I had an accident with my then boyfriend, now husband when we were 16. We had that baby and I was on birth control until I was 20, and we tried for one month and got pregnant. Same thing with my daughter, tried for a month when I was 22 and got pregnant. I had an IUD put in after that, not sure if I wanted anymore kids. I never has a single period on the iud. I had big problems with cysts when I had the iud, even had surgery to remove one. Lots of pain. I finally had it removed after 3 years, in the er. They thought I had an infection from it. I thought this would solve my problems and went on the pill. I started regular periods right away. I was still having tons of pain, but they couldnt find anything wrong. Except I was in pain and always had a raised white blood cell count. They took my apendix out in March of 2009 to see if that helped. I am having regular periods now and off the pill. We have been trying for 3 months with no luck! I also have all the weird symptoms thinking I am pregnant. I am worried I have permanant damage. I am only 26!
Newlywed: I still have the Mirena in. I had it put in Sept. 18, 2008. We had our daughter Dec. 31, 2007 and I still bleed almost 24/7. I bled for 10 months straight after having her and was bleeding softball sized clots. I almost bled to death, had to have 6 units of blood, a unit of plasma and an iron infusion. I had a blood clot and now the hemotologist says I can't ever have estrogen again. So where does that leave me? I have had irregular periods since I started when I was 11...I'm now 21. I feel pregnant; nausea, breast tenderness, cravings, hightened sense of smell, movement even! but every test I've taken says "not pregnant" now I am passing clots again, like I did when I had my miscarriages when I was younger. I'm having mine taken out. I've had the cramping, bleeding, painful intercourse...so my question is...what next?
I just had my iud removed today! It kinda sucks reading all the bad luck most everyone is haveing. I really hope it happens soon for me. I have 3 boys and this is my last attempt to have a girl! 8-|
I had my mirena put in place july 2005...I had it removed Aug 2008, I had it for 3 yrs. I am 22 and I was 18 when I gave birth to my daughter. I am almost giving up all hopes of ever having another child. my daughter is 4 yrs old and I just feel kinda hopeless....it seems like pregnancy is spreading like a wildfire and im the only one who cant have a baby....
I had my mirina removed 18 months ago after having it in for 4 year and ive had no luck getting pregnant so far however i get pregnancy synptoms eg: swollen breasts, mood swings, tiredness yet negative pregnancy tests i have 3 children from a previous relationship however my partner does not have any children, i would love any advice anyone could give im starting to realy worry something could be wrong my partner refuses to seek medical advice and thinks we should just keep trying :-(
Ok I had the idu for ALMOST 2 years and I had 2 kids before I got it so I know I can have kids.... Although My idu got taken out on Oct 2008 and Me and my husband have been trying every since. Ok I got pregnant in Feb 2009 I was 6 and a half weeks pregnant and lost it at the end of March. I was wondering if anyone thinks it has to do with me having the idu prior to it cause I just cant make myself believe anything else..... I wish I had never got it cause now me and my husband want a baby and cant get pregnant. At first we were trying really hard I mean it was a everyday thing and about 3 to 4 times a day after awhile he got disappointed and told me we needed to quit trying and just let it happen when it happens... Well its been almost a year in Oct since we have been trying and I have only been pregnant the one time when I lost it..... I CANT GET PREGNANT FOR NOTHING..... Its driving me crazy every month its the same thing when my period is about to happen I sit and think Im pregnant and every month is the same thing IM NOT.... I want a baby more than anything... I have always wanted 3 kids I already have their names picked out for a boy or a girl..... Please someone tell me something to make me feel better.... Im to the point where a lie would do it...
I have had my IUD for three years. No problems at all. Light pink spotting every three months or so. No cramps. I already have two children and plan to have my IUD taken out at some point and will perhaps try to conceive again.
However, what people need to understand is that 10-20% of *all* pregnancies end in miscarriage. Most people just don't know that they're pregnant yet and assume they are having a period. Also, if you've had your IUD in for 3-5 years, your fertility has declined. Age is a factor. I wouldn't be so quick to "blame" your Mirena IUD.
To those of you having trouble conceiving, I wish you the best of luck.

