I have had vaginal discharge since I was 17. I am now 27. I have been do several doctors over the years and have had the common yeast infection cured from time to time, but overall my discharge has never gone away. I gave up after a bit and it was getting do bad that I just had to go back to the doctors. My tests for stds and vaginal infections came back negative. But, they did perscribe difulcan over a 5 week period one time (1x week) and it did slow down just a bit. They also perscribed this before in smaller doses. But, the vaginal discharge was and is so bad that it is embarrassing to have sex. I have white discharge, sometimes a little clumpy, sometimes smooth. No smell. But, the discharge stains all my underwear to the point where it covers the entire lining in dry creamy/yellow clumps. Alot drips out when I go to the bathroom too. I had a steady sexual partner for 3 yrs and it always got all over his penis, the bed and myself. It stuck to everything in large amounts. It was just disguisting. It drips down my leg a bit when Im not wearing underwear. I am healthy. I work out regulary. I dont wear the most unbreathable clothes and have switched to cotton underwear. I also have to wear pantyliners everyday and change them a few times because they get overly saturated. Lately, my discharge has little extra clumps in it. Never seen that before. Its almost like tiny bits of white tissue paper are in the white discharge. Again, all the doctors have said this I am normal. I took a cheap ($5) one month supply of lactobilus and then switched over to this brand called "refresh," probiotics which has the same thing I guess but is $30. This brand says that it is important to have the live bacteria, versus other brands where it is not live. I also have been using "rephresh" suppositories that are supposed to help your vagina stay at a normal PH level, at the recommendation of my gyno. I have been using those things for months. I have seen no improvement in my discharge and its actually getting worse. The most embarrassing thing is the sex and oral sex. It just isnt sexy to be pleased if that stuff is coming out of me at that pace.

I have the same problem. I went to the doctor lately and had 2+ yeast so i was prescribed with yeast infection medication. It did not help and i knew it wasnt a yeast infection to begin with. Tested for all std's all negative. i AM NOT on bc so it is not birth control pills causing it. i wish someone could post an answer of some sort instead of us all talking about a problem we have in common.

I had that problem in the past, was tested for everything as well with negative results. My doctor explained to me that When a man has more than 1 female he is having unprotected sex with, essentially going back and forth between both females without using
protection. He is basically transmitting vaginal cells, and vaginal bacteria ( it is natural for the vagina to have bacteria), the new bacteria disrupts the natural flora of the woman's vagina causing these symptoms. This isnt an STD, thats why all of those tests are always negative. Its as simple as having strange vaginal cells and bacteria in your vagina and your body trying to process it.
The doctor also said a man can carry this bacteria on his penis for years, and it won't affect him. Even if he is in a monogamous relationship he can keep passing the bacteria to his partner. This is why some women get repeated yeast infections, and / or vaginosis everytime she has sex with the man, and when they discontinue sex the woman's vagina seems to go back to normal.
The solution is to just have both the man and the woman take antibiotics to kill any bacteria. This is what I did and the problem never returned. Every woman has her very own unique ph balance in her vagina, any disruption to that will cause a reaction.

So, I have read through all of the responses...and I'm some what comforted by the fact that I am not the only one!! I have only had my recent symptoms for the last month or two. However, a few years ago I had an unpleasant discharge and odor, that seemed to NEVER go away...until I went to my doctor, he tested me for everything, and came to the conclution that one of my sexual partners had given me an inffection. I was given antibiotics and it went away within 3 or 4 days. Now that I'm in a serious relationship...having no problems at first, its hard for me to understand what is going on down there. He and I have both been tested recently, and this problem seemed to have shown up over night!! Its a bitter tasting, white discharge that has a slight sour smell...nothing noticable, but it IS to me!! I'm hoping these symptoms are normal, because if it continues while my boyfriend comes back home, he is going to be curious as to why its still there! He loves performing oral to me, and I haven't enjoyed it since I have noticed my problem. He loves me and he does it, but not as intensly as he use to...because I KNOW he can tell a change! Its so frustrating, I'm praying it just goes away....because I can't afford to fork out medication or a doctor visit right now....!

Hi i've got all the exact same symptoms, dry, white, thick vaginal fluid, dryness, painful sex (due to dryness i assume), sometimes brownish fluid, sometimes smells a little too. Been tested for every STD under the sun, even HIV. All negative. I tried the pessery for thrush which just seemed to make it worse. I noticed this white stuff exactly 1 day after i had taken the morning after pill Levonelle. And i've now had the same symptoms for over 4 years. I feel horrible all the time, i don't want sex. My boyfriend says he doesn't care and that i'm just over reacting but it's horrible, i just don't feel feminine.

It's quite weird how we're all having the same symptoms and doctors just seem to be shrugging it off. This does make me think that maybe it is just normal but then mabe it isn't, why can't doctors just think outside the box and look for something that isn't "normal".
At a previous doctors surgery, my doctor was a specialist in female sexual health and i mentioned the symptoms to her and she suggested that if it gets worse then they would put a camera inside my vagina and have a good look. Unfortunately I've moved towns so unable to see that doctor now! It's so frustrating, no other doctor wants to try anything. Doctors just make me feel stupid when i ask about it.
I'm going to a local sexual health clinic over the next couple of days and i am going to make sure they look for anything else that isn't bloody thrush or just "normal" vaginal fluid. I hope they can find out what it is. I will let you know as soon as i can.

