I'm 21 and still waiting for that little red stream to come.. I've been in and out of so many gyno offices, it's rediculous. everytime I go in it's always " hmm... I can't seem to locate your cervix.." and you can tell by the look on their faces that their either in utter disbelief and shock or the pierced lips and the sadden head shake of sympathy while I just sit there crying. half the time I don't understand why the gyno/doc isn't offering to do the research to know what exactly is wrong. I mean if that's what they are specialized in, you'd think it'd be excitement for them to come accross such a rare situation to look into and understand it right?! but nope. yes give the referal, act like you feel sad for me, that's such bs. I walk out the door and it's like we never met. thanks.. for nothing. oh wait.. you forgot to ask "would you like to donate money to the clinic to support out great services?!" .. really?

my ultrasound experience was a total trip. slowly the room started to fill with one tech after another. and then another. they all bunched around the screen while they shoved that camera up and then the whispering began first.."do you see it? is that it? are you sure?.." there must've been 6 techs in the room.. then the main lady came in and basically gave them a lesson on the pictures on the screen, whatever it was they was looking at/for inside of me. and when all was said and done I asked what was going on.. " sorry I can't release any info, but wow" .. wth does that mean? I got cut from my insurance before I could get a hold of my results. my last gyno told me I should be open to the thought of a penis in there.

I don't even know why I go in to get checked anymore. feels like such a disappointment. seems like here on this site is the only place I've really felt relieved about this situation. guess I wasn't in the dark all by my self afterall. I guess this was my vent/ranting. why me.. why you.. hell why anyone? from what I remember in 7th grade biology .. "the humans purpose of living is to reproduce." so why don't I get that chance? I want kids that reflect me.

Hi Everyone,
I am 40 years old and I can relate to everything everyone has written. I thought I was the only human person in the world with this problem. I started seeing doctors at the age 16 and no one knew what I had I was told my ovaries & uteruses were too small. I was never going to have children ect……. 6years a go I ran to a problem. I was taking birth control patches just so I can get estrogen, I still wasn’t getting a menstrual I was taking them faithfully for about 6mos then I was getting abdominal pain call the doctor and he said to take the patch off I did, it didn’t get better . so I was rush to the hospital they told me that my uterus was full of blood and they called my doctor and he told them that the blood will evaporate so to send me home that I’ll be ok. Well the pain got worst and my friend recommends me to her doctor who specializes in fertility. I went and she rush me to the hospital and had to drain the blood and told me that if I would of waited any longer that would of burst and I could of died…. Scary! From this doctor she has given me hope I found out that my FSH is low, my ovaries are normal I have been taking the birth control and getting my menstrual (but only taking the birth control) I finally switched my insurance so I’m going back to her to see if I can get pregnant . I will get more information on our problem when I go to the doctor. My new insurance will not kick in until January. Not sure if this info help you any.

WOW I had no idea that others would be having the same issue as me. I am 21 with no period ever.

I know I have not even had hints of breasts until I was 18, now at 21 I have breasts, but they are not even fully developed.
I have had no period and have done hormone therapy twice, once when I was 16 then once when I was 18. I am going to try it again hopefully it will work this time.

I have a tiny uterus too, they could not find it in a ultrasound and had to do an MRI. I was told it could potentially grow and be able to have periods though. That was a few years ago.

I'm going through the same exact thing. It's so crazy. I'm 6'1 tall, curvy/slim frame, 23 years old and never had a period. I was put on premarin a couple years ago then taken off. Nothing happen with the premarin except I had grown some A cup breast. Last year I was put on birth control and I had a period for a couple of days after I finished the pills. Nothing else after I stopped taking the birth control. I had MRI's, ultasounds and was told that my uterus and ovaries are tiny. I was told that I had Ammenorea. This is depressing. My boyfriend always talks about having kids, it will kill me if I have to tell him that I can't have any. I want a family, I would be a great mother!! Why me? I just wish that it was a way to fix this. I'm still going to the doctor (saint vincents hospital) and if anything comes up I'll be sure to let you girls know. I feel your pain. If anyone wants to keep in contact with me please feel free

I'm 28 years old and have never started my periods. I went to the doctors at 17 and they said they couldn't find my ovaries, and not to worry about having periods as not in a relationship. I'm now engaged and we have discussed children so we went to a specialist and they are now running tests. I have had pelvic ultrasounds, ultrasounds ands many blood tests, yet again on my ultrasound they were unable to find my ovaries but was told they were probably underdevoloped as no periods and my womb was tiny. We have a appointment next week to see what they are gonna do for us.

my dr called it Mullerian Agenesis. They actuallly diagnosed it. But still acted like it was not a big deal. i expected lots of ooing and ahhing. when i was 17 that's exactly what i got. i had started going to a clinic and she was so worried she sent me to an obgyn and she even came with me bc she was so interested. then i had 5 ppl in the room staring at my crotch! then that dr flat out told me i couldn't have kids.. that's reeeeallly hard to hear at 17! btw i saw smone posted smthing about not wanting to tell their boyfriend.. I always told the guy asap.. cuz if thats a deal breaker i wanna know quick! then he sent me to birmingham, al to get more tests. that guy said smthing about dialators cuz i was worried about not being able to have sex. i got myself a dildo, and did the work myself. i have no cervix and a tiny vagina too. the first few times i tried sex... we couldn't get it in.. but using my lil helper later i did. it's humiliating trying to have sex! and you just literally can't! the problem was the tissue just needed to be pushed back. wasn't painful or anything. there's also smthing you can research called MRKH.. it will give you lots of insight and if anyone wants to chat you can find me on facebook, or just email me.. i would LOVE To talk to other ppl more often about this;)

