I had my reversal surgery set 22 , 2017 and all went well . My surgery would have been only a hour and a half but they took out scar tissue from a surgery I had in 1983 . The surgery was six hours and I actually woke up without my teeth rattling . I don't like anesthesia either and have had three surgerys this year. Talk to your anesthesiologist and tell him your fears . I did and he helped me . Good luck and have no fear .

I had the exact same thing happen 8 weeks ago. My reversal surgery will be in January. Did u have any problems with gas or stomach issues before the reversal surgery. I am watching what I eat very closely. Doctors told.me I could eat anything after the surgery just more fibre. I definitely can't eat anything.

I am a nurse NGTube are placed for decompression and are very uncomfortable when being placed or in place. Your husband needs a lot of support to progress. He has to be active. Address pain or depression.

My husband had a reversal after having the bag for six months stay in hospital for 5 days pulled the drain tubs out and sent him home after pulling the tubes seem to set him back acouple days was home in pain 4 day decided to eat real food had BBQ light sauce was fine all day the next morning was so sick couldn’t stop going to the bathroom to poop now 2 days later still sick going to the bathroom a lot says he is freezing and has a low grade temp .. not really sure if I can talk him into going back to the hospital . I think after having issues pulling out the drain tubes they should have did a cat scan to make sure he was fine before sending him home ..

exactly the same happened to me, I was 40 would get upset tummy but always put it off as one NY girls brought a bug home from school. 6:30 a.m. I'm up getting my youngest ready for school I'm feeling a bit nauseous but no biggie at 7 I feel pressure, I'd rather give birth without meds. then I hear pop pop and pressure spread from my hoohoo all the way under my breast and I looked about 7 months pregnant. surgeon says if I waited any longer he would try but most likely I die on the table . colostomy for 4 months then reversal. everything was fine, now 5 years later I have to take something to help me go poop. kinda want my bag back LoL

I also had an emergency colostomy. I was in the hospital for 8 days. It took quite a while before I started to getting my energy back. My Dr. told me to wait 6 months for the reversal. Do to moving it was 10 months before my reversal. She wanted me to start walking to build up my strength and to try to loose weight. A month before my surgery I also gave up any sugar. I'm just 4 weeks into my recovery. I was out of the hospital on the 4th day. I'm doing a lot better this time around.

My husband had a perforated colon in March of '18 due to a diverticulitis attack....which he had never had before.  Ended up having emergency surgery  with a colostomy as a result, and in the hospital for 12 days because of set backs.  Took over a month to get his strength back.  Because of scheduling and things my husband wanted to see and help with, he did not have reversal until September of '18.  He had so many adhesions that lap surgery was not successful so they had to open him back up.  Ended up with close to 30 staples.  He was only in the hospital for 3 days.  We had read where it normally took 2-3 months for everything to start working normal again and was prepared for that.  Between his first surgery and the second we had read about pelvic floor exercises which he did between the two surgeries.  Surprising in less than two weeks after his reversal, he had no pain and things were functioning like they were before his first surgery.  Less than two weeks following reversal he was walking a mile a day.  He did start eating small meals and tries to eat something five times a day.  No weight gain.