I have the exact same thing going on. I'm having a thick, white, creamy discharge. It's not a yeast infection--it doesn't burn or itch. The only time it's really noticeable is during sex. After done with sex, the thick discharge covers my partner's penis. While having sex, despite the abundance of this thick substance, I seem to get dry. In addition to that, like others have said in this forum, it has a bitter taste to it. My boyfriend complains about going down on me because of the taste. I've only had this problem for a few months. I'm on ortho-tricyclin and started taking it about the same time this problem started occurring. I also take multi-vitamins and fish oils. I don't know if any of those would have an effect on me or not, but has anyone found any answers? Should I switch birth controls?

Wow. I finally found people with the same problem. It does not stink, hurt, itch or burn...
I also tried the garlic trick and it seemed to work for a few weeks. I used the end of a clean pantyhose and chopped up only one clove and slept overnight with it inserted. Too much will definitely burn, be careful. This has to be a microbial imbalance of some kind. I too began these symptoms after a dose of antibiotics. It is worse during ovulation, and seems to clear up during times of the month. Before sex, I use 7 wonders oil.
PLEASE RESPOND WITH ANSWERS TO THIS PROBLEM! IT IS EMBARRASSING AND MAKES SEX LESS ENJOYABLE!!

Hi this might help. a clinician told me that your body does this to keep the sperm from entering, when u are on b/c. if not, it usually should be thickest before period, and thinnet after the period.... "to hold the egg in" since apparently our bodies wanna be pregnant monthly?

Wow, I'm not the only one....

Doctors: I had ONE doctor who actually made a difference & here is what she told me....

The Problem: I used to have recurrent BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) infections that would go away but come right back. BV is an evil tricky infection that I got after every encounter with my then boyfriend. So for about a a year straight I was getting these disgusting infections, but before & after I would always have a thick white discharge, so thick it didn't even come out. Except of course during sex & it had a very bitter taste, bitter is the PERFECT description or the taste. I finally came in with tears streaming down my face, blabing to my doc that this is ruining my life & there is no cure.

Doctor Said: There is a chance bacteria has made its way up into the stomach region (I don't remember where specifically she said), so it needed to be treated from that angle as well. Despite that, she said my Cervix was swollen (keep in mind I was & am free & clear of all STD's). She gave me a perscription for the treatment of Cervicitis (swollen cervix). I'm sorry I'm blanking on the name, but there are many RX's for Cervicitis. That seemed to really improve things for about 3 weeks, then I had sex & everything came back again.

The Problem Now: Thick white discharge that wont fall, comes out during intercourse, bitter in taste. My assumption is that my BV is never fully going away or I had become immune to everything they had treated me with. I switched to natural remedies (even though I'm the first skeptic of all of them). And an additional FYI, there are different types of Yeasts that can grow in the vagina. Make sure your doctor is treating the RIGHT KIND OF YEAST! I was being given the typical treatments (creams & pills), until my doctor told me I had an uncommon strain of yeast that none of those medicines would help. be sure to ask your OBGYN what type of yeast is infecting you.

Natural Remedies: Your vagina produces a small amount of peroxide natually (yes, peroxide), and when you have an infection (especially any type of bacterial infection) you are lacking peroxide. I know this ounds horrid, but honest to God it has worked for me for 2 months straight now...Soak a tampon in peroxide (yes, the kind you have in your medicine cabinent). It will be hard to get the tampon in, relax, use your finger to guide it in, and get it in as high as possible. Let it sit in for about 15 minutes, and yes, its going to burn! Its killing bad things, so its ok if it burns. A small amount on a tampon will do you no harm. I did this every night & especially AFTER sex!! Its not a douche, so its better for you. yet it still cleans your out. I take something called Fem-dophilis every morning on an empty stomach. Then I can Acidophilis 4 times a day as well (both from health food stores in the refrigerated isle). Also, I wash with a feminine gel soap made by Yeast Guard (sold at any drug store) which contains Tea Tree Oil. I know this all seems excessive, but I promise it paid off for me for so long. Over the past 2 weeks, I had streap throat, haven't slept much at all (2 jobs & in college), super stressed, eating terribly, and drinking more than I normally do (alcohol & caffiene), also forgetting to do my regimine everyday.

I hope this works for someone out there, because I have spent many a night crying myself to sleep over my embarrassing issue.

I'm 21 and ive been with my fiance for over two years, but I started to notice a while back that a white, creamy discharge coming out of me when i go to the bathroom, when i have sex and well pretty much most of the time. My almost mother in law is a nurse and she believes it to be the beginning of an yeast infection, but unlike a yeast infection it doesnt itch or burn. Does anybody have any ideas about that? It gets embarrassing when we have sex because it gets all over me and him, he doesnt seem bothered by it but it does me.

This is generally due to bacteria. Whether it's bacterial vaginosis or like me I'm basically having problems with my husbands semen. I have recurrent Strep B. It's been hell trying to get pregnant because I don't have normal discharge anymore and it continues to recycle because I'm trying to conceive so his sperm is well, necessary! ha ha

The things I've done naturally are to use a douche of peroxide here and there and I use a douche of colloidal silver(1 Tbsp). It's amazing what happens when the bad flora are killed. You feel like new again. My dr.'s prescribed antibiotics and it only caused yeast infections, it's natural for some women to have this problem.
