Agree, don't remove it, I had one mild attack of pancreatitis and gallbladder attack that the hospital thought was caused by passing a gall stone but everything pointed to a reaction to Immodium. A sonagram showed no gallbladder inflammation and possibly 1 or 2 small stones and yet, the GI surgeon came and said, oh yes, you've got to get that gallbladder out ASAP, to which I answered, For what ? NO WAY. I researched every natural remedy and what has kept me good is fresh squeezed lemon juice with a little extra virgin olive oil.. fresh lemon in cool commomile tea, ginger tea, peppermint tea and with the last attack about a year and a half ago, flax seed tea relieved the pain and bloating within 20 mins. You take 2 cups of water, and one tblspn of Flax seeds and boil them for 6 mins. Let steep on lowest heat for 9 minutes, pour in cup, it will be a little thick, but this makes it very soothing. Drink as much as you want, but at least a cup and it will relieve the attack.

Agree 100% don't remove it unless it is totally rotted and that's rare.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has left their tips here on how to manage their pain during an attack. This is the first place I have found any helpful advice and I could almost weep with gratitude. I was two months shy of going a year without an attack, but the other night I had an awful one, and I couldn't for the life of me get to sleep. It was almost four hours in when I took some of your advice and popped three ibuprofen, then hopped into the shower and let the hot water ease my back muscles. I probably spent a half hour in there, but by the time I got out the combo of pain pills and the hot shower had all but made any pain disappear. I lay down on my left side as some of you suggested and was finally able to get to sleep, no more pain. I've been meaning to get a new heating pad so I'll for sure be doing that. Has anyone tried IcyHot patches? I wonder if those would help similarly. In any case, I'm so thankful to finally have a course of action the next time I feel an attack coming on. Hang in there, fellow sufferers!

I thought I would control mine too with diet but it doesn't always work that way.

My sister completely changed her diet and was eating extremely healthy (for two months after her symptoms started) and she still had to have hers removed after her liver enzymes got very high.

I used a heating pad. It worked. Also a nice warm bath.

I'd rather have the diarrhea then this hell . And yes people who get chronic pancreatitis due to a bad gallbladder should get it taken out

I do not agree with "no super spicy peppers" or "avoid fatty foods" advice. IT DOES'T MAKE SENSE. The gall bladder gets the signal to contract the bile out into the ducts just when the food (WHATEVER THE FOOD) is ready to enter the small intestines from the stomach. So whatever problem is in the GB itself, is destined to happen no matter what you eat.

try mixing 1/2 cup apple juice, 1 capful apple cider vinegar and a bit of lemon juice (to take away the acidity) and drink that 2-3x/day...it really helps. If I have really bad pain, I add more apple cider vinegar to a bit more apple juice. This is almost a daily drink for me. Just started taking buscopan. I should have let them take my gallbladder out last time I was in ER in November 2015. Next time, it's coming out.

Laying down on your left size WITH a pillow under your left side really relived some back and abdominal pain

Did you do anything else to prevent the attacks besides tea? I have had about 15 attacks in a year, but don't want to have my gallbladder removed. I drink tea quite frequently.
