" My clicking is totally random. sounds like an electric spark in ear." That describes what I've been having for the past few years to a "T" - slightly more apt description than the clicking. But either one would get it. Mine only clicks about 7 or 8 times all at once then not again for several hours or maybe even a few days. I decided that when I was in the ICU with pneumonia, that the government had come in and marked me. lol It's not painful and it doesn't really bother me, I just notice it and wonder what causes it. I think it's just in my right ear, can't remember for sure. That tells you how much it bothers me.

I have had the dreaded ear click for approx 6yrs.  Had my hearing checked and was fine.  I hear the clicks only when lying down, and only in my left ear.  A slow steady short click that is continuous.  Extremely annoying.  Saw an ENT and he stated it was coming from muscles in my middle ear...no biggie.  I tried Benadryl to be able to sleep.  This helped for about a year.  I then went to my primary doctor with the complaint of insomnia and he prescribed Elavil.  This has helped so much.  Basically I just sleep thru the annoying click.  I hate that I am resorting to a script med, but I tried everything.  Herbal vitamins for ears, special pillows fo elevate my head, congestion meds, melatonin...  Today I am going to see a physiatrist because I am now having multiple muscle problems thru out my body.  I am going to bring this ear thing up to him.  This might be all related

Mine sounds like electric spark as well. Thought my tv was going out but then I heard it in the other room. It is the same sound as a boaring pine weevil
(a big). Doctor said nothing in the ear. Waiting to see if it continues.

I am experiencing the same symptoms you have. My left ear clicks when I am walking, jumping, or when I hear loud noises. It's annoying! It just started last week and I have not seen a doctor yet.

I too am suffering every now and then but have just decided to Google what people are saying about it. Someone said that it could be muscle spasm so I massaged my head briefly over my right ear and it made an amazing difference. Worth a try.....

Lead decaying sounds like; da dit dit da da, dit dit. may explain this very weird lack of information on the clicking as California just passed laws banning lead shot at game. The country birds sing this secret knock sometimes too. All The city ones sing car alarms now. Squatches woodknocking the secret knock very loudly too. Poor guys. Don't shoot lead anymore shooters. Please

Hi this is a total long shot as this group seems to be a few months old but I have the same thing!! I don't have clicking when I'm not moving but as soon as I get to a steady walking or running pace I get this click click click, it has been going on for about 4 months and after being sent from my doctors to dentists I'm back to square one as neither has helped! I definitely feel something different in my right ear and think a slight ear infection may have caused it but it just won't go away and I cannot enjoy walking or doing any other form of exercise which is really affecting my life!

I have had this since 2012 my ENT DR. has never told me anything always wants to put me on meds for what? decided I was wasting my time and money with him. Lost faith in the Dr. I have a problem and they have no idea what is wrong. I guess that is why they call it a practice they don't know either

I have now been referred to ent doctor but my own gp just looked at me at a total loss when I was explaining it to her. The clicking feel like a small tendon or vessel that is moving up and down whe I make a steady paced movement, also going upstairs and exercising etc. Its really getting me down and starting to think this could be something il have to deal with forever! Thank ful it doesn't click when I lay down but really not enjoying not being able to exercise and walk as much as I used to.

Hi I have recently having this clicking in my left ear. I have got myoclonic epilepsy which means your muscles jerk uncontrollably whenever it wants and my neurologist told me the clicking sound is incontrollable muscle spasms just like myoclonic epilepsy. Luckily the clicking isn't too loud or last very long so luckily I can carry on as normal.

I believe this called palatial myoclnus or it's the tampini muscles in spasms. My started out if nowhere but my left Etube has been hurting lately for over compensating for my right ear which is blocked up due to TMJ and ETD.. So whenever I burp or yawn, my left Etube stretches while my right does nothing. I have to blow a lot of air into my right Etube to get it to open but it just shuts again. Anyway, I'm sure the clicking sound I got this morning was from a stressed tube and the muscles around it in spasms. Use muscle relaxers, ibuprophen and magnesium and ice packs if you have TMJ. You can also get these muscles cut in the ear if it is constant.

I don't know if you'll read this, but your post is exactly like reading my own symptoms! Have you found out what it is? And has it gone away, did anything work for you? My ENT says it's Tensor Tympani Syndrome (but when I read about people who have that, they hear more of a flutter), but it has nothing to do with loud sounds as TTS most often has. I get it randomly, worse when I sit in some positions or lye down on my right side. I have recently seen a dentist who thinks I have TMD/TMJ and he will try to help me (so I'll spend everything I own and loan on that...) by regulating my jaw through specialized and long treatment. I'm desperate - have had it on/off for more than a year. When it is there I also have a lot of pain in my jar, shoulder and plenty of headaches.

I hate doctors! When I left my ENT's office he said good luck! Basically told me there was nothing he could do for me. I have an inner ear problem and tinnitus and hearing loss in one ear. I am used to the constant buzzing but once it awhile it clicks, I call it my typewriter ear and I also get crispy sounds which I call my rice crispy ear.

I'm from Ireland, and lately being travelling, last year, and this year I went to France and lost my voice and now this. I went to England for a weekend. Came home . Straight away a cold came on. Then feeling chesty (also have asthma) now fluid in my ear is starting to come out of my ear which is making this noise. All because I had a cold. Thank you
