I've had the blue streaks in my nasal discharge for years... I call it "smurf" blue or like the pretty blue in the crayola box - cerulean. I have seen an ENT once, definitely had issues in my sinus cavity but didn't follow up with him. I also wonder if it's a fungus, but everything I read points to pseudomonas - which sounds scary.

Blue and yellow make green.
Blue is a primary color. It has only one pigment molecule. It cannot be achieved by mixing two colors.

You must have gotten your colorwheel mixed up. Green is a secondary color composed of an equal yellow to blue molecular ratio.

I just came upon this site today because I was wondering if anybody was seeing blue while they were blowing their nose or coughing up mucous. I too see steaks of light blue and dark blue while I am blowing my nose. Some of it looks like dark blue fibre. I have had two days of fever and have definitely been fighting off a very nasty virus of some sort. I am 55 years of age and this is the first time that I have witnessed anything like this. A new virus strain? Who knows?

In certain conditions, Pseudomonas aeruginosa can secrete a variety of pigments, including pyocyanin (blue-green), pyoverdine (yellow-green and fluorescent), and pyorubin (red-brown). These can be used to identify the organism. Pyocyanin is one of the many toxins produced and secreted by the Gram negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Salicylic acid can inhibit pyocyanin production. Salicylic acid as a medication, is used most commonly to help remove the outer layer of the skin. It is used to treat warts, psoriasis, dandruff, acne, ringworm, and ichthyosis. Salicylic acid is a key ingredient in many skin-care products for the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis, calluses, corns, and keratosis. Salicylic acid was one of the original starting materials for making acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) in 1897.

The active ingredient in some stomach relief aids is Bismuth subsalicylate, a salt of bismuth and salicylic acid. It can be found in Pepto-Bismol, and is the main ingredient of Kaopectate. Salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory action and can also act as an antacid and mild antibiotic.

Yes to the smell thing! I get a foul smell. Less ammonia and more smelly cheese smell or wet dog. This is before any congestion.
