I've had swollen upper eyelids for about about two years now.. my family doctor says not to worry, and "it happens", but he's never seen me when my eyes are at their worst. now, because the skin has been stretched from the puffiness so often, they're kind of droopy and you can't even see my eyelid! I know this comes with age but I'm only 20 and I used to be able to wear mascara without it getting all over my eyelids! on top of that the weight makes it really hard to keep my eyes open all the way so I'm constantly keeping my eyebrows raised a little so they don't seem as bad. All I know is that the puffiness comes from the crease between my brow bone and eyeball. some times it just fills up with fluid, like after I cry, after a shower, or when I'm sick. some times it just shows up for no reason, usually mornings. It'll take me hours to bring down the swelling, but they'll never go back to normal. my eyes are small enough and I'm always so self concious. I can't even sleep over at other peoples places for fear that they'll see me like that. who do I have to see? who will take this seriously and help me fix it!?
3 days ago i had exactly the same thing and it was extremly painful! i went to the doctors and they said it would pass in a week i also have to have eye drops 4 times a day however my vesion and actual eye is fine :)
I have noticed my eyes or sometimes one eye, will do this when I have too much salt intake. It makes you retain fluid. If you don't get enough sleep it will do this as well. That is why when the one person mentioned taking a water pill it helps her. That is because you are getting rid of the over load of fluids. That is why your bloodpressure goes up when you eat salty foods. The salt makes you retain water in your body. and thus causes swelling. Hope this helps. Nancy
I,m sorry, but my upper eye lid has been swollen 4 months, its like a small lump in the corner of my eye , not hurt or anything just like a lump over my eye eye. any one help or offer advice please.
I’ve had swollen upper right eyelid. The eyeball itself isn’t red or inflamed but the eyelid is really swollen. I sleep at night I woke up in the morning with this problem. not itchy and no pain. it started in May 2012 and every like 2 months or months i get the same problem, this year it happened 3 times (january, March and now in June) it lasts for 3 days and then my eye is normal and only the right eye no both and no one seems to know the problem, they say i'm allergic to something and I don't know what it is??? Plz I need to get rid of this problem I want a solution once for all.. Thank you

We were at the beach and on day 5 daymy 15 year old complained that something felt like it was in his eye. The feeling only lasted about 30 seconds. The next day, he woke up with a swollen eye, some minor eye redness, and no pain. He iced it down and it looked much better. My the next morning it was swollen to twice the size. Took him to the doctor, and this is now day three of antibiotic eye drops. Swollen subsided, but he is complaining he doesn't feel well at all...eye hurts, headache, joint (elbow pain),tired, throat that seems to be swollen. Second day he's spent in bed. Any ideas?
i have same issues.......let me know wether you got the medicines.
I had immune therepy shots and ever since I had an allergic reaction I have been waking up with swollen eyes and they get worse with light. I have no idea, it has been 2 weeks. I have been to the doctor and believe it may be allergic reaction but they don't have a clue. Seems to be a guessing game. I take benadryl, singular, zertec. The benadrly does help some but this morning I woke up and it seems to be a little matted.
i have my left eyelid swollen and this is the second day of this torture. my left eye has become small as compared to my right eye and the eye ball itself is alright but my eyelid is is swollen specially around the starting of the eye and the pain is traveling to a nerve at the end of my eyebrow(it even hurts when i touch that nerve lightly). does hypo tension (low blood pressure) has anything to do with it ?? because i suffer from the symptoms of hypo tension. PLEASE HELP ME !!!
jshannon- going through the same thing right now. Did the antibiotics work? I have a Dr's appt in 5 days. I would love to know how you remedied the topical steroid withdrawal. My eyes are so swollen. I've tried everything. Nothing works. Hope you healed fast and its over.
