Your fine chicken is soft
I was told to eat toast and crisps and food like that also. I think soft foods are more comforting but mean your throat heals slower and is more sensitive also. I've seen a lot of people on line saying they ate soft foods only because after eating soft food and trying something harder it was agony. However everyone who said they ate normal food and some coarser food said that the pain in eating is very tolerable. I would however just follow doctors orders
He can't eat anything tomatoe based food because if the acid in it !!!
I love it. I ate eggs, apple sauce, pudding with coolwhip, just coolwhip (yum), jello, sherbet and that was all day 1
In Ohio the Dr says to eat all foods to keep the scab from getting big. Toast, cheeseburgers, pizza all of it is recommended.
I just got my tonsils removed yesterday and was told NO TOAST, CHIPS or anything that will scratch the throat.
Just cause America is not keeping up with the rest of the first world in medicine does not give you the right to call people liars. I just got my tonsils out in Australia and I’ve been eating normally since the day of the surgery, no big scab build up and no bleeding! :)
Yep totally agree, I’m from the uk and I’m 4 days post op. I had to eat toast and they also made me eat a scone before I could leave hospital. My surgeon said over and over again I must eat normally including scratchy foods. I keep up my pain killers and have had dominoes pizza ( on day 2 post op) and toast, biscuits, I’ve eaten everything I can and I am healing very very well. The surgeon said you have to eat scratchy foods to make sure bacteria doesn’t build up on the wound. Maybe it’s different in America If they use a knife during surgery? My surgeon used a laser. I haven’t had any blood at all and feel okay.
Just has tonsillectomy in U.K. and can confirm that hard foods are recommended. In fact I was given crisps and a sandwich and told cereal and toast is the way to go. Keeps the scabs from thickening and therefore reduces the risk of haemorrhage. US is the complete opposite an interesting dichotomy.
Hello I am now on day 8, and after the 6th day no refills but the Hydro, and no way in H....will I take that because I knew that would happen because you do need to eat and it is to painful to eat so I am just enduring the pain I got it refilled just-in-case and was able to take the pain. Try making broth, clear liquids. I did and it was amazing.
Hard food after a tonsillectom..., horrible it will cause you to bleed and worsen the healing process, I am on day 8 and doing clear liquid and oatmeal soft potatoes. Did I mention with no pain meds.
Make sure the drink is freezing cold
Straight after op I was given toast to eat, said it cleans the area and helps with pain, took me ages to eat it though
I️ just got my tonsils removed, going on day 5 tomorrow morning. While I still haven’t been able to use soft food, I️ can tell you drinks that could help. First of all, let me say dairy doesn’t sit well. It thickens your mucous, my doctor warned me, and so it’s been making me feel like I need to throw up/gag. The stereotypical “lots of ice cream” is just what they say to get you to sign papers. Lots of jello, flan, sorbet, popsicles, lukewarm spoilt, as no spicy or hot foods so had to be cooled off, mushed stuff.
As an adult recovering from a tonsillectomy, I love the idea for dealing with the ear pain! Thank you! I’m definitely going to have to give it a try.
