I have had the same problem for years, I very rarely have runny noses due to an injury I had suffered while playing sports (very bad bloody nose) so it wont drain out my nose. I have never had any type of allergies so I ruled that one out. But I do believe that it is stress induced, from my last job to my current one I have not threw up, but still suffer from gag reflexes. I have used Saline sprays (before bed and when I wake up) which seem to help me some but soon after my body seems to just produce more phlegm/mucus. I don’t think I would be able to handle them but you could try a neti pot, be sure to have someone show you how to use them.
I have changed the way I eat, cut down on the fried foods, only drink a glass of milk a day cut down on my cheese intake ( this step was very hard for me I love cheese almost as much as I love my wife). I started eating more green leafy foods, for I never ate salads but trying them and its helping I started drinking more water or clear liquids, such as tea, my body weight cut in half in oz (i.e.: 200 pounds equals 100oz/day), that helps the phlegm be less thick and thus easier to get out or swallow. I have also slowed my eating and started eating less; it is because the phlegm built up after eating for me. I also stay away from soda; the corn syrup triggers a buildup of mucus especially after eating, I am not saying I stopped drinking soda all together but do limit my intake of it.
I have noticed that spicy foods help they keep the nose running and it clears out the sinus cavity, for me at least.
I have not gotten this very annoying condition to go away, but all the steps taken have helped me a great deal.

I found this post while I was still in highschool (2007) while trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with me. I am still dealing with this every single morning and can't take it anymore!!! Has anybody figured out what is going on here are we the next super zombie outbreak? :-p for real though this sucks I'm so sick of puking every single morning so please if anybody has any good solid facts as to what may be going on here, they would be greatly appreciated!
swallow the vomit:)
Myself and mywife doesn't have this problem but my kid who is 2 year old have this problem. What I noticed is that when ever we are in warm places(like texas) he doesn't vomit but it repeats when we back home which is a colder place(Minneapolis). Does all you of you live in cold place?
Hope this helps. My guess is an allergy to dust. This allergy is becoming more common then you all think.
my brother is sick every morning and he has been doing it for about a year or more im getting worried now what should do
I literally suffered the same affliction from age 20 til age 40! I would vomit about a cup full daily!!! I'm 45 now and here are things that have helped me...One doctor said "H pylori bacteria" but his medicine made me have horrible double over cramps so I quit taking the meds. Now I take acidophillus (good bacteria) capsules daily. I also noticed that installing a water pick on my shower head and using it every day has helped. (rids the mouth of H-pylori and other unwanted bacteria) Cutting down on milk has helped. Destressing helps.
I now only vomit phlegm and mucus (about a cup full) about once a month and it is usually the day my "time of the month" starts. I don't know why other than the hormonal level may be affecting sinus mucus levels??? Also, blow your nose real well before bedtime. Allergy meds or antihistimine may work, but I didn't want to take it daily because of possible long term side effects. Good luck.
I'm going to try the Nexium. I thought that I was the only one who had this problem. Granted, I drink too much, but even when I don't, I need to throw up shortly after I get up. It looks like sinus drainage and bile. It seems like when I cough or "snort" a certain way, it hits a nerve, and I have very little warning, but I gotta go puke! I do have GERD and COPD, so I will try the Nexium. If that doesn't work, I'll look back to ya'll for more help. Thanks.
I go through this 5 out of 7 mornings. 1 - 2 cups of snot in my vomit. I moved from NOR CAL to AZ. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Sick and tired of it. I quit drinking milk - no difference. Please help!
I have this problem also and I am a big drinker. So I chalked it up to that. Not the case. I find getting outside and walking around for a few minutes helps after waking. Once it passes you are good. Of course once you puke out the phlegm and bile you are good too. It is very frustrating. Sometimes I just cough a lot but fight it then boom I am good.
I forgot to say I am a flooring contractor so I breath in dust daily but I have been doing it for 20 years and just the last 2 have I had the morning Pukies.
