I know this is an old post here, but I just wanted to thank you guys for your information. Last night I had my fourth attack, and I could clearly tell it was going to be a big one. I came on the site, noticed the quantity of individuals who have relieved symptoms by laying on their left side, and tried it. I felt better almost IMMEDIATELY. For this type of pain, (I have been to the ER before because of this) immediate relief is something everyone seeks. THANK YOU!!!
Kratom oil as well is a gallbladder's very good friend. My trick too.
I've known three friends of mine that have had to have their gallstones removed during pregnacy. At different trimesters. My suggestion have them removed. P.s and mind you I'm talking about 30yrs ago.
I was having very bad pain for the second time in the last few months. I drank a 1/2 cup of lemon juice from the bottle, 2 Tylenol, and a hot shower till it turned cold. I went from a 10 I'm pain to a 2. I don't know which of the three worked and I don't care, all I know is my pain is gone. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. You are the best!!!
I have to watch what I eat and eat healthy all that is said to eat with gall bladder disease and I still get attacks very serve to say the least. I do not eat any fatty foods at all and no chocolate as that too is bad I was told by my doctor
...If they were short I wouldn't mind. Sunday's was 10 hours, and last nights was 5 hours +. I'm suppose to be going in for surgery soon, I hope!! It's been almost a year I've had them. I've lost 30 pounds, eat no fatty foods, lots of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies and they are worse now than ever.
I feel for anyone who suffers this.
It sounds crazy. But if I start feeling slight discomfort, I go to sleeping upright. If it persists I do a head stand! I swear it works. If the pain is reaaaaaallllly bad, just a head stand might not stop the pain but it relieves built up gas and pressure. I started noticing this with my yoga practice. If u can't do a headstand alone, use a wall in a hallway. Or log on to YouTube and find an easy five minute routine. Focusing on doing the poses distracts your body from the pain. My no. 2 natural defense is heating pad.
Last one is hot steaming shower or bath.
Sorry but no toradol does NOT have any pain killer in it!!
I have had gall stone attacks my whole life!! The best thing to do is lay on ur left side, then turn to your right then to your left then your back in a slight slant! They are soo bad ! I do not take pain pills because who knows how long the attack will last for! My longest has been 2 hours shortest 20 mins! They want to take my gallbladder because I have tons of stones! I tried the flush! No luck! Nothing helps it just takes time! But if it goes on for hours and hours an you notice a fever or intensity of pain go to er it could be lodged right and that is fatal! Gall bladder attacks can be deadly, but most of the time they pop back out! I'm lost my appendix 10 years ago ! I waited 3 days to go to the dr! I almost died! I will not take symptoms lightly anymore!! Has anyone passed a stone and saw it?
To your question on age, I first had these major pains when I was 24 yrs.old. I went to through almost all remedies (except removing my gallblader because I was scared about the constant trips to the toilet and all that). Back then (2001), I did a "stomach-flush" aproach by means I went on fasting for 12 hours with no food & mininal water only. After the fasting, I dranked about 3/4 of a cup filled with olive-oil, 50 freshly squeezed lemons and a teaspoon of salt.. Literally, the "flush" made my anal come out with all whats left in my stomach (its digusting if you know what I mean). This is in theory that 3 of my stones would come out of my system too. Apparently, only 1 came out after another ultrasound was conducted. And it somewhat have lessened the pain(s) & attacks.
Since then, I have strictly practiced a discipline diet (usual No or Very minimal oily, salty, dairy n high cholesterol) and it had been effective with also proper exercise like basketball, moderate jogging or any simple fat-burning activities, etc.
Its been 13 years since I last had those gallstone attacks and still I am almost balanced on my weight (Male, 5ft.-7'inch in height and weight 145 lbs.) Unfortunately, I have not been on a good diet for the past 4-6 months but exercise still maintained. For the past 2 weeks, my gallstone attacks have been stabbing me with pains again but lasting for only an hour or so. Unlike years back that it would last 2-3 hours.
I never had the pleasure of reading thru the internet for blogs etc. but here I am getting some additional tips and throwing one in because I had a very painful attack just an hour ago. I did a simple, lay on my leftside to ease and relax my back-muscles & importantly my gallblader.
