Humans typically wait until there is a problem before a treatment plan is implemented. A beauty ritual is essential for keeping skin issues from occurring in the first place.

Aging is a natural part of life. There are so many things that a person can do to prolong his or her life and to look good while doing it. DNA and genetics can only go so far, and you're stuck with them anyway, so the proactive steps you take matter most.

Most women begin their beauty routine at an early stage of their lives. And, most women also use the products that their mothers used until they find beauty products that work better for them. But, with the wealth of information and beauty products available, where should a person begin looking for the products that they need?

The skin is the largest organ in the body. The skin is a filtering device, and the organ that literally denotes where we end and the world begins. If anything is going wrong on the inside it surely will show on the outside. Acne, Psoriasis, Eczema, Dry Skin, Stress; the list of skin issues are endless and so are the products available to treat them. Preventing a skin condition is always the number one reason to use skin care. But, besides treating the skin on the outside is just as important as what goes inside.

Just as all parts of the outer part of your body need care, what you put into your body is just as important.

Dehydration is not Attractive.

Water: There is nothing more essential that you can do for your body or beauty routine than drinking an abundant amount of water. Unfortunately, the water that comes out of our kitchen sinks is not the pure form of water that is needed. Even the water that you get in bottles is often of questionable quality. It might be spring water, or it might be glorified tap water.

Distilled water is the purest water that you can buy and is probably the best water for your well being. There are no minerals, or chemicals for that matter, found in distilled water. The trace minerals needed for the proper functioning of the human body is so small, that getting them from water is not important for most people.

Actually, if you have arthritis or high blood pressure, drinking distilled water would be the best alternative for you.

Since it is so pure, distilled water raises the freezing point; distilled water gets colder than regular water making it a very refreshing and delicious treat when put on ice. Not to mention that contributing to the pile up of plastic bottles in the landfills is ecologically irresponsible.

On average, the body is made up of 70 percent water. And, if your urine is a dark yellow color then you are severely dehydrated. Urine in a healthy human being should be close to the color of lemonade or lighter. When not properly hydrated the body will retain a percentage of water to function. A constant replenishing of the body's water supply will cut down on water retention, contributing to weight loss, and will also minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Wrinkles deepen when the body is dehydrated: the body will absorb the water in the skin, filling the wrinkles back out. Knowing how much your body needs is another issue.

The recommended amount of water is not agreed upon in the scientific community

The recommend amount of water according to the RDT (reference daily intake) is from 91.3 to 125.1 ounces in the average adult. Some Fitness trainers and doctors recommend drinking half of your body weight of water everyday:

Drink half of your body weight in water, every day, for optimal health. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, divide 150 by 2 which means you should consume 75 ounces of water, daily.

Take a Water Challenge!

Make a conscious effort to drink, at least, the recommended amount of water everyday for two weeks and don’t let anyone know what you are doing. After a week people will start to notice that you have done something different and the complements will start pouring in.

If you still don’t believe that water is an essential part of your beauty routine, take a water challenge and see for yourself.

The best part of the water challenge: after two weeks of drinking the water that your body so desperately needs, your body will begin to crave this magical elixir and drinking water will become a habit. And, a habit is what a beauty routine is essentially.

Treatment Of Skin And Skin Care Issues

Treatment for any skin concern requires a great deal of research. The amount of trial and error of what you may need for your skin can be quite a costly quest. As you grow older, anti-aging products become a large part of a beauty regiment, as well. Choosing the right product for every need can cause some stress all by itself.

The best way to avoid unnecessary spending is to seek the help of a licensed professional. Getting professional recommendation may cost a little bit of money but it would be a cost effective solution by knowing exactly what you would need.

A Medical Esthetician is trained to diagnose skin problems and is able to recommend a product for every need. These professionals work under the supervision of an M.D. so if a problem cannot be corrected with a beauty routine, a Doctor can make a recommendation for treatment.

Sunscreen

Besides proper hydration, diet, and cleansing, the next most important thing that you can do for your skin is to always wear sunscreen.

Sunscreen is essential to prevent the harmful damage from the sun’s harmful rays. Using the highest sun block possible is mandatory to prevent skin cancer as well as premature aging. Remember that the number of the SPF factor indicates the amount of time during which the sunscreen will protect your skin. For example, a 50 SPF factor on sunscreen is designed to last 50 minutes. Applying sun protection once a day will not be effective for optimal protection, and you will need to apply sunscreen again every few hours during hot summer days. Sunscreen can be very useful in the colder months as well, especially if you are skiing.

To avoid wasting precious time and money seek the help of a beauty professional. It is never to early to begin a beauty routine.

Cleansing the Face

Everyone washes their face, unfortunately, most do not wash correctly. The best way to wash your face, and also what you wash it with, is the first step in skin care. The nightly cleansing should be done twice.

The first lather will remove the grease and grime collected during the day. The second cleansing should be done with a soft brush.

Brushing of the skin will remove dead skin cells, gently, which will help improve circulation. Improved circulation will encourage new cells to surface, knocking the dead skin off the face. The new healthy cells give the skin a radiant glow, leaving you with softer younger looking skin. Not to mention, that it will leave the skin ready for the next step in skin care - treatment.

A quick note to mention about cleansing- cleansing and exfoliation are two different things. With the explosion of facial scrubs available on the market, consumers are exfoliating much too often and creating micro-tears in their skin. Exfoliating skin with these micro-tears, daily, causes huge pores that can only be repaired with a laser treatment and/or chemical peels.

An essential treatment item that needs to be added to your beauty routine is an Antioxidant. Antioxidant will help prevent the Elastin from breaking down in your skin. The loss of Elastin will contribute to saggy skin and jowls. When your skin begins to sag, it is time to invest in products to rebuild and repair damaged skin.  Whether you chose to use Holistic Skin Care or over the counter products, research everything before you buy buying. If money is tight use baby products as a go to product when nothing else is available. Baby products are highly recommended for sensitive skin and pregnant or lactating women.
