Getting cyst on scalp removed -- questions?

I don't know where you are from, but I had a deductible to meet, which is $1500. So that's what I'm paying for everything. I think total was around $3300. See reply from a few posts ago under the name kthmiles, that is me about my experience. Update - 16 days later... Bad news. My infected one did not hold the stitches and scab correctly, so there is a huge open wound the size of a quarter on top of my head. I'm putting antibiotic ointment on it for 2 weeks hoping it will close by itself. I have another one that is bugging me, it still has a scab on, but it hurts. I have a feeling that one did not heal properly either. I'm going to have her check when I go back on the 4th.

I just had two small cyst on the back of my head removed. Outpatient at the derm office. They numbed the area which was only uncomfortable for a few short seconds. They circled the area and removed it, I think by the punch method. I didn't feel anything and went back to work. I do know there was some blood but that's expected as it dries. I could wash my hair by not vigorously and had to put some vaseline type stuff for a few days until the stitches feel out. Pain was okay, definitely needed tylenol. So far so good, we'll see how it heals.

I just had a cyst removed from my scalp and i must say i am very glad that i did..the cyst just kept growing..my head started to look like a camels hump

I have my cyst removed you will have bandage for about a week. Then you will get stitches remove suggesting have paracetmol before removed

I had 6 cyst on scalp.removed stitches after 7 days.it is recovering fast.only slight pain was experienced when dr removed large stitches then everything is normal

I had a benign cyst removed this morning from my scalp. I waited years to do it and it got pretty big. My family removed it in the office using local anesthesia. She didn't shave any hair. The only thing I felt was about four small needles to numb the area. It took about 30 minutes to get the sucker out. My husband says I got 3-5 stitches. My home care is only to put Vaseline on it and watch for signs of infection. No bandage. My hair completely covers sutures. I can wash my hair just not swim under water. Stiches come out next Monday or Tuesday. Now that the local has worn off I only feel slight discomfort. I wish I hadn't waited so long. **i forgot to mention I hate needles and am a big chicken!!

I just had a large one removed last Friday, 3 days ago. They shaved my hair & I have close to 60 stitches, the wound is about 2 inches long, they had to go down to the bone to get all of it. I had to wear a bandage for 48 hours, just took it off last night. I can't wash my hair for 10 days. I'm really sore, never expected this! Good luck!

Thank you for those that comment about large size infected cyst on scalp . I'm worried because I had mine burst a year ago and white thick stuff came out. I thought it was done. Now a year later its red size of a LARGE grape infected it leaks green stuff with pus. I saw General Surgeon he said he will put me under general anesth. But I cant breath after and I get depression when I wake up so I am asking my primary to refer me to Dermatologist maybe he can do in office under local anesthetic. I'm scared I dont know why Ive had 4 C-sections with my 3rd one a Rupture Uterus.. Lol... Today is 7-2-17

I've had the breathing thing happen to me in 1 surgery (I've had 10 surgeries). If you tell them, they will adjust your meds. I highly recommend seeing the surgeon for something like that. Mine was oozing white also. It was infected so bad, it went down to my scalp! I had to see a wound specialist afterwards. I don't think a derm is equipped to handle that.

I just got a cyst removed yesterday but he didn't put any stitches in my head has anyone else ever not gotten stitches

I am in the same boat right now.....3 small cycts removed on the back of my scalp....approx an inch or 2 away from one another. I am on day 9 post surgery and still in pain, still swollen and I will not go through this again. 1.5 weeks of he'll and I still ldont know how much longer this throbbing will last.

I had one for 5 years got it removed June 8th still hasn't healed wore a big bandage for a week couldn't wash my hair for one week now I noticed another bump is underneath the one I got removed

Who's your doctor. I am poor and am thinking about removing it myself to save me a buck or two. Looks like a wing was growing out of my back but stopped at some point. lol I am in Ontario, Toronto but willing to travel to get a cheaper rate. The Philippines? Maybe.
