allergic to most antibiotics

Hi, I am allergic to most antibiotics, so when I get an infection it’s almost impossible to get a medicine for me. Even when I get a safe antibiotic, I always take it with fear of having allergy or side effects. Is there any other option for me, except antibiotics?

I to am allergic to all forms of antibiotics. When I developed a UTI I went to the emergency room. the ER Doctor called our local poison control center and they recommended (Monurol) 1 dose. It worked like a charm with no averse effects.
WoW!! I'm now allergic to a Tetracycline drug. After one pill I started having tremors with chills and body aches along with panic attacks, headaches, and my brain was wierd. Then after 2nd pill i realized it was this freakin drug called Doxycycline 100mg. I stopped it immediately! Then started getting hives for over 6 days now. I now am allergic to every antibiotic! Yes it's very scary, but the Man above made us that way. We must be very special! But in the same breath very difficult to deal with.

It was good to see that the ER doctor went the extra mile to consult with a poison control center. The ER here would have just sent me home/ my daughter rather and recommend here and there. They are USELESS in BROOKLYN, NEW YORK. Over here, you have to be your own DOCTOR or you will be in trouble. / Good to see everyone list names of meds that are recommended. I understand that NOT everyone can takes these meds but it is supportive. Lets keep this coming!
My daughter is in the same situation as you are. what do you do? I am soo frustrated!
I have had osteomyelitis as well in my back. Unfortunately being allergic to everything is hard. They tried clindomycin for me and after the third dose I was short of breathe and developed hives. They switched me to Zyvox and I ended up with stroke like symptoms. I was able to tolerate for awhile vancomycin but they had me on prednisone and Benadryl with it to try to prevent an allergic reaction. I did fin a site through google but I don't remember what it was for staph infections and they talked about garlic. Eating it making a paste with it. I spent a few mths eating garlic in my foods not sure if it really helped. I jut worry because I get bacterial infections so much right now all I can take is avelox or cipro. If someone doesn't come up with something soon I'm not sure what I will be able to take when thu dont work.
i have had this issue for many years and it is getting worse every year. i have this problem with all meds not just antibiotics. i have been to multiple drs including mayo clinic. .no one can help. symptoms r severe difficulty breathing, swelling and blistering of lips and gums. will kill me if i dont find help. have u found anyone to help u??
I was questioning WHY ME? WHY ME? WHY ONLY ME?!!!!!!! However from this post there are many unlucky people just like me.
I am facing a chronic Throat infection from past 1 year and I am afraid to take any antibiotics, I am depressed, I have nowhere to go, I have lost hope, I am afraid that I might call the “I QUIT” word. My Family is my only support, I am able to push this one year only because of them. I am still young not yet married.
Please post back if anybody finds a new breakthrough in treating infections. All I can see in this post is only questions and no answers.
I pray to GOD to us strength and guidance to raise you up from this difficulty.
dear guest..quitting isnt an option. not for me and not for u. drs have tild me how bleak this is. every infection has been difficult and wvery surgery has been horrible. but eveeytime i think this is it for me...the Lord brings me theough. u need to remember...no matter what the drs tell us here, we have a God of HOPE and He will do what the drs hwre cant. we have ti take evwry day in faith and KNOW that He will get us through. He has takeb care of this problem in me for the past 20 years and i KNOW Hes not about to stop now. never lose HOPE NEVER
I just got sick two days ago with a bad sore throat and tried to stay calm since I know about all the antibiotics I'm now allergic to. So as you said........................I pray constantly that God and my angels heal me and keep me well. I have found that some doctors think we are lying about such a serious condition. As for me...........it's hard to find a loving and compassionate doctor. Both doctors that I used to have were wonderful. Now one retired and one passed away. Even trying to find a med for my high blood pressure took me many trial and errors with them. When I stop and think back from when I was little suffering from Asthma, the docs tried so many drugs on me and finally one worked. No longer have asthma unless I get really sick. At the age of 16 I had mono and they gave me pencillin and I nearly wanted to die from the drug. As the yrs, progressed now in my 50's afraid of all antibiotics, antidepressants, hydrocortisone, and prednisone. I also believe that generic drugs are far worse than the non-generic. I've asked the pharmacists about generic drugs and they say they are the same, but I totally disagree. If I take a generic for my high blood pressure and not the brand one I get wheezing in my chest and I have to pay so much more for the real drug, but have no other option. Just remember don't do generic if you can afford the brand before trying other meds in the future. May the Good Lord Protect all of us because he created us in a very unique way, for a reason. Maybe to make doctors research more on this topic. Love and Blessings to all of us on this site!
I have multiple drug intolerances. I cannot tolerate any drugs, including hydrocortisone and all forms of thyroid medications that are on the market. I have developed severe, histamine-mediated headaches to every drug I have ever taken, usually within 1-3 days of starting a new drug.
I have done some research on drug intolerances and it seems that there are only a few researchers who are investigating this problem. Three professionals who might be able to help follow:
1) Mariana Castells, MD (Boston, Massachusetts; Harvard University)
2) Werner Pichler, MD (University of Bern, Switzerland)
3) Jack Uetrecht, PhD (University of Toronto)
Has anyone had a consultation with any of these people?
Never heard of them, but thanks for posting this information.
i will absolutely look these ppl up. thank you
i am so encouraged to find others who have the same problem. its terrifying to have this going on . its even worse when you are the only one going thru it with no one who can relate. is there any way to do a live chat on this site so we can try to help one another
