Glad I found out that I'm not the only person dealing with this. I started vomiting mucus when I was in high school (2004-2007) when I didn't get much sleep at night.  It went away for some time, but has since started up again despite how much sleep I get.

I tend to throw up a ton of clear mucus, but like the rest of you, as soon as it comes out, I feel better.  However, since being sick a month ago, I have been having monthly bouts of chronic vomiting (Dunno if it's related or not).  I also have a lot of pain up under my left breast.

I have been tested with a CT Scan, thyroid blood work, CBC, Celiac, and a HIDA scan and two upper GIs.  Everything thus far has come back normal.  I do have a lot of post-nasal drip as well.  Like chronically dripping down my throat causing me to cough and eventually I'll begin to gag and vomit.

I have been diagnosed with GERD w/Post Nasal Drip and they suspect IBS.

The doctors look at me as if I'm crazy when I tell them I'm still sick after everything has come back normal. My mother also thinks a lot of this is in my head, but I assure you that it's not.  I have never felt this sick in my life.  It has caused me to miss a lot of college classes, which is worrisome. I have had a lot of changes since March 2013, but I would think that it would have started then if it were stress related.

As of now, I'm planning to bring up Splenic Flexure Syndrome to my Gastroenterologist.  The symptoms are closely related to what I've been going through.

All I can do is try and be optimistic that there's something out there that can be done to help me and all of us who are suffering.

I have been going through this for about 9 years now. It started when I was eating pain pills heavily. Now that I am clean it stopped for a while but is back again. My wife hates to hear the sound of me puking and it can be pretty painful at times. Also my 2 young kids are awakin by the death curling sound. I feel fine as long as I'm laying down (flem does start to get thick) but once I stand up its straight the to porcelain god. I puke a lot of flem at the same time snot pouring out of my nose. What can I do to stop this. It's a living hell until I puke it all up then I'm good.

Every morning when I go to take my medication, I start gagging. I take deep breaths, but I usually end up with my head in the toilet, puking up white foamy flem, and slimy mucas. I get sweaty and clammy, and I hate it!

I was wondering if it was a sign of Candida? I flunked the "spit test", that is shown online.
Candida also makes you gain weight, and it is all about inflammation.
(Do not take Diflucan until your doctor confirms you have it.)

I am not sure that is what I have, but this afternoon, I puked again, and I do not feel sick, dizzy or even nauseated.
It was over in 3 minutes, and now I am fine.

This is baffling. I wonder if it has to do with any of the coconut oil pills I started for constipation as I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis, or the COQ-10 or Resveratol? The coconut pills work and they are much cheaper than ducolax. I like taking something that is not a drug for that problem. Fiber and drinking a lot of water is not helping.

I am 24, and I have smoked since I was 17. I moved to Texas about 3 years ago and that's seemingly when this started for me. I throw up 3 out of 7 mornings mucus. It's worse after a night of drinking because I normally smoked way more. But some days it's just not a problem for me and I feel fine. Today was a different story, woke up and started getting ready and then I puked mucus. I know I need to quit smoking and that this is most likely a huge cause but it's harder said than done. My roommate is an EMT and said it sounds like I have emphysema. But I think it's something else, I definitely have a crappy diet, I eat 2 bags of cheetos (the big ones) a week. I am skinny, but I don't work out and live a sedentary life, it's just that I have always had a high metabolism. Maybe I need to just change my diet and stop smoking. But I love eating like a fatty and smoking. What's a girl to do?

MAYBE IT WAS JUST THE AIR IN THE AREA THAT WAS BETTER FOR YOUR LUNGS

I've been experiencing the same symptoms mentioned by others. What I've also noticed is that it's not just most morning, but it's simply anytime I lay down flat, which gives the mucos/phlegm a chance to force its way upwards. It seems like the only way to possibly avoid this is by blowing your nose a few times through the night in order to release the buildup, so have a box of tissues handy... Good luck!

I just started taking coconut oil, about 2-3 tablespoons a day, for about three days now. I am vomiting mucus like crazy!! This is the only change in my diet, so I'm stopping the oil for now and will try to pick it up again much more slowly later. I also gave me a gallbladder attack, and now all the bacteria has moved to my ear and I'm having so much pain, and every time I vomit mucus it feels like there's a knife in my ear. I didn't know coconut oil has to be introduced slowly.

Hi. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. However, I do have a suggestion. This problem is probably caused by a combination of gluten, milk, and stress. If you have gluten intolerance, your body will produce cortisol to fight the problem. Cortisol is one of our stress hormons.

You might have gluten and/or lactose intolerance without it showing up on tests. So my advice is to quit it, for at least 30 days, and quit all types of grain for that time. Some people get better in just days, but some get much worse when they go gluten free. Either way, your on the right track.

Also manage your stress. Work, relationship, economy, sleep, and so on.

Hope this would help.

I have the same problem. My ENT diagnosed it as acid reflux, but...the mornings that I don't have to wake up bright and early to go to school I'm completely fine (coincidence, huh?). I believe it is stress related, but I also believe my doctor could be right about the acid reflux since my father is also diagnosed. My ENT said to sleep slightly elevated so that the acid doesn't come up, and don't eat too close to bed time. He also "prescribed" Prilosec OTC but my regular physician thinks I need something stronger as I am seeing no results. Best of luck!

Could it also be that moving caused you to use a different pillow and that also that new house didn't have things you might have been allergic to?

I too have had this problem since I was a child. Reading through all the posts, I had to smile, even at the ones regarding diet and the dietary causes. I have seen ENTs, Gastroenterologists, Internists, Allergists, you name it regarding this problem over the years, and still to no avail. I even saw a holistic doctor that told me I didn't have enough acid in my stomach in the mornings to dissolve a jar of baby food!

When I was younger I had horrible allergies, and we had originally thought this was the problem. I began taking allergy medicine, but as an adult have grown out of my allergies and even when I do not take an antihistamine I still experience phlegm in my stomach, but not in my sinus. So, this tells me it is not a drainage problem.

Currently I am going to a integrative medicine practice. They have helped me with many other things, and I am hopeful they will help with this. I will give an update of my progress over the next month.

My husband had the same issues. His doctor wanted to put him on nexium but after research, I discovered that the medication the doctor prescribes is worse. I decided to take a natural route. After months of experimenting, I found a combination that has fully cured him of it. First take a prebiotic daily, this will help restore the natural bacteria that has been damaged in your gut. There are a lot of options so be careful with choosing one bc a lot can be very misleading. You want one that has at least 40 billion strands. We buy Flora from whole foods. The other thing is taking an enzyme 3 times a day. I highly recommend Enzymedica - Digest Gold with ATPro. You can find it on amazon or any health food store. This combination has worked for my husband and many friends who suffer from this. I hope it can also help you.

Hi! I haven't committed on this post until now. My son is 16, and he has been waking up almost daily and throwing up, and then dry heaving. It seems to wake him up, and he runs to the toilet. He is throwing up a lot of congestion (we did have allergy test ran). He also is a teenager, and likes to hang out with his friends and eat "junk" food. What I have noticed, is it seems to be worse at the start of school / or fall, so not sure if it is anxiety, or if making him go to school this year after getting sick is the cause of the anxiety. We have horrible morning, then it passes and he is normal again. I've looked into whether it is "pot"(certain people can not tolerate it...which is good), "foods", "allergy testing, even parasites. Still no answers. We need help NOW!
