My pit bull is 13 he does have cancer and is epileptic but he's going strong still
My all american pitbull is 10yrs old and doing good. I had her since she were a baby. They are good dogs. I don't have her around visitors. Because of her protected instincts
Mine are very healthy but they eat a very good diet. Raw meat with natural veggie supplement, etc. and they get a lot of exercise. No vaccinations except the legally required rabies every few years. They have a holistic vet who checks their health, diet and lifestyle. They get tons of love from us and their other human friends. They are extremely friendly and kind, good hostesses but also protective when there is someone they don't know. They also have a silly streak! And as others have mentioned, they will lick you half to death. One has some lab mixed in, which should make her even more mellow, but she would definitely take action if she needed to. The one thing we were told when we adopted the first one was that pit bulls must have heavy exercise. If they don't, their health and morale will suffer. The few pits who go bad are often cooped up in a bare yard with no exercise and no affection. This cannot occur. My husband and I have gotten walkers to take them on vigorous hikes in the hills. They are very strong, so need to be trained not to pull the human, and need someone who is physically sturdy to exercise them. Their weight is not a problem, as we slightly increase or decrease their chow according to how they look, so their figures are always good! They are fabulous companions for anyone who will treat them right.
My pitbull Bentley Anne is 16 going on 17. Although a great judge of character she won never harm a human trying to burglarize my house. If a person trying to commit a crime is comfortable with dogs they can easily weasel their way past the "big bad dog" if you are only considering owning this breed for protection purposes please reconsider and do some research. Get a security system instead. In the long run it will cost a lot less money, be more reliable and a hell of a lot less of a responsibility.
My girl is 13 still eating A LOT , goes outside to use bathroom, but really sleeping allot. I'm beginning to be worried. I have other dogs all live inside with me. Sleep in my bed. My girl, has breast cancer, few years ago spent 3 grand for a hysterectomiy , some f uteras infection.. In her life nursed 2 kittens at different times cleaned them everything. I'm losing my best v friend slowly. I pray i have years to come with her. What's longest life of red nose pit?

Thank you... I'm very happy to hear your friend is well!!!! My girl rivers is pretty active today. I got a pup several weeks ago. It's agrivates the hell out of her at times but I catch her playing with her new pup at times. It makes me so happy to see her acting like a young girl!!! We're are both starting to get a few years on us lol but the new babe seems to liven things up!!! Ifi only had the pups energy!!! Wow!! Anyway another day with my girl. I'm so grateful!!! Thank you for making me feel better your pit bull is 18yrs old I been having anxiety my boy will turn 11 in October and I can't imagine the house without him.
I own a 9yr old APBT rednose. Since 8 wks old(I bought her w/papers). When I brought her home my wife became fearful "why did you buy such a dangerous dog?" 2 days later she was out buying leashes, collars & toys. She was so cute & still is a beautiful dog but as you pointed out she wouldn't make for a guard dog bc she loves people too much & doesn't much care for other dogs. She once caught a squirrel & only tried to play with it. When she saw me approaching she stopped and allowed the animal to escape up a tree. So many people believe the myth about Pitbulls being dangerous. And it's just that; A Myth thanks to people like Mike Vick, drug dealers & gang members who use the dogs for status. Vick made money, the dealers for protection. Some people go out of their way to make the dog mean & vicious by abusing them. But all said & done Pitbulls are by far the best dogs in my opinion. Loyal, trusting & extremely friendly. However as a guard dog, mine anyway, would sit & allow a burglar free reign of my house & property, even help if she could! But that's not why I got her.....
Our girl is 14 and 2 months. I have always cooked her meals...never gave her canned dog food. Lots of love and never yell at them or in front of them They are really big babies. Love and understanding and regular visits to the vet...for rx for heartworm and shot for rabies. Once a year does it. Loving, loyal and faithful. All they want is love. LL&Baby
Lol my girl is like that too if you'll throw the ball for show love you forever but you steal all my stuff as long as you're throwing the ball for her
