mine the same, the left eye, dose sound weird that it is the left eye only?
I, too, have a problem with swollen eyelids. The ONLY thing that brings them down within an hour is tea-bags soaked in hot water. I have to repeat doing this many times -- maybe 5 - 8 times.
Only a caffeinated tea, such as green or black tea, will work. It's the caffeine that brings the swelling down.
Don't bother with cold compresses, like you would with a swollen ankle. I tried that first. Literally, sat with a bag of frozen peas on my eyes for hours without seeing a difference. The only thing that worked for me was hot tea bags.

I'm a left eyelid sweller, too. Is there a medical reason for only left eyes swelling? No pain, eyeball is not effected, swelling has occurred off an on for several months now. At first I thought maybe it was just my contact or allergies, but as time has went on and it is reoccurring, it is starting to worry me.

My left eyelid is swollen as well. I have not went to the doctor when this happened in the past but I'm going today or tomorrow if it persists. Eyeball not affected, just left eyelid is very swollen for no obvious reason. Arggg, i hate going to the doctor. I'm going to try teabags as others have mentioned.
Yes.. me too.. again, swollen left eyelid. BUT, I had a small cyst for a while before. I think now it's gone, but i'm not sure. Maybe that's one of the reasons that caused the swollen eyelid?
Both my upper eyelids swell and go red. No problem with the eyeballs.
I also was getting severe dandruff and when my eyelids first puffed up I had developed a rash on my forehead as well.
Went to the Doctors and was diagnosed with Sebhorraeic (sic) dermatis which I understand is a non contagious and naturally occurring form, something to do with the balance of yeast in the skin.
It is unusual for that to affect the eyelids, more common on the scalp and other areas, but it can affect your eyelids in some cases.
I was prescribed Ketopine shampoo which sorted out the flaky scalp and rash on scalp within a couple of washes - first time I haven't had dandruff for years! Brilliant stuff. You can also buy this over the counter in the UK to treat dandruff. And I was prescribed some clotrimazole/hydrocortisone cream to apply on my forehead and eyes. This cream keeps the forehead and puffy red eyelids under control.
I was just thinking that some people that are having puffy eyelids might have the same condition as me especially if you're also getting rashes, pimples, red blotches on face and head, or with a flaky scalp.

I get this too sometimes, and for me it is definitely allergies. I get it in the morning after sleeping, because I am allergic to the dust that collects on my pillow case (my actual pillow is encased, as are my mattress and blankets).
That said, though it starts out as an allergic reaction, it can easily become an infection if you're not careful. When my eyelids swell a lot, the skin can crack, and that lets in an infection that makes it worse. So keep washing your skin with something that doesn't sting. Ivory soap works good for this, since it is not perfumed or anything.
Also, don't touch it unless you wash your hands. In fact, wash your hands a lot more than you normally would, because you're probably touching it without realising.
If you are looking for some cream to put on it while it's healing, try Barrier, Ozonol, or Glaxal Base. Those are very hypo-allergenic. Also I've had luck with Aveeno moisturisers (the green one NOT the blue medicated one). But generally once my skin is irritated I can't use any products for a while.
If the reaction is REALLY BAD right now and you need to get the inflammation down, try chamomile teabags. Yes, I know that sounds lame. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties (that's why it makes people sleepy). Put two chamomile teabags in hot water, and then put them over your eyes. It'll take the swelling down pretty fast, but it won't heal the root problem.

i hav this problem but only on my right eye an its hurtin loads what can i do ?? :-( :-( :$
Hi, I have this condition also in my right eye. It has been there for months and I hate it! I'm really worried.
I get this from chemicals in the air. I am sensitive to almost all cleaning products, roundup, ?fabreze", etc. Some of them cause my eyelids to swell up quite a bit. I live in a condo with neighbors, and maintenance folks that think chemicals are necessary. Closing the doors & windows doesn't help much.
I've found that the little roller ball by Garnier helps a bit. I think it's the combination of the massaging & the caffeine, maybe also the coolness. I've tried caffeinated tea bags. If I massage the swelling out, it seems to help. Nothing really cures it. Some days I can hardly see. I'm already self conscience about my eyes so this sure doesn't help. Besides it makes you feel sleepy. Sometimes cold seems to help. Sometimes heat seems to help by increasing the circulation.
Yesterday they used outdoor windex in the pressure washer to clean my steps. My eyes are almost swollen closed & my throat is raspy & raw. They are going to finish today & than do the rest of the complex. Since it doesn't bother them, I can't get them to believe that it bothers me or at least I can not get them to not use it. Since they are spraying it, it will be on the steps, grass, etc. and come back every time the sprinklers come on. Nothing I can do about it.

This is in addition to what I posted above as 'Guest' - (I get this from chemicals....).
Washing my face seems to help. I've tried the nasal rinse (neti pot). It did not seem to help. Sometimes rinsing my ears with hydrogen peroxide seems to help a bit, but I only do that once a week at most as it kills too much. Rinsing my eyes out or using eye drops doesn't seem to help. My eyes are not usually irrated except by the sweling.
