Hello,

I had my procedure on Jan 17, 2013.  I'm one week out now.

Day 1 (Thursday) - severe pain afterwards.  I stayed in the hospital for 6 hours after to get the pain down and my blood pressure (due to pain).  Once that was under control, I felt much better.  I had the IV and was OUT.

Day 2 - relaxed - however severely swollen stomach & gut.  As in my pj pants were expanded to their limit

Day 3 - went to a bday party and was probably on my feet too much.  Very swollen, gut tender.

Day 4 - 7 - My lower gut is still tender to the touch.  But nothing horrible.  However..... I feel like I'm constantly peeing or leaking.  I feel it.  I hate that and hope it will go away.  I'm wearing long thin pads and the "leak" is for the most part cleark with a very slight tint of yellow.  It's actually keeping me up at night.  I'll roll over and feel it.

Doctor did tell me to expect an "impressive amount of water" a few days after procedure.  And again in a couple weeks.  I wouldn't say it's impressive, just one continuous leak.

I'm only a week out and other than day 1 I feel ok.  I feel like something was done and I need to take it easy.  Once in a blue moon I'll feel really sick to my stomach, but it passes.

Next week I'm suppose to get my period.... so I'm really hoping I'm one of the lucky ones and it will completely stopped.  My periods were so bad I resorted to wearing bladder control pads - having to change them every 30 minutes on those bad days.

I went thru the novasure procedure on Jan.23, 2013 and it's three days later I have bad cramping and still bleeding. They say I may have that for at least two weeks. March 5th is my follow-up date. I don't know if I should be waiting that long.

I had the Novasure procedure last friday(25th) and after the operation i was in alot of pain and had to be given morphine and codine phosphate. The cramps have eased and the symptons i am getting now is a feeling of light headiness and a recurrent headache and a bit giddy and weak.If i do too much i come over all tired. My blood pressure was high in the hospital so not sure if these symptons are blood pressure related or due to the operation.Seeing my GP tomorrow as want to go back to work after being off for a week.Has anyone else experienced these symptons?

I had the Novasure procedure and D & C done 6 days ago. So far so good. I had it done in the hospital with anesthesia. I didn't have much pain afterward. Lower stomache area just felt tight and irritated. When my bladder was full or I had to pass gas, the area was sensitive. I took the 2 days following surgery off work. Should have taken 3. They said you can go back to work the next day, but I would not recommend it (unless you have a sit down job). I stand for 5 hours and the first day back was hard. Now 6 days post op and I really don't feel anything. I still have a light discharge though. The only thing I recommend is taking 3 days off afterward.

Hi ladies

I have had my Op 5 days ago. I am a 41 yr old lady, suffered full on heavy peroids for 8 yrs. My last peroid last month i was bleeding for at leat 8 to 9 days, (this was the first for this long) and had my Op on Monday 11th Feb 2013, on date so far i was behind about 4 and half weeks of no peroid, prob because i was stressed about the op. So i went in for OP on Monday, as i was walking down to theatre i popped to the ladies and hey presto i started my peroid.

I had the Op, and they kept me in all day, till tea time. I had severe cramps, doubled over whilst walking, tender sore and bloated in my lower pelvic area. I did not have any bleeding. I went home and rested for a couple of days.:'(

I did a work out on the treadmill two days later, i took it slow and did 2 miles part jog/part walk on it. I regretted it in the evening, as i had severe cramps, twisted and knotted, sore and bloated then the red watery bleeding started. I crawled to bed, rested for the night. I have not worked out since. I have vacuumed today, slowly and hey presto, the cramps came back on. I find that my bleeding smells awful. It smells medicated then sometimes it smells as if something has died in there, ugghh. Can someone tell me is this normal? the bloated, sore, tender and smell? I am also getting sharp pain shearing through me since the Op, (sometimes) in my pelvic womb area. My bleeding is still red/watery and sometimes looks like tea stains on my pads. To be honest, i feel as though i have been vacuumed in there.

I also suffer from other health conditions and the normal for me is to get a fever daily in the night when stressed so this was a blessing when i have not had fever with this op.

If you ladies could be so kind to give me some advice please.  :-) Should it smell like the way it does? Should you still suffer from cramps, bloated, sore and tender on the lower pelvic area? %-) Thank You Ladies, and God Bless.

Sammy

Had my Novasure 1 week ago. Did not have any cramps at all, but have discharge that seems to be worse en the evening - still nothing a panty liner can hold. In the beginning it was watery with some redness to it, but now it's more watery with a yellow/brownish tint. It does not smell.

I still feel a little bloated and sometimes I have a feeling that my ovaries are twitching.

