any info on that kind of pain. It is not like a sore throat. It's more achy, as if I were bruised in the back of my throat. It hurts when I swallow, but it's more like the entire left side of my oropharyngeal cavity has some kind of muscle soreness. It extends into my neck.
Have not found any lumps, and there doesn't appear to be any redness in the back of my throat. Will keep looking.

My soreness is in the right side of my throat, but mine actually does feel like a sore throat the pain is centralized in one spot and every so often I will feel I in my right ear when I swallow. I've had these symptoms for 2 weeks now.
