Hello Gentlemen, I beleive that the pain that you may be eperiencing (Myself included) Is an umbilical Hernia. For those of you with a pirsistant, daily pain; I would recommend seeking out a Doctor who specializes in Hernias. I hope I have helped some of you find closure to this dibilltating disorder; I myself know exactly what you are going through. please let me know if I have helped.
i am having the same symptoms (pain that seems to be connectected to penis tip, behind naval and ). i have been to a urologist and had a cystoscopy done to rule out cancer, stones and infection. Cystoscopy is a scope through penis, urethrea and into the bladder. i had none of the above problems and urologist is at a loss for an explanation. what i have noticed lately is that the problem comes and goes at the same time as i have sciatic nerve pain (any pain from lower back through buttock down back of leg to toes, also can be numbness or a burning sensation in theese areas) , i get numb toes and slight pain in upper leg. to make a long story short some of you could consider a lower back problem as this is where the nerves for this area come from. it is not likely that the problem is in multiple places (penis ,naval, and anus), but all of theese nerves are connected. i was diagnosed with a slightly herniated disk 15 years ago at which time it was causing pain in one testicle which the doctors were surprised to hear that my back pain and testicle pain happened within days of each other (i would go snowmobiling , cause my back to flare up and a few days later my nut would hurt). i have since quit snowmobiling and the problem doesnt happen anymore. I do run now and i think that the running may be bothering my back, my back doesnt hurt but the damaged to the disk could be aggravating the nerves both sciatic and the one to my privates, both nerves leave the spine at the same area. I have found that if i do exercises that are know to releive sciatica the other pain in the penis area goes away immediatly. lifting the foot that is hurting and placing it on the other knee works while i am driving. heating the lower back also removes the pain. this may help those of you that have a more consistent problem. if it only happens to you once or twice a year for a few minutes it probably not your back, but in my case it does seem to be something aggrivating the nerve, not the whole area. by the way i had no kydney stones.
Just to be clear, it's RIGHT BEHIND the belly button. You'd swear it IS your belly button hurting, not your abdomen or stomach.
27/M/175 I've had this pain for quite some time and have had some say that it was nothing and than one say that it was an umbilical hernia. I went through the surgery a few years ago but I still come across this pain a few times a year, so I don't know what it could be really.
Hey guys. I am experiencing this at the very moment (hence my google search that led to this thread!)
I am a 21 y.o. female (with an innie belly button)
I have been experiencing this about 6 times a year (give or take) since I was maybe 15 y.o. The sensation is just as most have described: The pain shoots from my belly button to my urethra/vaginal area as if they are connected. It is excruciating! It hurts the most to stand/sit up straight and the fetal position relieves the pain (although it probably prolongs the effects). There is no other pain in my abdomen, only at the site around my umbilicus. If I touch/press on areas around it, the pain begins to shoot from the belly button and not the area that I touch (which makes it difficult and very painful to attempt massaging or stretching the pain away).
I would like to mention that this occurs randomly (although any time I or someone else touches my belly button I do get the same sensation but only VERY slightly), but will recount my day's events that could have possibly led up to the pain. Perhaps others have something in common:
Yesterday, I went to the gym and did cardio and some strength training (that did involve some ab work). I have been doing this regularly for at least a month and no "attacks" until today. I always try to drink a lot of water but still probably don't drink as much as I should, so I could have possibly been dehydrated. I ate dinner maybe 2 hours after the gym and then went over to a friend's house to watch a movie. There, around 11:00pm, we drank enough alcohol to feel its effects. I always drink water when drinking to help stay hydrated. I went to bed around 1:30am and then woke up at 7:30am to go home. I woke up with an urge to pee, but her bathroom was occupied so I held it in until I got home. I then had breakfast which included a shot of espresso and a glass of OJ (so, caffeine and acidic beverage). Soon after I felt tired from the night and decided to take a nap. I slept in an almost-fetal position. I woke up having to pee again and when I stood up from my bed, BAM! Pain! I hunched over and walked to the bathroom to relieve myself, but urinating only hurts worse. I have now been hunched over reading this thread and have attempted to stretch out my abdomen with resulting shooting pain :(
*I have an innie belly button, am a healthy eater, in good health physically, have never had kidney stones (and don't experience any back pain), had a spastic bladder before teen years (which resulted in incontinence not pain), only started consuming alcohol within the past year, have never been nauseated or had a fever while experiencing an "attack"
35/M/246 Washington State....... Fine Fine Fine, I will post.
This has been going on for me thru-out the last 10+ years. And its not as bad as it used to be, but I have found ways to make life a little easier when this happens. I'm to the point now where I'm no longer laying on the floor begging for it to stop! There are no real answers to this. If there was then one of the many people who have seen doctors and had all the tests done would have an answer by now! I have not had any test ran on me, but I did talk to my doctor about it once and he had no clue... He said "that's an entirely different appointment".. I was pissed.. I had gone in for allergies and asked about this. Never went back..
So here is what I have done, and the pain or threat of pain seems to be gone within a few min (at least the last years worth of events)
1) Don't let all your pee out. Leave a little in you. For me this pain seems to come about 10min. before i have to pee. I ether let half out or nothing at all. Once I feel the pain start I know not to let everything out when I do go!
2) When you first feel it coming on STOP moving around. Sit down and bend over. Don't push it, don't test it! I can remember times when I was still trying to figure out what was going on and trying different moves or stretches or whatever and WOW this can hurt worse then anyone knows but US!!!! I have hidden this while at work for years, and I simply stay at my desk and bend forward a little. Dont flex, dont do anything
I did read in a post (not sure if its this thread or not) but one guy asked a question that no one wanted to touch... He asked if anyone having this trouble ever thought they had been abducted in the past.. I would like to pose the same question???? I know, I know, some may think we are crazy,,, but its a legitimate question so don't talk trash. We are here for an answer, not to be bashed. I figure If I'm only the second person to post this, then there is nothing to it.. But I also know that no one tells there story in fear of ridicule..
This is exactly what I've been experiencing for 29 years. And this "infected scar tissue from the bottom of my belly button to my abdominal wall they cut it out" is exactly what my doctor said. I was 19 and I was bent over for a month with this intense belly button to penis pain. After the same surgery to "remove remnants of the umbilical cord from the underlying muscle that it had grown entangled with" in the words of the surgeon, the pain was gone. I was so releived. However, once in a while when I got very hot and very sweaty and if I took too fast of a cool down period, it would come back. Much milder though. Now that I am 50 I get it more frequently after I had my appendix removed. They used 3 small incicisions. One right on top of my old navel scar where the doctor opened my navel up when I was 19. I remember the doctor telling me that it was likely that it would come back as I aged because for whatever reason the cord, which normally disintegrates after its cut from the mother, does not always completely disappear. So while he cut out what he could find, its impossible to find it all and cut it all out. After 29 years of mostly paib free, I am going back to the doctor to see it more surgery is indicated.
I've just had my appendix removed. When I was in hospital having my pain investigated ( from the appendix area) I believe my appendix ruptured. Pain was offf the scale. The appendix was subsequently removed but I'm still baffled why I felt all the pain in the areas you have described which lasted long after the initial tidal wave. I hope that me saying this might steer you in the right direction. Good luck,
B
