I am 19 years old and I am also having sharp, shooting pains in my right breast when I get up, cough, or sneeze or sometimes when I bend down... I noticed a bump on the outside which I just assumed was some sort of spider or bug bite... I noticed someone else said that they were experiencing back pain right behind the breast... I am too.

I am always over-worried about things like this but I am wondering if anyone had this checked and could tell me what a doctor has said because i do not have insurance.

I am 22 years old, and i too have discovered the same pains everyone is discribing. In my right breast i have a sharp pin feeling every once in a while. I find the pain to be in the middle of my right breast. Its not a muscle pain or pull i know what that feels like being very athletic. Its been like this now for almost a month, i honestly just thought it was growing pains or something. Anyways just recently went to my doctors, who has now sent me to get ultra sounds on both breast. I am nevous as hell but.......ya

My advice to all is think positive and see you doctor asap. The faster the better.

I just turned 18 and for the past month or two I have had the sharp, shooting pains, primarily in my right breast, occasionally in my left. Normally I just get one or two quick pains but this morning I was awaken by a series of these pains that didn't subside until about 4 minutes. I did a little research and found that something similar may happen due to pregnancy or menstrual cycle or menopause.. but I know I am NOT pregnant, and I am additionally on birth control and do not have my period and I can't be going through menopause this early, right? ha. I can't feel any lumps or anything but I called my doctor and she had a cancellation so I am going in today to get checked out. I'll let y'all know how it goes! (hopefully well)

I thought I was the only one!
I am 53 years old and have had these same pains in my right breast only, on and off for about 10 years. I have had numerous physical examinations, mammograms, and ultrasounds which have all been normal. The pain is so sharp that it takes my breath away. Each pain lasts only several seconds, but it is excruciating. It is very intermittent. I have found that reducing or eliminating caffeine is somewhat helpful. My doctor suggested taking a vitamin E supplement.

Hi, I too sometimes has sore or a shark pain in my breast. My doctor asked me if I drank large amounts of caffine. I do, she said this could be a contributor. I think my diet has a lot to do with it as well. I eat too much protein!!

I've been having sharp shooting pains in my right breast. I had them for a couple of months about 6 months ago, and most recently after I quit the pill. I work in MRI and have good friends in the mammography dept. They said it is most likely a hormonal thing, and breast pain is very rarely associated with cancer. They still thought it was a good idea to mention it to my ob/gyn.

I had shooting breast pain last year for months. It was sharp and sudden and gone half a dozen times a day. It stopped me in my tracks.
July 19th, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. August 6th, I had a double mastectomy. September 20-December 26th, I had chemotherapy.

ok, wow. i'm glad i'm not the only one who has this going on, so i'm gonna go ahead and add myself to the list.
i'm 19 years old, only have caffeine once a day when i drink my tea. and yet, for the past few weeks, i'll get this sharp pain in my left breast. it's like i'm being stabbed from inside at a diagonal through my breast. it only lasts for about 5 or 10 seconds but stops me in my tracks. there's not a specific time it happens, either. sometimes i'll be up walking around, other times i'll be laying down or reaching for my water across the table. then all of a sudden it hurts... mine almost feel like i'm getting an electric shock.
my doctor did the usual check for any lumps and things, no results. caffeine's not a big problem for me or anything. i think i'll try the vitamin E supplements and increased water intake. any other advice would be great. i keep hoping it's nothing, just a random pain that i live with.
thanks to everyone who have helpful posts!

I'm 40 and just started having shooting pains in both breasts, but mostly my left one. It feels like a needle is shooting from my armpit to my nipple. I just had a breast exam in October and a Mammogram on Dec. 5. Everything came out fine. I have been doing some heavy lifting at work in the past few weeks. So, mabey this is something to do with the chest muscles. Are there any healthcare workers out there? Do, you think muscles that are over used from heavy lifting could cause this pain?

The first thing is to see a GP and get an ultrasound to rule out anything major (which you've done).
Next is to to chart your menstrual cycle. The rise and fall of hormones can have a range of effects on the body especially the breasts sice they are very sensitive to estrogens.
For example sometimes due to surging hormones the ducts in the breats may become swollen or unable to drain fluid properly to the nearby lymph node (in armpit). There are a number of at home remedies to try. ie: soap massage...pressure + lift...
Watch and see if there is a link to the pain and your cycle ie: accompanied with other PMS..stops when menstruation begins..starts a couple weeks before menstruation..
Your diet can also be linked to the severity of PMS. So try to chart what you eat before and during menstruation or before the onset of the pain.
Hope this helps!

I have a needle feeling pain going from the inside towards the nipple and I have recently had a mammogram, ultra sound diagnostics done. They say everything looks fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it but if you are really concerned about it get a mammogram done you'll just stress your self out if you don't know.
