I had a very similar experience with a 9 lb weight loss at 5 weeks post partial hysterectomy, likely attributable to decreased appetite post op (inactivity, slowed bowel function). Initially it was rest and more rest and alot of boredom. Once my energy returned and chronic anemia (after months of daily heavy bleeding) resolved , my sense of well being clicked on as did my motivation! Sometimes we only realize how very bad we had been feeling once we feel well again. I was reluctant and anxious but I have no regrets and am grateful to all who have been so encouraging.
I am 4 months post operative vaginal hysterectomy, and i am 46 years old.I decided to get up as soon as possible after my operation and gets lots of exercise and did lose lots of weight in the beginning. But now i havent been doing much exercise, and my bowels are so much better and i have startedto eat a bit to much chocolate which is really bad. But because in the past i couldnt eat chocolate im making up for it now.But looking in the mirror i just decided to get more fruit and exercise more. So hopefully i should shift the weight again.
Dear All,
I am so happy I found this site after searching through the internet I was becoming very anxious with all the horror stories. I am 37 and have 2 beautiful kids. I have Endometrioses/POC and very bad PMS. I have also had a burst cyst on my ovary and a polyp removed from my uterus. I have suffered for years and have only recently met a wonderful Gyne that is helping me. Two months ago I started on Tibolone although it has help a little I am still not feeling good and have put on a lot of weight :(
I am booked in for surgery on the 2nd July and have the big decision to make, either laser for the Endo or a hysterectomy. My Gyne is now thinking the hysterectomy might be a better option.
After being miserable for years at least two weeks of the ,I am now ready to take drastic action but am also concerned weather I am making the right decision. My Dr also wants to put in a MERINA at the end of the surgery this will help with the progesterone and remain on the Tibolone. My weight has been steady increasing over the last few months particularly in the tummy region, the thought of gaining more weight after surgery is even more worrying. If anyone has any advise or thoughts I would appreciate it. Thank YOU.
Could it be that your headache is from dehydration?
I am 15 days post-op complete vaginal hysterectomy I am still a little sore and tire easily but over all good. I too have had an immediate weight loss of 10 lbs. My uterus weighed over 700 Grams. I lost nearly 10 lbs. Pre op just from anxiety. I was having bleeding so bad I had to have 2 blood transfusion within six months Pre op. The last one just a week before surgery .Was so run down I could barely sweep my floors.it takes time to get back to normal after getting so run down.
Thanks for the positive comments to all. I too am having surgery later this month (I meet with the doctor next week to set up the appointment) ... and I am ALREADY freaking out!!! I can see how this can REALLY be a stressor. I was like, oh, surgery, let's do it and relieve my pain. But you're right, with all that is posted online, it does make you want to cancel and retreat under the covers! I am gonna stop reading the negative and jus try to psyche myself up with the positives. Good luck to you!
Hi,
I am scheduled for a partial hysterectomy this October. I had an ablation done, that worked only somewhat. I have adenomyosis and my uterus is enlarged size 3 months pregnant. I am petriried of this surgery and I too made the mistake of going on google. I am also scheduled for the bladder sling too. Has anyone on this forum had that done? I keep getting cold feet and want to cancel.
I am glad to hear the positive experiences on this post. I am scheduled in October for a partial hysterectomy. My stomach feels so full all the time I think from adenomyosis, I hope the surgery helps. I have to avoid the bad experiences posted and listen to the good ones. I everyone here recovers quickly and I hope I have the nerve to get this done.
Thank you for posting, I am the same as your friend a 4 month preg. and the Dr told me I would only loose maybe a lb.....I was very depressed he told me my problem was disease of the mouth! I laughed it off but I have been trying to loose this weight for over a year and have been very discouraged. My surgery is scheuled for September and I can't wait to hopefully loose this weight once and for all. I will continue to excersise once I am able, I haven't since I found out what my problem is only becuase of the horror stories I have heard, ruptures, If anyone else has continued to excerise prior to surgery let me know, I am just a big chicken and don't know if I should be or if I should just go for it and take my chances.....
I just had a Hysterectomy/Posterior-Anterior Repair. I FEEL GREAT and it has been less than two weeks. I have lost my appetite to where I now eat only about 1/2 cup portions at any given time. I am losing weight naturally due to less intake. I have been drinking plenty of water whereas before I was not. The open floodgate of hormones has been capped with the hyst. I still have the ovaries but they are not gushing hormones. I had no pain the day I came home. I was getting tired easily but now may or may not feel the need for a nap once during the day. Still no lifting and I can see why. You start to feel a weird strain in your abs or behind them if you do. I did have to come home with a catheter and leave it in for a week. Took it out myself and was peeing just fine on my own. I feel this has been a great experience overall and the benefits are wonderful. My uterus was about the size of a five month pregnancy and was riddled with tennis and golf ball sized fibroids. Yuk. They delivered a 7lb child basically.
Hi,
I am so glad to hear you are feeling well post surgery. Did you get the bladder sling too? I am scheduled Oct 4 for a partial hysterectomy and bladder sling and I am really nervous. I keep wanting to cancel surgery but then read these posts and so far I am still scheduled.
I'm soooo glad to read something positive. I'm scheduled for a partial next week & almost cancelled it several times. I had four gigantic fibroids, the largest resting on top of my bladder. I opted for a uterine fibroid embolization which didn't work out as planned. All in all, I have been bleeding for 10 long agonizing months. I'm hopeful the partial will give me my life [and body]back again.
