i'm 38 year. i have get light-headedness and then been imbalance (like giddiness but not that kind

of giddiness which will cause one to faint) for 4 months already.

i get it from side effect of medicine - Suspected overdose. [One ENT specialist agreeded that i was overdosed].

The experience is torturing and scary even till now as it keep transforming. Now the light-headeded

subisded but other symtoms (like constant sense of nausea, imbalance when tunring the head, a tight band around the

head and sometimes pressing sensation on top of the head, sense of swaying when standing in an upright position

but don't really fall or faint, back muscle "tightness", whole body like lethargic and weak in normal actions) had emerged.

i have done MRI scan, blood test and tried many dizziness medicines. Have seen Mount E specialsit, SGH, CGh, ENT specialist

i'm gettng helpless. i'm really afraid it is starting symtoms for a bigger illness, which then could be detected.

it is very difficult for me to concentrate and work like this. Everyday is a torture.

Does anyone out experience like this and got any solution ?

I have to say that since I first posted on this forum about 3 months ago, my symptoms have subsided, to the point that they are almost non-existent.  Oddly enough, what started the road to recovery was this forum.  I was so worried and anxious that there was something medically wrong with me, in spite of all the tests I did, but when I read here that there are so many people with symptoms, who are perfectly healthy, the anxiety went away.  And as soon as the anxiety went away, I started feeling better.  So maybe it is all psychological, after all.

I’m 30 and am experiencing the same symptoms as most of you (for 1.5 years). I'm still hopeful that I will find the cause of this constant lightheadedness. This condition has made me a hermit -- I avoid functions in fear that I will pass out, which I have twice. Furthermore, this has impaired my ability to drive on freeways which I’ve never had such issue. I’ve been to the ENT, neuro, had an MRI and brain scan, physical and vision therapy. The only thing left is cardio. Just curious if anyone has took anxiety medication, and if so, did this relieve the discomfort? I feel this may be my problem, but then again, I feel like my current condition is causing my anxiety. My primary doc wants to put me on meds, but I don’t want to put a bandage on the problem.

Best of luck to everyone!

If you're perfectly healthy, then
there shouldn't be any reason to be anxious.  That was my biggest fear:
that medically something was off.  Once I found nothing was, it helped
me relax.  By the way, there's also this thing called a heads-up tilt test.  You may want to google it and find out more.  It may help isolate the root cause.

Hi, I have just come across this as I have been getting light headed symptoms since being on holiday a couple of weeks back. I am going to the docs tomorrow but cannot think what it might be. I will get BP test and see if it's low, but it's doing my head in. I cannot concentrate properly! I thought it was because I'd bumped my head so I went for osteo. It did improve but has come back again! Fatigue and bad habits do make it worse I think.

Hi, I am 24 years old, I am a ver healthy person, I exercise often, I have veru good eating habit, but about a week ago I just woke up feeling like this, docs can't find anything wrong with me, does anybody know if there is a cure? how long does this last? I can't concentrate on my job, I can't drive, sometimes I can barely walk. About a month ago, someone broke a beer bottle on my head I don't know is that has anything to do with it. I just recently finished college, I have my whole life ahead of me, am I going to feel this way always?

My problem is solved. This thread is the first one I found related to my problem when I started to search in the Internet a month ago. Thanks for the information provided here, I did not go for CAT or MRI. A month ago I had almost all the symtoms mentioned here: lightheaded, fear of fainting, irregular heart beat, etc. I almost gave up on driving. One day when I was waiting for a green light at an intersection I felt so strong that I was going to faint, so I drove to an ER. As mentioned by many people here, all my tests in the hospital were normal. So I believed it was caused by something else and started to search for an answer. After several days of research, I believe it was so-called "panic attack". It was hard to believe becuase I had nothing to be stressed out in my work and life, but it is true. I looked at the "panic attack" item in the Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic_attack. The critical things for me to determine were "Limited Symptom Attack" and "panic attacks are often sudden and unprovoked". I didn't take any medications; instead, I took cognitive restructing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_restructuring) by myself, that is, I started to believe that I was not going to faint because I actually never really passed out and I changed my way to recognize or feel my feelings of my body. I stopped drinking coffee and smoking because some articles believe that coffee can trigue lightheaded or even panic attack. My problem has been gone for three weeks now. Today I had my last testing result from the hospital (the ER I went) about my heart and it was all good.

