Hi. I notice while I'm in bed (laying in all positions) a wheezing or gurgling sound when I exhale. Anyone familiar with this?

It sounds very wierd, but I finally found a cure for all the symtoms I was having.....my brother told me to try this liquid called SILVER SOLUTION, made by NUTRONIX. I take 2 teaspoons 3x a day and also use the nasal spray 3x a day. I felt a little better in 2 days and after a week I am 99% better. After all the doctors, steroids, antibiotics, etc for 10 weeks, with no improvement, FINALLY THE GURGLING, BUBBLING chest mucus and cough are gone! Hey, I am a registered nurse and have always believed in the normal health care system. This time the system failed me but SILVER SOLUTION really worked!!! Good luck to all of you out there suffering, i hope you all find a cure too!
I had the same symptoms since I got the flu in Dec it lasted until last week. i smoked for decades and quit about 8 years ago but I've been chewing nicorett gum ever since. Anyhow, The x-rays showed clear and the doctor diagnosed it as a nasal drip. I would never have guessed that because I have not been coughing or blowing my nose but after I started using the nasal spray, The symptoms are totally gone. I would have sworn I had cancer or something but I think the stress of worring was contributing to my anxiety. Hopefully this is all it is for the rest of you, Good Luck.
I have had this same end of breath wheeze for a few months, seems to be getting better. Coughing up mucous less each day. The scary part being an X-smoker and putting the symptoms in and seeing copd come up as a possible disease is no fun.

It's unbelievable that so many people have the same symptoms, but no diagnosis.  It's so frustrating.  I've had this for almost 9 months now.
Everybody sounds like their having the exact same issues i'm having.  wheezing at the end of an exhaled breath especially at night, happens very seldom during the day.  I have gotten so tired of it, the only thing that would take care of the wheezing was prednizone (ent doesn't want to put me on steroids), I had my ENT set me up an appointment with a pulmonologist to get a bronchoscope run to see how my lungs and airways are doing.  I had the bronchoscope just about a month ago, and the results were:  lungs and airways are fine, diagnosis was tracehomalacia with cough.  Means that there is a soft section that is floppy in my upper trachea, and when I cough it collapses.  I have done quite a bit of research on this and it seems as though that this is what is causing all of my breathing issues.  I go back in to see the pulmonologist for treatment options or possibly more testing.  One test i've research that they may want to do is a sleep study test :(.  But if it will help me breath better, i'm all for it since i don't wake refreshed in the morning (i'm always tired).  My husband tells, me that I snore very lightly (but not really a snore (probably a wheeze is what he's hearing)).  Another treatment is removal of tonsils and adnoids which they say helps tremendously, also removing a section of the uvula as well.  We'll see what the treatment is in a few weeks.
Hello all! Ive been searching all over trying to figure out this same problem. Im 22 female, fairly good health, never been diagnosed with anything but dust and pollen allergies, which I combat with benadryl when my symptoms get bad. But, ever since the middle of this past year, I have noticed that I have been having the same symptoms you all are describing. My family has a history of asthma, but I have been checked for it several times, and the results are always negative. But lately, whatever this is has gotten worse for me. It has become EVERY night. I've tried the benadryl, I've tried sudaphed, I've tried mucinex, nothing is working. It's getting so bad to the point where I will wake up early early in the morning...like three or four, and I feel like something is sitting on my chest, very heavy, and I sound like I'm trying to force air out of a straw. My fiance, bless him, has started massaging my chest, and putting a slight bit of pressure on my breast bone, and it seems to work for a little while. But then after waking up again at a more decent hour, its right back to where it was. I honestly have no idea how this happened. I think I have had two colds since this started, which of course, made this whole thing worse. But, the colds came after the symptoms we are all describing. I just hope someone figures out what is going on? I've tried humidifiers as well, but that doesnt seem to help in the slightest. What can i do?
I took Harpadol (Devil's Claw) made by a French company Arkopharma as well as Plantain capsules made by the same company. Also vitamins, selenium, echinachea, etc. It gradually went away. Yay!
I too have wheezing upon exhale. I have had chest xrays and EKG's, Blood work or labs, pulm tests too and yup nothing shows. I had swine flu 2 yrs ago but this has been since the last 8yrs, a constant cough w/no results, some times pink color and some times tastes metallic like blood. About 8 yrs ago had a bad flu as well. This all started after a flu shot I got about 9 yrs ago. I also was on antibiotics both times. Have had bronchitis many times and pneumonia 2 times. Was born w/bronchitis. I also have nite sweats, at times a fever, constant wheeze but much more so at nite. I can not breathe in deep much but can exhale much longer and cough when I do. If I laugh hard it turns to coughing and up comes stuff and I cough for a good 5 minutes. I have sinus issues a deviated septum, have had swallowing issues a tightness in my throat and many times a sore throat. Been to ear nose and throat specialist and he says allergies. I too take Claratin daily and I am worse if I miss a day of it. I also have a stick goop in my eyes that never goes away. I am 47, 210 lbs, blood pressure good at 125/70, cholesterol 205. I dont eat fatty foods but love me some sugary foods. I worked out for yrs, but 5 yrs ago got very sick w/many things wrong from head to toe. So became bed ridden, but fought my way back, but not real active anymore. And heavy chested feeling or tight breathing along w/fibromylgia and early osteo/arthritis makes working out painful and w/chronic fatigue I have no energy. I use to work out daily, was at 8% body fat wt about 105 and am 5'2", was very cut and into giving my body such wholesome nutrition, I lost all that and turned into this. My breathing really effects my activity. And I have never smoked anything in my life, no booze or drugs!! I do drink diet coke daily and do get at times more phlegm after that but not always. Maybe have food allergies as well. All I know is it is good to know I am not alone in Dr's not really knowing what is wrong. I sometimes wonder if the flu shot didn't bring all this on. After what Jessi Ventura and how they put things now that r bad for us in vaccines and flu shots, mine started after the flu shot????
I have not had the flu or bronchitis or pneumona for years. And I have no know allergies. I'm 62 years old. for the last 4 nights I'm waking up hearing the gurgling in my chest along with the wheezing. I cough to loosen it up and I've been putting Vicks on my chest and near my nose. I'm also on a C-pap machine with oxygen, but I've never had any problems before (it's been 10 years). Any ideas? Also, other than tired due to restless nights, I'm not ill.

I have had this also for the last 7 months. I thought it was from smoking. But when I exercise all wheezing goes away. Any suggestions?
You need to get these symptoms looked at quickly. I had these symptoms in Nov 2010 and after an endoscopy was found to have Oseaphagus Cancer. It was a stage III tumour and I underwent agressive chemotherapy and then major surgery. Please ask for a referral to an Upper GI Con sultant as soon as you can. I hope it's all OK, but GP's do not pay enough heed to acid reflux symptoms.
I am 14 years (15 in 6 days) old and today while i was laying down i noticed a exhale wheezing sound when i was exhaling and was weird-ed out when someone finds out what this is Message me on Facebook George Houle (am wearing a grey sweater in my pro pic)
