I've been getting this off and on for about 10 years now. Most recently I tried Tinactin Athlete's Foot Cream, and that seemed to work. However, it could just have been good timing -- maybe the flareup was about to fade just as I started the treatment. I'll know for sure next time.

This occurs to me as well and it starts on the side of my fingernail and work its way up to the WHOLE finger. I've tried every lotion but nothing seems to work, now i'm scared it might be caused by something serious.

I had the same problem with dry, peeling, and cracking hands and it seemed to be seasonal and happened a couple of times over the year. I tried everything from Eucerin, Cetaphil, natural lotions, anti-fungal creams, and all types of my wife's lotions and NOTHING WORKED! It WAS very stressful because I have a lot of meetings and need to shake hands often. A friend recommended the lotion RENEW and IT WORKS!!! I just ordered 2 more bottles because it is a miracle lotion. I hope this helps others that have the same problem that I went through.

I have the same problem. It's quite annoying but there's nothing I found to cure it. The pattern I have found is that it happens when the seasons change for me. It just happened now that summer has hit

My son's fingers would peel after using antibiotics when he was a baby. My palms peeled after using an antibiotic recently. I'm 63.

A couple weeks ago i had the flu and my hands were bright red and also sensitive to heat and things I held. Now my hands are getting these little air blisters that pop and start to peel. Last week it was just on the tips of my fingers but now it can spread down my fingers to my palms and the back of my hands. I asked the trainer at my high school what it is and she doesn't know but she thinks it could be from some kind of bacteria and told me to wash my hands but every time I wash my hands its seems to get worse.

I am 20 years old and have suffered from this my entire life. Doctors always told me never to use harsh soaps and detergents so I avoided them at all costs, opting for ‘soap free’ products instead. I can safely say now however that I have not had this happen in a year from performing one simple routine. Thourough hand washing.

I began studying nursing a year ago and obviously a requirement of this is clinical handwashing with hospital grade soaps. I was scared to wash my hands as I thought they would get worse but within a week my skin had cleared up. I now do at least 2 clinical hand washes each day and the skin on my hands has been perfect ever since! I’m not saying that this will work for everyone but for me it has been my cure.

I notice that if I do not wash my hands as much the skin will begin to peel again, but I will just step up the hand washing and it goes away before it gets bad.

Always moisturise after washing though!

I've had this problem for at least 10 years.  It always comes around at the beginning of summer and winter.  It's like clockwork.  My skin just starts peeling after I was my hands.

I had an ear infection and took some anti-biotics.  It was around the same time my hands started to peel.  I noticed that it stopped after I took it.  It went away for a few years and it seems like it's trying to build back up again.  I recently started to use a generic brand similar to neosporin.  It's triple action and can be bought at Walmart.  I noticed that its helped some.  I going to try the hospital grade soap and see where that takes me.  I'm convinced it's some sort of bacteria or fungus, in my case.

I'm not gonna go to a doctor for peeling skin. I just want to understand the reason my hands are peeling so I can fix the problem myself. Doctors always have a temperary solution so you keep coming back. If you think I'm paying hundreds of dollars to get rid of peeling skin, nevermind, it's "normal" for people to pay rediculous amounts of money to have a doctor provide a temperary solution. DOCTORS DON"T WANT YOU TO GET BETTER. THEY WANT YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK. That's the honest truth.

I have suffered from this problem for many years and have at last found something that works for me. My dermatitus is caused by contact with any detergent even mild washing up liquids, lotions with perfumes, and any household spray. The first step was to remeber always to use gloves for cleaning, and try to avoid getting hands wet as far as poss when it breaks out. Next either buy a hydrocortsone cream from your chemist (this will be only 1% steroid), or better still ask your doctor for a 2% steroid cream. Apply this as instructed until any blistering or itching stops. At the same time buy some Aveeno Hand Cream (It has to be the HAND cream-large Boots sell it ) and moisturise your hands often, esp after washing and whenever they start to feel at all dry or flaky. Hoppe it works for

I have had some success with 100% pure lanolin. You can buy it cheap on line from puritan' pride. I put it all over my hands and then slip on non latex gloves. Leave on overnight, It's sort of nasty, messy stuff but it really helps me.
