I had a cat scan for this issue and the neurologist said as we age the blood vesicles enlarge. There is one that runs close to the ear, this is where the blood sound comes from. They found nothing else wrong with me also. I gets louder sometimes and goes totally away other times. I have had it wake me from a dead sleep when it first started. I am getting used to ignoring it now, at least most of the time. Good luck

I had the exact symptoms for two years. Saw many specialist. My ent sent me to see a t m j specialist. He put me on cyclobenzaprine 10mg at bedtime. That along with a cheap mouth guard that I bought at Walmart, made me 100 percent better. The same day I saw him I tried it, and it worked. My specialist is doctor Steve Harkins in Tucson, AZ. I Had just about given up hope that anyone would be able to help me. I had debilitating headaches, face pain, puffing noises in my ears and the list goes on. I first purchased a boil and bite down mouth guard that was too bulky. Then I found these little thin ones that you just slip into place, and it fit perfectly. At times if I am around the house I will wear it and it is so relaxing. Hope you get better.

i seem to have the same problem as some of you. it started six months ago. i went to the doctor he said you have got an ear infection your is inflammed he gave me antibiotics they didnt work so he gave ear drops they did nt work he told me to take sudefed and ibuprofen they didnt work
he has given me a nasel spray that hasnt worked either and he gave me this device for my nose a ballon type thing you keep your mouth closed and blow in to this balloon using your nose whilst hold the other side of your nose. it sorts out the pressure in your ears so the doctor told me every time he see my ears he says it pressure build up in my ears
after seeing the doctor so many times i got in to the e n t clinic to see them the did a hearing test looked at my ears and said thay cant see anything wrong this upset me as the noise was in my ear that day and is now. they said you will need a scan so now i have to wait for that and i was told i will have to wait up to 18 weeks for it and to see some one from the tinenus people up to 3 months, the noise in my left ear is driving me crazy i cant sleep right i cant afford to go private i can feel some thing wrong with my ears some times pain or i feel light headed i have a lot of flem coming from my throat some time the noise will stop for a few days then last all day and night for weeks. it gets worse if i turn my head bend down or strech its making me feel bad and i dont know what else to do if i hold my breath it stops its like a pulsing whoshing sound its awfull

same for me and same meds let me know the verdic

i have tried everything you did and nothing works. I find that earplugs at nite work well enough for me to sleep. I have deternined that when low pressure areas come in it gets really bad. Google "barametric pressure and effects on humans" It might take several googles but you will get good info eventually.

EVERYONE WHO IS HEARING HEARTBEATS WHEN TRYING TO SLEEP PLEASE TRY THIS -->

Try to sleep with the head of your bed slightly elevated, or even at a near sitting position. I believe that you are having too much blood flow in your head and you could relieve some of the pressure this way.

Please let me & others know if this works --

((works for me))

-TinitusRinging in the ear? Been to 3 ENT's, results? Can't do Nothing for it! It's not in the Ear but further in

Go thru Sound Therepy and get a Expensive hearing aid that might Help Mask it..to cope and get thru the day..

And eventually Go Insane or Get so depressed and take drugs for that and your in a Stupor all the time

-Fluid in the other Ear and then they Drain it , it comes back a Month later and then they put a Tube in it and that's about all they can do with that problem too

-Get hearing Tests, What For? You'll know if you can't hear and They can't do knothhing for that either, except, sell you a hearing Aid for $5,000

-GET a Head Contrast MRI? Sure, go ahead.. Waste another $5,000 and find out? Nothing they can do

It's just all a Money maker for them and their Hospitals

And Oh, Have fun Laying down in that MRI for 1/2 hr or longer. Ask for Some Valium or Xanax..And Be As Sleepy as you can be..stay up the nite before and be Exhausted if you can to be dead tired.. and not all wide awake

I have been doctoring since the 4 of Dec, almost 4 months, start with a sore throat and 11 hour flight, then i n two days a very bad ear infection, was on two round of antibiotics, then to a ear specialist, was told I had fluid in the ear ,then another specialist, had two hearing test, with hearing loss, at one time I couldn't even hear out of the ear for two weeks, had a CT scan, now they say it is in the mastoid and you can learn to live with it I don't believe that, it's constant noise and pressure. One doctor finds things in the scan that the other doctor doesn't even mention in his reports. Only things I haven't done as of yet which has been mentioned is a endoscopy to look at the nasopharynx to make sure there are obstructive lesions. I'm just so tired of doctors spending my money and getting no where.

