I am so glad that I found this! I had the Mirena inserted in 2008 and removed in 2011 due to the string wrapping its self around its self and was in Labor for months with it till it was removed but when I went to my Dr to have it removed I told her about the itching issues I was having and she told it me that my sweat ducts were plugged down there and that is what caused that also told her that I had this greyish discharge with it and she said that I might possibly have endometrisois so she did all the test no std's no aids not even a yeast infection and to this day it has been over a year since I had it removed and still itching and blackish discharge and only about 4 cycles can anyone help I am going crazy been dealing with this for over 4 years now and I am so tired of it!!!
Stacy, I also suffer from cuts although I did used to get these before I had my mirena fitted a couple of years ago. I've never got to the bottom of what causes them, if you ever find out, i'd love to know. A homeopath I used to see years ago suggested it may be to do with what is going on in your personal life, I was about to go through a divorce at the time that they started so there could be some truth in it. I only get it occasionally now and it could be when I'm going through a bad time with my current bf, though I can't be sure.
As for thrush, I am desperate, cannot get rid of it, seem to have become immune to any creams, pills or suppositories, doctors don't seem to have anything past those to prescribe. What does one do? Using feminine cleansing products help somewhat but really i need to be cleaning myself about 3 - 4 times per day to keep on top of it.
Could it be the marena? It is very possible but everything else about it is so worth it that I am reluctant to have it removed, I wouldn't know what other kind of contraception I would use and my bf certainly won't have a vasectomy, being a 'man' and all that!!!
Are there any doctors out there with an answer to our persistant thrush???
Honestly, all these posts have helped. I am usually healthy. I've only ever been with my husband. And up until this past summer I've never even had a yeast infection. I am not actually sure it was, but it was the only thing I could think of that would cause a horrible itch.
I've had the Mirena for over a year, but the itch started about 4 months ago. Holy mother of god, I've tried everything. It's only been a year on the Mirena so I don't know if I really want it out. I have because of heavy bleeding and since its insertion I haven't had an issue. I had a horrible time on depo and actually got pregnant while on birth control. But I am about to go insane with this itching.
Have any of the ladies that posted previously had the Mirena removed? Did it help?
OMG- - I have the exact same symptoms and I know it's from the IUD. Never had any STDs, and it only occurs during period or during the heavy discharge that never happened before the IUD. I actually went to my GYN and he said no problems. It seems we are the exceptions to this IUD! I got mine four months ago, too, and am having severe burning and itching right now (and throbbing in the area). I am going for another check up next month so I will let you know what the doctor says, but it's likely I will have the damn thing removed as I am getting WAY worse periods and SEVERE cramping than I ever did prior to the IUD.
I have have the EXACT same symptoms to a T. Going pee is terribly painful after sex because of the burning and unfortunately I can't afford to go to an OB.
I had the mirena removed, but inserted the paraguard after and i am still experiencing the same symsptoms, so i am thinking its the iud that do that to my body
my simptoms, are vaginal itchiching, burning, and even tiny little cuts around my vagina, and it only happens about a week before my perios is about to start. It all started when i got the mirena inserted many years ago. I ended up getting the mirena taken out bcus i thought it was the cause of my acne. 3 months after my doctor suggested to try the paraguard since it doesnt have any hormones it shouldnt do anything to cause acne. So now ive had it for 1 year, and my acne has not gotten better it actually has gotten worst. I am not sure if it has to do with the paraguard. But i am almost positive that the itchiching, burning and cuts. do have to do with the iud. I just wanted to let you ladies know that its not just the mirena that does that. the paraguard does too!!!. i finally made up my mind and im getting it taken out, i am bummed. there is nothing out that doesnt give u some time of side effect!! I will just have use condoms all my life, since i dont think i would like to go back to hormonal birth control!! i dont trust does hormones either! i dont want to end up with cancer!!
I too am experience king the same yellowish discharge. I thought maybe it was my bladder. Can someone please give us clarity on the issue.
I have had the Mirena for 2 years and also had these issues. Like yours mine also often came after having sex. I was treated for yeast infections more times than I can count and bacterial vaginosis a few times. However one of my doctors finally put me on a topical steroid treatment for 'eczema' and it works! So for those of you who do have the mirena I recommend trying this.
