Im 22 and I haven't my menstruation until now. It's scares me either.
I'm now 26 and have never had a period. My mum first took me tot the Drs when i was 17, as she was concerned that I had never had a period. After many blood tests and scans, it was found that my ovaries were not responding to my hormones and weren't creating eggs, due to this my eostrogen levels were low. None of the many tests were able to determine a cause of this, so for some unknown reason, during my life, my ovaries stopped working straight after I'd just started to go through puberty. I have been on birth control tablets since then which has given me a 'withdrawl bleed' and given me the hormones that I have been missing, and also helped me to develop through puberty. I have recently just changed Dr, who has changed my medication to HRT as it is a more natural therapy however I am yet to have a bleed on it. I have also had a bone scan to check if my bone density isnt weak due to the low hormones. Unfortunately, although the medication is helping with the hormones, I am still unable to have a natural period and cant develop eggs which means having a genetic child is not possible. I have known this since 17 and have come to terms with it now, its just an on going case of trying to get my hormone levels manageable, and hopefully on the new HRT, I will get a period to prevent any womb thickening.
Hi!
I know it's been over a year since you wrote this but I've just seen it and I had a similar problem.
I hadn't gotten my period for 2 years and got finally diagnosed with PCOS. However, I failed to tell the doc that I was having eating disorders - I was underweight. So after the diagnosis the doctor told me that it's going to be difficult for me to get pregnant and I'd have to undergo a surgical procedure (called "drilling") to be able to conceive.
2 years later, recovered from anorexia and bulimia, I counted on the docs diagnosis and words "you can't get pregnant" to not use any kind of birth control. Got pregnant immediately!

I too had never had a period up until last month. I am 28yo and the only change to my lifestyle since then was my sister-in-law moved in with her partner a month and a bit ago. I was always the only girl on the scene since I was a child (no sisters etc.) always around boys being tomboy myself. I think it's to do with hormones as after all the investigation and symptom management of my PCOS since I was 15 never done anything. Now I'm having a second period in just as many months. Hormones beget hormones, my Dr knew I had high testosterone and low estrogen but it is easier to get hormone treatment if you are a transgender man wanting to be women ( one of my best friend is currently going through this treatment) then for a women to be treated with women's hormones.
Please all there is nothing wrong with you.
Imbalance just means you need to reconnect to your feminity. I don't mean go shopping wear make up. I mean reconnect with the nature of things and your body. Sharing some time with strong femininity (people whose periods are very regular) is a natural way to rebalance your hormones.
Tribes and animal packs gather the females together weeks prior the mating season to aid fertility.
This society is too focused on what's normal what you have then what you are and our natural callings. Mothers aunties and grandmothers use to help raise children together but these days they expect solitary parenting and there to be no effect by the moon or the sun or the people around you.
Connect to yourself ground yourself be happy with the context of life now because until then you will be stuck in a loop of anger confusion and feeling not good enough when really whether you have a period or not does not make you any less of a person.
