Saw my gyno today about same kind of cyst. I thought he might drain it, but he said it needed to be surgically cut out under anesthesi
Did you get an answer mine sounds exact,y like yours?
I have the same problem my doctors did some very painful tests came back to say that it is an infection some women get after having a weakened immune system but is most common after having Thrush. It can spread rapidly to other parts of the vagina is not contagious and will go away usually within 14 days however some times it needs treating with antibiotics x
i have the same problem and i cannot find out what causes them either so someone should knw hopefully we will find out wht it it
I'm having the same situation. I'm only 15 and a virgin. I'm confused and if you find anything out, please get back to me about it. I'm scared and don't know what to do.
So I have this hard mass on my left Labia Minora in which has happened a couple times now at it is always just before ovualtion. I do not see a reason for concern nor does my doctor unless it keeps coming back and getting bigger & more painful. It is always my left and yes I have and am sexually active with the same partner for 12yrs.
It sounds like what you're describing is a Bartholin's Gland Cyst- you usually don't have to worry about them!

I have the EXACT same thing that everyone else is describing! Thats comforting somehow.
I have one on the outside of my left major labia, it started as small as a pea, and painless. I made the mistake of trying to squeeze it even though there was no head. All it did was changed from being a hard, painless, pea size ball, to a somewhat flattened version. The next morning i woke and it was the size of a walnut and extremely red and inflamed. Its very painful to touch, move, sit etc and even my underwear is too much pressure on it. I was told by my Gyno that it is a sebaceous cyst. The Sebaceous glands are one part of the pilosebaceous unit, which also contains a hair follicle and a hair. The sebaceous glands produce sebum which moisturises the hair and skin. So basically a sebaceous cyst develops fom an ove load of sebum which blocks the gland. A regular hot compress will help the sebum loosen and unblock the gland but because i squeezed it. my gyno said that caused the sebum and pus to move inside (cause there was nowhere for it to go) and become seveely infected. Those women who are thinking "but mines on the inner labia which doesn't have hair". Sebaceous glands are found all over the body except on the palms, soles, top of the feet, and the lower lip, and a cyst can develop anywhere that the sebaceous glands are found. If it is on the outside of the skin and has a hed like appearance, it is more likely an ingrown hair that has become infected.
The Bartholins glands on the other hand, are located on either side of the opening of the vagina. These glands secrete fluid that helps lubricate the vagina. If the gland becomes blocked it can cause a bartholins cyst. They are two very different things, but treated in much the same way. I am now on a course of antibiotics to get rid of the infection and failing that, i will be off to get it lanced and the core removed. I will never ever sqeeze one of these things again, lightly touching it brings tears to my eyes because of the pressure built up inside the gland so the thought of having it lanced or a needle injecting local around the area absolutely terrifies me.
I have the EXACT same problem!! Just a hard lil bump that comes & goes...its only on one side and hurts only once in awhile...No puss, no nothing...
Thank goodness you used the description of a "Tic Tac", because that is what I have. It is like a Tic Tac is under the skin of my labia minora (left side only), and it has been there for months now. When I asked my Gyno about it (it was hard to find that day, strange since I could feel it every day before and now after) he said it was a clogged pour and I just needed to start putting a hot washcloth on it or take hot sitz baths 3 x a day. I have not done this, but I think it's the only way its going to go away. I am not sexually active at the moment... been married to the same man for over 15 year- no STD. Additional note* Never had this until I started Spin class on a regular basis.
I have one at the moment and had one back in 2008 I believe. They have been on either side and they are hard. Yes!! The more I try popping them the bigger they get. I'm taking antibiotics but I just wish there were a cream of some sort that would help it go down cause is so painful washing myself or wiping when I pee. The first time I got this cyst it got so bad I had to go to the ER and have the doctor make a small cut and squeeze the puss out. It was sooooo painful I screamed so loud but what a relief after since I wasn't able to sit properly. I actually called the Pharmacy to ask if there was an ointment I could buy over the counter being that is the weekend and the pharmacist said I could use neosporine (I think that's how you spell it) I just started using is so not sure if it'll work. If by tomorrow I feel is helping I shall come back on and write if yes is a good solution to the cyst. I hate that I get this. Also I have herpes and can tell you is definitely NOT herpes! I guess some woman just get these cyst's down there.
I'm not sure if I have these same issues, but I'll throw this one out there.
I noticed I had a small, rock-like bump under the skin on the inside of my vagina lips. Before I knew it, I had 3 of them, varying in sizes, but still fairly small. If you try to squeeze them, nothing would happen and just felt like a small rock under there. I searched for answers, but I kept getting told it was a cyst or a ingrown hair follicle. I have had those. They are very painful, turn purple, and are unpoppable. This was not the same thing. The closest answer I got from researching the symptoms was a swollen sweat gland. However, it also said that these just go away with time. I had mine for almost a year. Last month, my bigger rock-like bump formed into a pimple. It was painful like a normal pimple is and two days later, I could pop it. There was a little, clear rock that came through the skin and lots and lots of blood, but was completely gone! I was shocked that the whole experience was over in a matter of three days after having this bump for a year! Here it is a month later, and the smallest bump did the same thing. It's like the little rock came to the surface and turned into a very sensitive poppable pimple. I used the restroom, and the pimple popped while I wiped. Super sensitive to the touch. They don't take much effort to pop, like the ingrown hair cysts. This one too had a small, clear, rock-like bump come out with lots of blood. I have one left now. I'm waiting for it to ve like the others. I haven't noticed any others form or reform from the ones that popped, they're just gone! And I am more than okay with that! I lived with them, not knowing what they were for almost a year. I still don't know for sure. All I know is that a little patience helped cure these little buggers!
I am actually just back from the gynaecologist where I was referred after heading to the doctors with lumps in my labia minora. I've had them. For I've. 5 years now, but only in the last year they've got larger, harder and more painful. She said they are mucous cysts, and I'm scheduled for surgery to have them removed. Only a small risk of them coming back afterwards. Hope you guys got sorted out too :)
Hi smiley, i have this same thing, and recently got it checked out and my obgyn said it was a blocked hair follicle. She said that she can excise it, and she'll probably put some stitches in. She warned me that it might become irritated from time to time afterwards though. So I was wondering if in your case, after you've had them cut, if the area had irritated you occasionally. The cyst that I have is painless and doesn't really bother me, but I'm pretty self conscious about it so was wondering if it would be a good idea to get it cut out. I'd hate for it to start irritating me after I do get it cut though since it isn't painful now.