did any ones period skip a month?
I have had my mirena for nearly three years with no problems until about four months ago. I started having cycles, and the cramps were unbelievable for the first couple of days. This isn't normal for me, and having a cycle with the Merena isn't either. Then, the last month, I have had a period every week for at least three days.
The last merena I had between two of my children did the same thing at about three years too, and I had it removed. I had a miscarriage with the first pregnancy, but I was pregnant again within a month, and only three months after the removal.
I have four kids now, and don't want more, but this time the three day periods are way worse than the last time.

I had Mirena in for 2 years. I had it taken out in April 2009. We have been trying to get pregnant ever since. Im afraid the IUD has messed something up. While it was in my periods would last for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. With heavy bleeding and severe cramps. I always felt like I had a cyst. Also, during intercourse, experiencing pain. My gyno says that b/c of the Mirena, I might not be ovulating yet! Its been 5 months! Getting pregnant with my son (before mirena) was so easy, I will never get an IUD ever again.
%-) I've had the mirena for about 2 years and the last 5 months all I'm getting is constant pelvic pains and back pains ugh I am getting it removed!
I'm 33 yrs old. I have two kids 11 and 4. Never had a problem with getting pregnant. I had the Mirena for 4 years and love it. It was the perfect birth control me. Finally some that work and I didn't have to think about it. I got married year ago. My husband don't have any kids so we decide to start working on have a child. It's been 6 month and nothing yet. Now I know they say you should wait at least a year before you start worrying but I have always been very fertile. Never had a problem with getting pregnant. For the past 5 months I believe I was pregnant because I was having pregnancy like symptoms; Sore breasts, fatigue, lower back pain and flutting in my lower abdomina. As for my cycle those have only been for one day and month. I have very little cramping. I'm trying to be patient, but I never had a problem and all of sudden that what is always on my mind. I will be making an appointment to see a doctor to see if he can tell me what is going on with me. My husband also will going to see a doctor. Could all this be happen due to the Mirena. :-(
Just a post to the 13 year old. You do not want to be pregnant or even try to bring up a baby at that age. Trust me! I have a 14 year old daughter that got pregnant and had the baby at 15. She really took care of herself, read every book imaginable on pregnancy and ate healthy, I mean healthy, no pop or junk food. Everyone once in a while she might snack on something but soda was out of the question. I thought that she really wanted this baby, cause she was really taking care of herself. Never missed an appointment and at times would tell the Dr's if they were wrong, but had every calculation down pat. Point is she really did want to make sure my grandson was healthy when he got here, she fell head over heels in love, but when reality set in, she was not ready to be a mom. I have custody of my grandson without a fight, she wanted to be a kid again. Don't get me wrong, she loves her son and has every right to be with him when she wants to, but I do all the care for him and she gets to be a kid again. Think about what you are doing and what do you really want. Your too young, get out and see the world and live your dreams first. That was my only regret! See life and when the time is right you will have your chance for children. Good luck.
I myself have also been doing a lot of reading on trying to conceive after Mirena. I had my daughter July 06, had mirena put in sept 07, had it removed June 09. My fiance and i have been TTC ever since. Like alot of you i get my hopes up every month.
My situation also started a little different. When i was 19, i got diagnosed with cervical cancer. I had a procedure done and had over half of my cervix removed. After the surgery i was still on "the pill" and conceived my daughter 6 months later. Which to let you know i was told that my chances of having children then were slim to none. But none the less i was NOT trying to get PG ( plus still on BC). Either way i have a beautiful 3 year old daughter who i think is perfectly ready for a sibling. I am due to start AF this friday... Hope she doesnt show up!! WISH ME LUCK

hello,
I have had the Mirena for about 13 months and i am getting it out so my husband and i can start trying. How soon after it can i get pregos? My husband is deployed right now but will be home really soon. We want to start trying right away. I have been reading other forms saying that they had to take some meds after the removal to help with moods and so on. I was wondering do any of yall have this problem?
