That was supposed to read "just as IMPORTANT," not "just as impossible," lol :-)
While I don't know enough to say whether you have CHF, my guess would be that you could benefit from a regular physical with your doctor, and visits to any specialist(s) he or she refers you to. You may have one or more conditions that you need treatment for, even if it's not as bad as CHF. Going to the doctor can be a little intimidating when you are overweight, but I have struggled all my life with obesity (more or less), and I still go to the doctor. Yes, I have gotten the lecture on weight control from time to time, and an occasional insensitive comment (and yes, I was upset by it), but I don't regret any of the medical care I have received. I might not be alive today, if I didn't. Take good care of yourself, and it will help you to worry less.
It has been over a year since you posted; have symtpoms improved, and did you ever have a Stress ECHO?
I also have the same issue as just about every testimonial. I have had palps, skipping beats with cough for years off and on. It has gotten worse in the past couple years. I was also put on metoprolol (toprol) first 12.5 then 25 mg. all it did was slow my heart rate down so low..that the palps felt more pronounced, so I went off it and felt much better for quite awhile.. now they are back. I wore a monitor for 30 days.. and tho they saw some skipped beats etc... my heart is considered ok. Its easy to say, but very uncomfortable to live with.. I am 63 year old female.. gone thru menopause.. and about 25 lbs overweight.. Learn to live with it? I hate it..
Do keep your appointment...my husband has these symptoms from Sarcoidosis...but is still going to a cardiologist to be sure. Good luck.
Exact same symptoms.
I've recently read that acid reflux can cause coughing and a feeling that the heart is "catching." This is due to the acid from the stomach backing up into the esophagus and mouth, possibly being drawn into the lungs. This would make sense as I read in these posts about heartburn, coffee, and symptoms being worse when lying down. For instance, perhaps it is the acid in coffee and not the caffeine that is creating the problem. I am a lay person doing research just as all of you, so I am going to experiment with a more alkaline diet and see if the problem gets better. I'll let you know after a month if the skipping/ coughing syndrome has gotten better.
Hello there, I have exactly the same symptoms and am the same age as you, did you ever find any resolution? I'm awaiting a 24 hour ECG test.
I've been going through the same thing and has been happening for months and months. I've gone to my physician, cardiologist, worn a holtor monitor for 2 weeks (going back in a week for results), had an EKG and everything looked fine. They referred me to my physician who ordered an echo gram and had a stress test. I will be seeing my doctor in a week and will hear the results, but it comes and goes where my heart beats really fast and it makes me cough. It also happens to me in resting periods..when lying down in bed and at work while sitting. I'm coughing and coughing. When I feel the fast heart palpitations I feel light headed and at times I have felt nauseas. Now I'm frustrated wondering what it is. :(
Hello, I am a 51y/o female. I've been experiencing rapid heart rate and flutter in my chest with cough also occasionally high BP. Have had Echo, labs, holter and all have been negative. The Dr. put me on a beta blocker which relieved my symptoms for a couple of years. I am now having all symptoms again while on my meds. I'm currently having a thirty day heart monitor reading. Not sure what will happen next but the exhaustion I feel is the most disheartening. I also have Chiari malformation and have discovered it affects the vagus nerve which controles the autonomic nervous system (I.e.) heart rhythm, rate and things of that nature. Hope this helps and encourages. God bless.
I have had these same symptoms since last year, ended up at the ER, ran bloodwork, quick EKG, and diagnosed with PAC'S, I've had these in the past here and there but not this bad, really scary feeling, the Dr said they are harmless and everyone has them but mine are more frequent and noticeable, I'm not satisfied with this diagnosis and plan to see a cardiologist soon, BTW mine get better when I'm resting, thank you all for your stories, takes the anxiety away a little to read similar stories, God bless you all❤️
You may have celiacs, I have the same problem
Hi I'm 52, female, eat very healthily and keep reasonably active. I smoked for many years and gave up 8 years ago because of these symptoms that people are referring to. I started jogging and swimming which helped but it comes back. I can go for a while with no bumpy heart or breath catching cough but at the moment is very frequent and annoying/worrying. A few years ago I wore the halter and had tests at my GP but apart from a tricky name to remember meaning skipping or adding a heart beat he said no further tests needed. I feel something must be going on with my heart eg. valve not working properly. Thankss for your interest and hope we can see more studies done in the future :-)
What you have is different from what others are experiencing here, something much more serious called pulmonary edema. Your body is retaining fluid that drains to your legs causing the foot/ankle swelling. this fluid can back up tot he lungs when you lie down, making breathing difficult. Over the long term, it can enlarge your heart due to the constant exertion of fighting against the extra load (cardiomegaly and CHF). You are relatively young to have this happen, and hopefully there is a reversible cause in your case. Please see a doctor ASAP if you have not already.
You are right on the money! I've been having this problem for 3 years now. Working out plus keeping your stress levels low seems like the only solution. Whenever I'm stress I get that skipping feeling which causes me to freak out!