Hello everyone....I'm 34 years old and I have been dealing with this since I was 17. At 17 I had laparoscopic surgery bc/ I had not developed and had not gotten my period. As a result, I was told that my reproductive system was intact - perfect - yet small, something called a "dwarf uterus". I had the estrogen levels of a newborn. I was immediately put on estrogen therapy/pills. At 23 I decided to stop taking the medication - I had developed (breasts, etc) and was satisfied with the physical results. No period in sight. At 30, my OBGYN put me on birth control to see if my body would react to estrogen. Boy did it ever. I had a period for 2-months - 60 days straight. I decided to quit birth control and the 'period' stopped. Since then, I've had 'spotting' here and there, but that's it. At 34, I still have the estrogen levels of a newborn. I plan to visit a fertility clinic in the not too distant future.

It's heartbreaking when you have to explain to OBGYN after OBGYN after OBGYN your history. They've never met anyone like 'me' before. Worse, they don't know what to say or do. It's so nice to know that I'm not alone.

Wow. So much support i feel from reading all of your storys.. Now i guess ill share mine!

Im currenty 18.5 years old and I don't have a period. I went to doctors about it (when i was like 15 or so) and was given a 3 months supply of birth control. At the time i was not sexually active. I took the pills for 3 months and got 3 periods, the first lasting 2 weeks, the second lasting 8 days, the third lasting 5 or 6 days. Then we lost our insurents & i couldn't go back to get more pills. Subsequently i have not had a period since. I have had times of lite spotting type bleeding. Only really when i wiped after using the bathroom(sorry if thats tmi lol). But those times are very few & far between. I want nothing more then to be a mother someday, im amazing with children and its just the life i want. Unfortunately I still don't have insurence so i can't go to the dr about it, so if anyone has any advice on the situation i would greatly appriciate it! Thanks for your time in reading my post! I look forward to reading yours as well!

Hi there,

I am only 19 and I, too have never started my menstruation cycle. I went digging through my family history, and my cousin (39) has also never had a period. I have had ultrasounds, hormone tests, pregnancy tests (by the id**t doctors lol), and CT scans. I am squeaky clean, and my reproductive organs are perfectly in-tune; so the question remains... Why hasn't it started?

Well, I went to visit one of the top- gynecologists in California. It had to have been the most intriguing doctors visit of my life, because she was at a loss of words for a while. Apparently there are not too many cases of this happening around the world. After a few seconds of puzzling gazes, she explained that it may be due to a hypothalamic disorder (messing with the communications of the hormone-producing, and hormone-releasing parts of the brain).

Missing a period is nothing to worry about, but make sure you consult a doctor (do not rely solely on my word). My mom explained to me that if there is a god, he must just love us a little bit more, by making us suffer from confusion rather than the pain and b*tchiness that comes along with PMS.

Do not worry about having kids. If you want them, you can have an in vitro placement. Also, do not have unprotected, because (even though the chance is small), you still may randomly begin ovulating.

I hope I was able to help you, I have had to figure all of this out on my own; so anyway I can help others, I am glad to :).

Hi Girls. I'm 27 years old and have NEVER had a menstrual cycle either. I hate doctors, they scare me, I refuse to go to one unless I feel like I'm dying (aside from hating doctors, I also really can't afford it.) but I DID break down 4 years ago and go to a free clinic in the area. My original intent was to go to look into starting birth control pills, on count that I'd never had a menstrual, the woman refused to give me any and referred me to another clinic out of our area. I never went. It doesn't really bother me, I was never a woman who really wanted children of my own, but there is a part of me inside that would like to know WHY. I assume I just have an extreme hormonal imbalance. No one else has mentioned it here, but I also have a fair amount of extra hair growth. I wax it, so it goes unnoticed by others except for myself ... that's the only bad thing about the situation. I may check into going back at some point in time, but at the moment I just have no interest. Perhaps if the hubby ever changes his mind about wanting to have kids. Right now we're pretty content with the way things are. I hope you all find some answers; I tried google. So far, no luck ;)

I am 33 yrs old and I never got my menstraul cycle.  When I was 18 yrs old I went to a doctor and they gave me birth control and I have been off and on ever since.  If I don't take the pill I don't get my period.  I had a procedure in my 20's to remove ovarian cyst but as per doctors that was not the cause of me not getting my period.  Every doctor I would see would just say that I needed to loose weight and that's it nothing else.  My last doctor told me that sometimes there isn't any answer because sometimes doctors just simply don't know what is wrong.  I have had vaginal ultrasounds and blood test, hormone test and they say everything is normal.  The doctor told me that as long as I took the pill at least once a year and had a period it would be ok not to worry to much about it.  I worry becasue I am at the age were I want to have children and I know that it will be difficult with all this problems.  He gave me hope and told me that I was able to get pregnanat because just because I didn't get a period did not mean I was infertile.  He told me that if I ever wanted to get pregnant I would have to start some fertility treatments because I would need help and could not do it on my own.

Unfortunately I don't have insurance at this time so I can't start those treatments but I am not giving up hope and hopefully I will be able to get pregnant with medical help.  I am happy to hear that I am not alone because everyone I know doesn't have this types of problems and I feel I am not normal. :(
