I've had these lumps a few times over the last few months and just found another one today, hence finding this forum. I tend to notice them either when washing the area in the shower or when wiping with tissue after going to the toilet - the lump is painful when touched. The first time I found one I was totally freaked out and did end up sticking a pin in it (sterilised first!!). I got a fair amount of yellow - white gunk out followed by blood. Surprising amount considering it's a lump only the size of a pea. When I had one again, I just left it alone and it went by itself after a few days and I've found that to be the case on the other times too (think today is the 5th time). Such a relief to realise it seems quite common and isn't related to any STD. I haven't been sexually active for quite some time but had wondered if it was something had hibernated for a while first!! Thanks everyone for the reassurance ..

I am having the same problem. I am sixteen years old and this is the first time I have gotten anything like this. I have had a bump for about a month and a half and never really payed any attention to it because it was so small. About a week ago it started to increase in size and now is about the size of a smaller marble and is really hard. I have been putting hot wash clothes on the bump and tried poking it with a needle, but I can't poke it fare enough to make anything come out. It is starting to hurt really bad and I don't know what to do. If anyone finds anything out please let me know.

I have a hard red bump on my inner labia minora. It doesn't really hurt, but is sensitive to the touch and hurts when I squeeze my labia. I freaked out when I saw it, I have a fiance of 4 years, but have not had sex in a year. I went to the doctor, and she reassured me that it is an inclusion cyst or a nabothian cyst. She said that it should go away on its own. Hope this reassures you!

In the case that it's a clogged up gland/pore, just take a hot shower, where it gets a lot less hard, and slowly pop it afterwards.

i have this too. mine sorta feels like a mans testical because it can move around inside my labia alittle bit..but not far..it seems like its connected to something, and i see no way where a whitehead sort of thing can form and drain..so im sort of confused.
mine happened 3 days ago..i noticed it after my fiance and i had sex..and i thought it was just swollen from friction so i didnt think much..but then when i felt it, it didnt feel swollen it felt like something was in there..thats when i started to wonder what it is..it hurts sometimes, and i cant push on it hard without it hurting.
last night we had sex again and right after we had sex i went in the bathroom and it was gone..i was happy..but then a couple hours later it came back..so this might be the same thing like another girl said that it went away during sex..but like i said it came back..and its still here. its about 3/4 of an inch long..i tried taking a really hot bath and putting a hot washcloth on it, and its still the same size and consistancy..
ive heard some people say to poke it, and other say not to..
i dont have insurance so i cant go to the doctor..
should i keep trying baths or what?

I have a friend who has the same problem and looked it up out of curiosity. It's called a Bartholin cyst. Check it out on-line to see if it's what you ladies have. If it is, it doesn't seem to be much to worry about. Hope this helps!

Well, I am glad to know I am not the only one dealing with these cysts. I have been having them for almost a year so I started to keep track. In my case, they occur when I am ovulating and at the start of my menstration.
I have had them checked out via ultrasound and I requested blood test... as it appears to coincide with my cycle (i.e. hormone levels). I was diagnosed with PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS can cause a lot of other health problems so you should be checked out by a OB/GYN and an endocrynologist (to deal with the hormone secretion issues). My doctor told me that a bad case of PCOS left untreated can cause infertility. As an aside, that is what caused Kate (from Jon and Kate Plus 8) to need to have IVF treatments... PCOS cysts made her ovulations unpredictable.
I am not cured but I am getting less frequent/ severe occurences. Good luck everyone!

I too have had one of these for about 3 weeks thought i would ignore it and it would go away...no such luck...popped it with a sterilised pin, puss and blood, not a great deal so left it again, and the elastic in my underwear must have rubbed too much one day and it split....very painful so went to the doc, got antibiotics and a check, still painful a week later so went back again and got it lanced, that is painful, another course of antibiotics n lots of heat (i use a heatpack) and its improving. It is just a cyst. At first mine was a hard lump under the skin with no opening, (didnt know it was there until I bumped it rather hard and it hurt) with what felt like a soft crater in the middle, never had one previously. Trust me get it seen to as soon as possible so it doesnt get to the point of lancing, the locals to numb the area are rather painful, sitting, walking etc is painful after due to the tenderness of the area.

I have one of these too. It's on my right inner labia. I got one a couple of years ago and i managed to pop it with a pin and fluid came out. I tried doing the same thing that I did with the last one to this one and nothing. I have noticed that the one I have now is a lot closer to my clitoris and when I touch it or rub it, it irritates my clitoris really badly and makes it itch. I know that it is not an STD because the last time I had this problem I went to the doctor and they swabbed it and told me that it wasn't, but they never did tell me exactly what it was. I really want this to go away but I don't know what to do! I have tried using hot compresses, squeezing it (which really hurts), poking it with a pin and I have even put hydrogen peroxide on it and nothing. It hasn't changed in size or anything. Right now it is about the size of a small pea....I am worried that if it doesn't go away soon that it will grow bigger and cause problems with my clitoris...if it isn't starting to already. Does anyone else have one of these that close to the clit?

I have the same problem as everyone else. I first noticed it a couple of days while washing up in the shower. I thought it was irritation from the soap I used but it only got bigger (pea-sized) harder, and red. Im married and sexually active. Sex was too painful and I had my husband check it out. I thought it was also irritation from the condom we used, but it seems like many of the posters have not been sexually active for a while, I'm just wondering why now, when I have never had them before. Is there something we have in common between all of us? For example, a reaction to the same body wash, irregular periods, weight, age, etc?? Has anyone been to a doctor and figured it out?

I think that the cysts could be rleated to internal cysts that some people suffer from like PCOS but it shows up on the outside. Have any of you investigated that option?

I can't believe I found this. I have had the same problem for about 2 weeks. I have not been sexually active in about two years. The bump is about 3/4 inch
long and about 1/4 inch wide on the right side. It is hard and not very painful.

Please tell me if you have any answers.

I think that you need to go to a doctor and have it checked out just to ensure that it isn't cancerous or anything like that. I'm not trying to scare you but it's a good idea. What do you think?

Hi, i have had these come up for a while now... many years come to think of it. I have been tested for std's and im completely clean. I did however have one when i went to the Gyno... she said that it is a build up of the normal "body fluid" and sweat... the skin just got clogged and caused a bump... it is a cyst of sorts... The Gyno told me to take a washcloth and wet it with as warm to hot water as i could handle, and hold it on there for a bit... it opens it up and if you clean it really good it should go away. I do the hot cloth twice a day when i have it and its normally gone with in a few days =) I hope this helps =)

I have heaps of them all in different shapes but mostly the same size. They're itchy and make my labia minora (both sides) stick out beyond my labia majora. I am sick of it. I am always figeting trying to find a position so that they're not squeezed because they hurt when they are squeezed. I fidgeted so much I got kicked out of an exam. I wash them with just water because there is something in soap that gives me a bladder infection. This year and last year I have been visiting my doctor for several bladder infections so could it possibly be that? I am not sexually active what so ever but a lot of friction is put upon that area, Could that be it? Grrrrrr! I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to get to the bottom of this!
