I've been to a few doctors about it.  they say that there's no cure and to just keep the area clean.  i tried using deodorant to prevent sweating, and it helps a bit, but it doesnt stop it.  a doctor told me to try cleaning after exercising (which isn't always possible...since just walking around the block sometimes causes it).  anyway, if anyone has any answers, that'd be great.

i have been getting a boil like thing on my left thigh about 3 inches down from my groin. I have been getting it since I was sixteen, I'm now nineteen, it never bothered me too much but now it is becoming more and more frequent... I walk alot at work and it rubs and becomes very painful, it's difficult to pop. I've tried using baby powder to lessen the friction but it only helps for half an hour or so... I'm quite embarrassed about it and is a challenge to bring myself to get intimate with girls... If someone can find a good way to get rid of this, I would love to know how...

I had on in my arm pit. It hurt like crazy and had my wife pop it (the pain made me cry a bit) then I put a band aid on and after like 3 days it was almost gone. After a week it wasn't there. That happened about 6 months ago. Recently I got it on my inner thigh and asked my friend what it might be. I showed him and he said its cuz I am fat or getting fat. Today I found another on on my other inner thigh. I just want to know if I should be worried or if I should just lose weight. Yes I would say I am over weight (312 lbs) and not the healthiest person out there. I would go see a doctor but I have no insurance.

I have honestly had these on my inner thighs off and on since high school and the drs always told me it was because I played sports, blah blah blah...well now at 31 I'm still getting them, but a lot less frequently and I'm not playing sports so perhaps they were right.  Any way, I've just dealt with them and the best way I've found to "pop" them is to straighten out my leg and put a band aid (the least stickiest kind possible given the region) and just go about my day.  The band aid helps with the pain because it's not rubbing on anything and honestly throughout your day it will just start seeping on it's own and luckily the bandaid is there to stop it.

That's my two cents on the subject...good luck ladies

lol what happened to that woman that said she "fully intended" to get this checked out and report back??

i have this issue too, i think it is caused by clogged pores. i used to get small pimple-like bumps in between my thighs + backside, and i started using a cleanser w/ salicylic acid in the shower - took right care of them! unfortunately i think this is a resistant sort of issue for me, because since i started biking heavily in the past two years, i have started to get them in between my labia and inner thighs, and they are MUCH bigger, close to the size of a dime. the only thing that gives me relief is popping them (don't f**k with dirty needles or pins! use HOT TEA BAGS!!) and applying antibacterial ointment right after.

I get these too, yes I am overweight, and I have also gone to the doctor about it.  He wrote me a script for antibiotics that didn't do anything well enough - it only helped a little.  I should have gone back for more but my schedual simply doesn't permit it.  I try using an acne cleanser on them and it doesn't seem to do too much to help either, though due to the sensitive groin area I am weary about getting the harsh chemical cleansers too close to my vagina - burny! I am incredibly embarrassed about them and they leave terrible scars on my legs and under arms.  One thing I can tell you is to STOP POPPING THEM!! Popping them causes scarring that leaves these nasty looking dark spots that take foreeeeeeeever to go away.  Not to mention when the blood/pus drains, it makes contact with your skin and spreads the bacteria, making the problem way worse - just like facial acne.  I recommend antibiotics, gentle exfoliation in the shower and an antibacterial cleanser in the shower.  And don't forget to let the areas breathe at night.  You know what that means.  Sleepin' in the nude!

People, calm down! My mother is a nurse and had one of these on her thigh years ago when she was overweight. I saw her lancing it, draining it, and dressing it. It's just from friction, that's all! The arm an area rubs with tight clothing, or just skin on skin, you are likely to develop one. If you don't feel comfortable draining it yourself, go to the doctor.

I really can't believe this is something that has so many baffled. I just lanced one on my thigh tonight, caused from my workout.

Ok, so this happens more often to those of heavier builds, I'm about 260-270 on average. [My weight fluctuates at that range reguardless of my routine.] Now I haven't been getting these for a long time, but lately, it's started up. But ONLY on the LEFT inner thigh. They were small at first... but this last one I got and found tonight was HUGE.

It just seems like a blood blister, theres no puss, or anything, and it doesn't have that "puss" smell when ruptured. So I doubt it's an infection. The bleeding in these few that I have gotten recently is all DARKDARKDARK red. Like ink... And all but this last one I've needed to rupture with a knife. But only this last one bleed out on its own... [swear you would have thought someone stabbed me through an artery or something. lol.]

Anyway, as I am about as poor as they come without being homeless, and I've been there before, a doc is outta the question. But my self treatments never failed me so far. Considering I am, and others have admitted, they are a bit big, I can guess your inner thighs chafe during the day, or rub together at least. Not normally a problem right? Well I find that Boxer Briefs help in this situation.

Normal Boxers are often loose around the crotch, fantastic for air flow, but allows the thighs to rub, tightie whities [your standard briefs] are no better, and may actually worsten nthings if you tend to sweat. Boxer briefs cut it at half way, the short legs of them if you got the right size, should rise up about to the point of where the thighs [at least on me] would normally chafe. With the fabric in the way the chafing is reduced drastically. Just make sure to get them in a good brand, so they are comfortable and they breath. [cheepo brands will chafe like hell on their own]

Baby powder can help... if you have the time to apply it before an extended walk or something I guess, an Antipersprint helps, just make sure to shower off at the end of the afternoon to get that stuff off the skin. [And yes guys I said antipersprint, not deodorant. Theres a difference, and in this case we aren't trying to reduce bad oder we are trying to reduce SWEATING AND CHAFING. Deodorant doesnt help that... you might as well hang a little car air freshener off the family jewls for all the good it would do you.

I would say to all of you that you have probably got hidradenitis suppurativa, I have had this for 20+ years and all your symptoms are exactly like mine. Antiobiotics do help in the early stages of this condition, bit they dont work as well when the condition progresses. Unfortunately I now take painkillers to help me function ona day to day basis together with antibiotics, but dr has said just have to put up with it, as they dont recommend excision surgery anymore, it can cause too many other problems!

Yeah it is nothing major. Just pop it and take a nice shower to make sure the area is clean. Even trying to rinse out the infected area.

Hey yeah, if you're visiting this page right now, with a medium or normal sized boil of some sort on your skin, its NORMAL. Its either due to friction and the building up of heat. Its the bodies way to combat heat. The boil normally appears on places that are under a lot of pressure or places that are constantly getting rubbed. The best way to get rid of these boils is to take an empty wine bottle or liquor bottle and pour boiling water inside, then a few seconds later empty it and place the bottle mouth over the boil. Pour cold water over the bottle and the blood/puss will come out easily with a little pain. Its quick and clean as all the blood/puss flow into the bottle. After the blood/puss has been taken out, clean the popped boil with soap and water.  :-)

I get these things aswell im guessing it has something to do with the staf becasue when i was 9 i had a hernia operation and durng my recovery in hospital i contracted the golden staf so what everyone is saying is theseare normal and i cant get rid of them? thats a bummer they are really annoying i get them in between my thighs which are annoying but bareable but the one that is really annoying is i get a big one the size of a 50 cent peice under my arm pit and that is preety sensitive and i can never burst that one as it never comes right to the surface of the skin.

All of your symptoms sound like mine. I have sores that shoot out dark thick blood (EWW) and I have had a bartholin cyst...(Oww) and yes I am overweight. But I always thought I had it because I have a disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that effects the collagen in the skin. I've also lanced my own in the past and my hubbie says I was icky and weird for doing it, now i feel better knowing im not the only one