In two days I have a follow up at the doctor

So far I would recomend to others ;-)

Hi Sammy, I had the hydrothermal ablation on Dec 6, 2012. So far so good. When I had the procedure done, I immediately had severe cramping. I knew this would happen from extensive research, and what my doctor told me. He was the best. I had cramping for the first night, the second night was basic twinges that felt period like, but nothing extreme. During the next few days, I listened to my body, and not so much what was being said about "quick recovery." I found that when I started climbing the stairs in my home after about 3 days, my body didn't approve, because the cramping would start. So, I took about a week off to be totally committed to allowing my body to heal. I took short walks to the bathroom, and to my office, just to keep my blood flowing so I wouldn't develop any clots, but I RESTED for about a week. This proved to be a great idea, because after that week, I slowly began to leave the house, and move around as usual, but taking it easy as I did. I found that walking outside on the cement, or inside of stores also made me cramp. This is because I had to allow my body to heal properly. I had the the discharge that was orangish in color, but the smell was that of discharge, just heavier in scent. I had what I guess was supposed to be my period, about 2 weeks ago, and it was simply a small smear of brown discharge, then another smear of pinkish discharge. That was my period:) I was happy about that, and now, nothing. No bleeding, my discharge is clear in color, and no more orangish discharge. So far so good. At this point (2/21/2013) I am extremely satisfied with my ablation. Life is not only normal, it's better. I have to get used to being able to have sex with the hubby anytime I feel like it:). No more sanitary products, BUT I still definitely have PMS, and that part I hate. But, that's all due to the Perimenopause, so I expect it. Working out helps me with that. Sammy, just be kind to your body, and listen to it. Let it heal, because it is basically being cooked on the inside, and that's still a shock to the body wether they tell you that or not. Even though the procedure is quick, and done out of office, and they say you can move around the next day, your body needs time to heal, period. You take it easy now, you'll be glad you did when your 6 weeks is over (that's when I had to see my doctor for follow up). Good luck to you!

I am 2 weeks into recovery on 27.02.2013, & I'm in the UK. My gynaecologist, a woman, only does this procedure under a general & they say recovery is a week, & no unprotected intercourse for 2 weeks.  Whilst they are there they also check out the uterus with a camera (can't recall the name of this), so they check for fibroids etc & then check how the procedure has gone after as well.

I must admit that having it under general was great, but more pain relief after would have been good - just paracetamol & codeine:-(( was very sore for the first few hours, then just very achy, went out & about the following day as I felt fine & then got a violent cramps above the belly button, for about 5 hours & then very achy for about 3 days, & finding bending down difficult.

I've had a fairly heavy discharge for the last 2 weeks - about 4+ pads a day/night with an unpleasant smell:-((( & have had an almost constant lower belly & back ache since, although they are easing off now as well.

I had the ablation done one week ago, it was the time I was supposed to start my cycle.  I bled and passed large clots over the next couple of days, it switched to red discharge, then brown now it is a lighter pink.  Urine is cloudy still but drinking plenty of liquids to keep things going through.  Cramping is still bad and I have back pain the more activity I do the more I discharge I have, still have to wear pads for the time being hopefully this will end soon.

The OB/GYN prescribed Cyclomen for 6 weeks prior to the ablation so the mood swings are more evident now because I had to withdraw from this medication and the hormones from the procedure makes my partner's life a little hectic because she is not sure what mood I will be in.  The only saving grace is that I have medications I take regularly that will maintain the severity of the moods that might come.

So this is a great procedure to have done to enhance your quality of life but the recovery varies from every individual so hang in there you will make it through...and the money you save on your monthly supplies you can save to take a trip to Vegas! Cheers!

I had a d&c and rollerball ablation 3 days ago 3/1/13 under general anest. No pain after procedure, just light cramps and a twinge here and there. Felt great next day, was able to run errands, but today I am really tired!!!

It took me 6-8 weeks to recover from the novasure. I switched doctors and got a second opinion because I just didn't feel like it should have taken that long. Good Luck

I had Nova Sure ablation a D & C and hysteoscopy in hospital under general anesthesia with a history of 4 previous c-sections, tubal ligation, a D&E, 2 laparoscopic abdominal surgeries and 1open incision abdominal surgery.  This surgery was just under an hour and I woke to pain which I was promptly given pain medication for via the IV. I don't know which kind because I didn't ask. I went home about 2 or 3 hours after waking feeling quite reasonable and stable on my feet.

At home, day 1: 2 Vicodin and 3 total Aleve, spaced apart. I slept a lot and felt quite amazed how decent I felt when awake. Cramping would have been fairly significant had it not been for the Vicodin which worked very well.

day 2 stayed on Aleve for 48 hours as it was the Dr's orders, MILD bloat and cramping, sleepy

Day 3- I felt wonderful and I have ever since- It has now been 8 days

Bleeding was only light pink and I passed a couple clots between day 1-2. It was completely over as of day 5

This has been by far the easiest surgery I ever had.  My cycles were so,so,so much more painful and I bled so heavy that I would leak through being doubled up and I would sit on the toilet and "just bleed" there so things wouldn't be so messy.

I will check back in after a month or two to update how my "cycles" are post ablation. So far my only regret is my fear and delaying ablation for a long time due to the fear. Most of my fear was created from reading message boards such as this but I wanted to do my homework before proceeding.  It was my last cycle that had me on collapsed on the kitchen floor bawling in pain because I couldn't get up due to cramps that ran straight down my legs from my uterus to my knee caps along with extreme bleeding that convinced me that I could not do this any more. I have discontinued taking iron and will have that level tested next month at my physical. I have advise for that as well.  I had stomach upset from most iron supplements. I found a whole foods iron at a health food store that did not upset my stomach. If you are anemic from heavy cycles you might give it a try.

Best Wishes.
