So I'm eighteen, and I still want to grow(I'm 6' by the way) is it still possible? I just started weightlifting about 6 weeks ago and already benching around 130-140, including the bar. Is that too fast to lift so much? Would stretching help me reach my maximum, expected growth which is I think 6' 3"? I've noticed my back will tremble while I do shoulder press when I first started that, but not much anymore, just when I'm on my last reps of a set. I like to push myself, but should I slow it down?

there are certain sports that lifting weights will help greatly, like maybe wrestling or football. But if you play a sport that cares about height, like me (basketball), then you'd want to be careful. And if you do play basketball, i don't see the point in lifting heavy weights. I think that pushups pullups and crunches and weightless squats are quite enough. although I do plan to increase my vert by squatting though. you just see too many ripped short dudes, man. You can't really tell if they are short because they lift or if they knew they would be short and so decided to bulk up
iv been lifting for about a year and im just fine
maybe you would have been 6' 5" who knows?
im 14 years old and im 5.3ft im not the biggest of people but i have been doing weights on and off since i was 13 my parents have been noticing that i am growing quite rapidly i am looking to build up my physic by drinking protien shakes and doing resonably weights for 20minutes 3 days a week would this stunt my growth?
thanks for the help=)
It may concentrate the energy for to grow into energy to build muscle instead.
i started working out when i was in 3rd grade i think thts 8 yrs old. im 5'6 and 13 going to be 14 in november. since i play football, i dont want to be short because the position i play (middle line backer) is for tall people. i have a tall dad hes 6'0 and my mom is 5'1. i dont think working out stunts your growth if ur like 13, 14+ because most people in the NFL played highschool nd sometimes peewee football. im pretty strong nd i want to lose weight but im scared of stunting my growth, and i also want to be in shape b4 highschool so i dont die on the football field. i just stretch alot.
Lifting weights can only make you grow, not shrink. The activity causes the body to release growth hormone and testosterone. If you are not done growing then these hormones will not only cause muscle growth but bone growth. However, in the end, your height will be determined by genetics and diet (malnutrition will definitely stunt growth). Diet usually is not a problem in the U.S. Bottom line is lift till your hearts content and enjoy the results.
Guys it isnt a show off who was lifting more at young ages and we all dont want to know you life stories!
If you have correct form, there is no disadvantage in weight lifting. However, incorrect form can affect your growth plates, therefore stunting your growth.
this means nothing different ginetics
I have a friend who is 4 8" and 14. Consider the fact that height runs in peoples genes.
im 14 years old and i have been weightlifting at the age of 12.. my height is 6.3 feet. i lift 45 kilo for biceps and 50 kilo fo triceps. i lift 45 kilo for chest and 60 kilo for four arms.