Ive been typing this reply with my smartfon after reading all the inputs.. and trust me, it has diverted my attention from the pain that if my pain earlier was about 90%, its now only around 10% pain that Im feeling..
My bottom line of this response is to be strict & disciplined with your low-fat and low-cholesterol diet. Im now 36 yrs. old and I'm thinking about removing my gallblader because the pain is not only unforgetable but it has gotten realy bad. Maybe because as our body gets older, our digestive system gets slower that the oily/fatty intakes are not properly being dissolved. Hence, mr. Gallblader is almost feed-up with simple food intake mistake.
I am worried that another attack might happen again during the next big meal of an oily/fatty food.
Till then, I hope this had been able to help out a bit or atleast illustrate my experience of this pain that we all have suffered or that are still suffering from.
Be strong & just try to divert your thoughts from the pain and look for an effective & permanent solution.
Just had my first gallbladder attack and it was HORRIBLE! My chiropractor told me to drink 1/4 cup of Braggs apple cider vinegar (unpasturized) with some water...just down it and chase with more water. this took my pain from a 10 down to a 6 in about 10 minutes. then I sipped on ACV with water with a little sweetner for the rest of the day and by evening the pain was mostly gone, just discomfort left...I'm telling everyone I know so if they ever have that pain, they know how to quickly eleviate it....
Im 20 and 9months pregnant and for the past 5 months I've been having terrible gallbladder attacks almost every day, several times a day. Surgery is not an option for me atm but after my little girl is born it's coming out! I've been in the hospital 3 times already because those times its gotten so bad I've passed out from the pain and it just would not go away no matter what i did, but for all the other times i have certain things i do to make the pain go away rather quickly. The first thing i try is to soak in a really hot bath for about 30 minutes and that usually makes the pain at least tolerable, but if that doesn't help i have to make myself throw up until everything is out of my system and i know im finished when the pain just immediately goes away like magic... but lately all ive been able to eat are just plain baked potatoes because that's the only thing that doesn't trigger an attack, and for being pregnant its terrible :( But tonight i didn't want to throw up because it was starting to become painful on my throat and stomach, and i had just taken a shower a few hours ago so my Husband made me drink a cup of Pickle juice! (You have to drink it pretty fast too) But amazingly the pain stopped in about 5 minutes, i was so amazed!! Drinking a whole cup of pickle juice can seem like a bit much but trust me its so worth it once you're through with it. I hope this helps some of you suffering out, i know how terrible these pains are:(
I have been having severe attacks for ten+ years and swear by apple cider vinegar. Yes, it's foul smelling and tasting, but I just have one or more shot glass sizes STRAIGHT (Try to hold it in, guzzle clean water and maybe a panadol or 2 and ride out the pain. It kills, for sure, keep taking shots of ACV periodically until you hear gallbladder movement and the pain usually leaves within 15-30 mins. It's only a few bucks for a large bottle and is natural - so much better than expensive commercial antacids and Z2 receptors/prescriptions like Zantac etc. which I tried EVERYTHING. But remember, as another poster remarked, it's mostly hereditory, (but fatty foods like lamb, coffee mixed with any form of dairy are usually a no-go,) but we are ALL different. and have different reactions and solutions. But I promise I'm being very sincere when I say Apple cider vinegar is a winner!
Thank you all!! I use HEAT, ibuprofen, and a TENNIS BALL in a SOCK to apply PRESSURE to the back. Hold the top of the sock to place the ball over the pain. Trust me I feel your pain.
I'm 36 and have had two attacks now. The first time lasted for 9hrs and I went to after hours care. Where they gave me an injection to stop vomiting. The vomiting had become so violent that I wet myself and had burst all the blood vessels around the skin by my eyes. The worst pain I've ever felt in my life. That was over 6 weeks ago and the last one was a couple of days ago. I had been given pain killers and anti nausea the first attack so I took those as soon as I felt a twinge in my right hand side. This time it lasted 4 hours, was very uncomfortable I couldn't sit, stand or lay down for long. I tried heat and ice pack and think the ice pack helped more. I then had a shower as hot as I could and that helped my back so much. Once I was finished the pain was gone within half an hour. The first attack the soreness lasted days afterward. I had gallstones confirmed via scan and drs seem to all be the same just get your gallbladder removed. I'm not convinced yet, some side effects are awful... I'm scared every time I eat now.