I can totally relate to your problems and aggravations, however I do not have any "happy" news to pass along to you.. I have been battling this "thing" for a lifetime. Started when I was a child, put tubes in my ears and all seemed f.i.n.e. Until now.2 ENT'S, MRI'S, Cat scan's and hearing test, Allergy test = My Eustachian tubes do not work properly in draining or airing out my inner ears.As an adult the fluid, pain, heartbeat which is the blood flowing thru the vessel near your inner ear, when there is no noise I hear what I call The sound of silence ha ha or a steady ring. I have had 2 sets of tubes in both ears in the past 8 months, treated for ear infection, vertigo, pain, lack of sleep, allergies, the only relief I do get is with the tubes. After about 2months of being in everything goes away and I feel "normal" . I have already lost 1/2 of my hearing in my right ear and at this time almost complete loss in my left due to all the fluid and wax built up. Within the next few weeks I will be going to yet ANOTHER ENT and we'll see what this one thinks of for a permanent solution!! As long as I am "battling" these symptoms, I can not work.. it turns into a chain reaction- you're in pain, you don't feel normal, begin shutting people out cause you feel sick all the time, depression sets in, insomnia sets in. Do yourself a favor.. FIGHT IT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.. I loved my job and my work, but without my hearing I can not do it - that is depressing... Oh, dear.. sorry for rambling.. Hope you made it this far and something I have said in here helps... Take care and God Bless.

its good to know I'm not alone, my "pulsing heartbeat" sound started about a month ago in my right ear. I was really scared bc the first thing that came to mind was a tumor or anyeuriam or something like that. I saw ENT yesterday he gave me nasonex to spray in nose and followup in 2-4 weeks b4 doing any additional testing. I hope it goes away its driving me crazy keeping me awake at night. I sleep with the tv on so there's other sound to drown out the pulsing. I also get the feeling of a lump in my throat and a gagging feeling ...he called that "globus". Only thing different is I can't stop mine by pressing on neck or around ear....don't know if that's good or bad. The last 3 years have been very stressful for me and I know stress can wreck havoc on our bodies. For now I'm going to concentrate on meditation and destressing and pray my body corrects this condition.

My hemoglobin is low too, I was not aware this could be related. I will give this a try. To have relief after a year would be great.

I'm back again. I saw my ENT after the neurologist, and the ENT was quick to say it's not Meniere's, but he didn't know what it was and I'd just have to deal with it. Two years now I've heard the sound like blood rushing in my left year. I see someone has posted a new entry stating he/she has that sound, as well as jaw pain and headaches, the light-headedness when you stand, hearing difference from ear to ear, and even your jaw popping out. I have several of these symptoms. My last visit to the ENT left me utterly hopeless. I just sat and cried when I got to my car. He mentioned William Shatner and his biofeedback method, and I laughed at that. That's not my problem. I don't have what they call Tinnitus. It's not ringing. I hear a watered down heartbeat.

So here's what I've deduced: I clench my teeth while I sleep and sometimes during the day, especially when I'm stressed. I have a lot of tightness in my jaw, I think because of that. Even the ENT said there was something "not right" with my jaw. So I have my chiropractor adjust my jaw once a month or so, and he also got me a mouth guard I wear every other night or so (it's called "Sleep Right Rx" and it's not terribly bulky and adjustable, and cost me $50), which relaxes my jaw and I've noticed a reduction in the noise. Also, I sleep on my left side, so I think having my head turned all night causes sore muscles in my neck. (I sleep on my left to quiet the noise in my ear so I CAN sleep!). I came to this conclusion one day when I had an annoying headache, my jaw was sore, and the noise almost unbearable. I accidentally cracked my jaw, and I felt a bit better. That night I slept with the guard (I hadn't been using it for while) and the next day it all felt 90% better. My jaw was a bit looser, and the noise much more quiet. If you haven't tried a chiropractor yet, try one.

As for DAVF and AVM, I think I did read about that along the way and I seem to recall it not fitting my symptoms. I will be looking into it again to be sure. This is honestly THE most frustrating thing in the world. And having no answers only increases the frustration. My ENT has tinnitus, and he tries to sympathize with me, but I'm not buying it. It's not the same and like I asked him, why did it just start one day while I was sitting there? My next step, I think, will be an orthodontist to see if there is anything I can do about my tight jaw because I still hear the noise, it's just softer, plus I still have a tight jaw. I hope this helps someone else!

I have had this tinnitus for 2 months. On seeing this message I have started Cyclobenzaprine 10mg at night but not effective. Please let me know how long it is to be taken. The whole medical name is Cyclobenzaiprine Hydrochloride USP 10 mg, is that correct. Thanks