Hi im 21 years old and i started having dizzy spells when i was about 15 years old. I've had about 8 of these episodes since i've been 15. What happens is I get lightheaded my vision gets blurred to the point where i can't see at all until i am able to sit down. They only happen in situations where I am standing up for a long period of time. I thought i was going crazy and they would only last for about 5 seconds so i never bothered seeing a doctor about this. Each one i have gets closer to the point of fainting and they have become more frequent within the last couple of months. No one usually notices me having tham. The last one I had I was with my mom and my aunt and I fell in some bushes on my way to sitting down because I couldn't see, which is scary because I have perfect vision. They pushed me to go to the ER and all the ER did was test to see if I was pregnat basically and told me everything was normal at that time I thought they did all the tests that were needed. They sent the results to my doctor and now I have to have all these blood tests that have to be done because they didnt do it at the ER. I hate having blood drawn.  My doctor is also having me see a cardiologist and a neurologist. I don't want to go through all of this and have them find nothing. Lately I have been feeling really tired and sleeping a lot more than usual. I also cant focus sometimes because of being lightheaded. The odd thing about these episodes is that they usually happen out of the blue i would feel fine before and after each one. Except for the last one I was feeling little nasuas that day and threw up a little bit it was also a really hot day.

I think that's the solution in the end.  With most of us, there is nothing physically wrong.  It's all in our... well, head.  So I think the approach you took is the one that would make the most sense.  I sort of did the same thing: stopped thinking about it and letting it take over my life and within a few weeks the symptoms went away.

I have suffered from lightheadedness since my thirties. The cause was always blamed on my monthly cycle and hormonal changes. In my early fifties the monthly cycle was not an issue anymore but I was getting to the point that I could not function. I changed physician and was immediately referred to a cardiologist that specializes in vascular problems and electrical problems. After a battery of testing the tilt table test confirmed a diagnosis of vasodepressor syncope. There is medication for this and my life is so much better. I do still suffer from the symptoms and I do still faint on occasion but at least I can function reasonably, however, I cannot concentrate for long periods of time and some days I cannot drive.

I too have suffered with chronic lightheadedness for 2 and a half years. Through my search and many tests, I have realized that my problem was ultimately with a misaligned atlas vertebrae. I have been seeing an upper cervical chiropractor for the last year, and it has definitely helped. Though I still have the lightheadedness, the severity has been dramatically reduced. With your comment about the beer bottle, it makes my think that maybe you should get your neck checked.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web

Hello,

I am elated (and saddened) to hear so many of you have the same symptoms!  Over 2 years ago I passed out while driving - it was TOTALLY out of the blue!  I had EVERY test known to man, and other than being diagnosed with anxiety nothing showed up.  Again, it's been 2 years and I STILL have constant bouts of lightheadedness EVERYDAY - it's taken away my ability to drive long distances (I'm still afraid of it happening again), and I don't want to keep mentioning to my doctor because she just made my anxiety meds stronger.  I do suffer from anxiety, but I don't believe it's the root cause.  Let me know if anyone has received further information on this.  I'm just happy not to be alone.

I have had constant lightheadedness along with fatigue, sensitivity to food/sugar, frequent urination, headaches, adrenal pain and more. I believe that it is a blood sugar/adrenal issue. I am going to see both a homeopathic and a regular doctor to receive more testing. Good tests to get include saliva cortisol throughout the day, glucose tolerance test, and insulin test (to check both high and low). Also vegetarians seem to have more trouble with these symptoms from a diet to high in carbohydrates (this is all vegetarians eat.. veggies are carbs) I have been vegetarian for 6 years and am now starting to eat fish because i am so desperate to feel better again. i have had to quit my job and have been bed-ridden for a few weeks. Check out this videos that explain blood sugar problems, from hypoglycemia to insulin resistance.

Also, if you don't have insurance or your doctor wont administer the testing that you want, you can order and pay for tests online at various sites in your area.
Hoping to help and hoping to feel better...
